You just have to set it up so it has the correct aspect ratio.

Make a 800x800 image and print, cut out and match up the monitor settings with it.

And yes many LCDs are native 1280x1024 with a correct aspect ratio for this resolution, ie square pixels. And no of course it's not 4:3 in that case.

You can even use widescreen modes on a normal CRT without getting a wrong aspect mode as long as you can change the monitor settings that much, and don't mind the black borders...

21" LCD here... Max res. Just played around with the settings till everything looks nice.

And I just forgot what I was going to say...

OH, yea, about GUI's. I strongly dislike things along the left and right side of my screen since it blocks my view. Coming from a long line of FPSers, I value how much I can see.

If I ever bother to adjust my screen, I'll be putting most of the GUI at the bottom, resized so they are smaller and out of my way.

so true, i just recently readjusted mine to be a tiny thing in the middle of my screen, with a 20.1inch monitor at best resolution, that leaves so much room to see everything.

how do you add custom UI graphics? (not the location and such, just the diffrent looks.)
