There must be a Priest near by...
So I was doing that skill quest from Fisherman's Haven, but starting from Sanctum Cay. Sometimes a mesmer Caromi spawns and totally rips me apart. Anyway, I just kept going at it until my health was actually 1.
The strangest thing started to happen, 2 or 3 henchies would still be alive and the resurection timer would pop up. Check it out.

That happened to me yesterday, running to Granite Citadel from Copperhead. I was facing the massive group at the end, and eventually ended up with 60% DP, and I was dead, and the ressurection timer started with my archer hench still alive. Though death was immenent, she hadn't died when the timer started.

Thats because (looking at your DP) they all used their res signet.

I wouldn't be surprised they used thier signets already, but they should die and end up at the ressurection shrine with me.
Was some unexpected fun.

I've noticed that too, the respawn counter will start sometimes even when a few henchies are alive. Would be annoying if anything. Respawning half your team only to run up and see the remaining henchies dead cause the timer couldn't wait patiently :|

I'm fairly certain it's "by design", even if you don't like the design.
Outside of missions, if anyone is dead and no one has the ability to ressurect them, you respawn.
That's it. That's the rule of respawning. If you are the only one alive out of eight players, but you have a rez signet available, none of the other seven will respawn. Once you use your rez signet, they will ... unless the guy you rez'd has a ressurection skill available. Etc.

I've gone out to fight my way to some place or another with henchies and have accidentally forgotten some sort of ressurection skill. They end up all eating dirt and I was just left there standing and cursing all that time spent for nothing. :P
Also runners don't carry any res and the rest of the group dies noramally.
So, many it only works when the PC characters are dead and henchies have nothing left?

Well I like it better than them getting stuck or flying off somwhere as it was when the game first came out.I hated to start all over agian and have it all reset itself.

I think that the Archer doesn't have a rez signent, because I always Respawn when she's (or he, late game) the only one left alive. Which means I have to run to where (s)he is an rez him/her.
