Bladed Aatxe vs. Coldfire Night
So I got this "brilliant idea."
What if I can drag the Coldfire Nights out to fight the Bladed Aatxes and Grasping Darknesses in the UW? Could it work?
Let's find out:
Figure 1: Luring Coldfire Nights into the chamber - "Heeere kitty, kitty, kitty!"
Figure 2: Luring Coldfire Nights up the steps to meet their new playmates, the Bladed Aatxes.
Figure 3: Coldfire Nights meet Aatxes and Grasping Darkness -
The result: the monsters think it's better to clobber the smartass monk (me) instead of each other.
Oh well, no real surprises there. But it was worth a shot.

different race monsters used to attack each other... however, they do not anymore... only specially placed monster would attack other monsters (which including their own race)... example the one right outside of droknar's forge

Smite Crawlers fight Coldfires, see it a lot. If you lure some smites near the coldfires and they use Frozen Burst, you'll notice smites casting smite hex. Helps take down the coldfires faster (but it tends to hurt without the right protection).

Well I had already taken out the smites, and I really don't like dealing with Coldfires - that's why I did it.
Maybe you're getting ecto from aatxesm, but I'm not. I got 4 ectos that evening - all from smites.

Since I have been soloing UW I have found 8 ectos, all from aataxes, I haven't gotten one from smites yet. I seem to get an ecto every 2-3 runs.

Since I started soloing UW I've gotten about 23 ecto. My yield is about 50-50 between ectos dropped from smites and aatxes, come to think of it. In any case, I tried luring them mostly for the novelty. I hate Coldfire Nights - they're just a pain to deal with.
I had assumed that when Coldfires fought with Smites - they usually win. Last time I was down there the smites just decimated a group of 3 Coldfires (to my delight). So I just went in and cleaned up the victors.
