With a high expertise, that -5 energy wouldn't be too big of an issue. I agree it would be nice if it didn't have the -5 energy, but as it stands I think it is a nice midlevel bow.

I admit, I know little about mesmer skills. My toon is pretty much pure Ranger, and I know I could live with 5 less energy if I had to. Luckily I don't. I don't use the zealous bows at all, because I very rarely run out of energy. No druid set either, I went for the Desert collector armor set.

My R/Mo uses energy mainly for the healing spells, as the ranger skills and stances hardly cost any energy with high expertise. I have 25 energy and Healing Breeze, Heal Other and other spells will drain your energy within 5 seconds... Luckily, there's this skill called 'Bond Essence'. With that, you won't run out of energy... ever!
That is, if you cast it on tanks that actually tank instead of standing about and picking their nose.
But true, the -5 energy is not something I could live with, not even with a Zealous bowstring combined with Barrage.

I just saw the skills she/he uses... They cover a total of 5 different attributes! I don't understand that build as it isn't specialised in anything at all.
As Leventh said, expertise doesn't help at lowering the mesmer spells so the -5 energy is a bad deal for such a build where ½ of the skills are non-ranger.

The above bow cost me approximately 500 gold and 10 minutes of grinding in Mineral Springs. Most things you find normally are inferior to collector items.

You revived a 3 and a half month old thread just to say that?
Everyone knows about the collector's items by now. In these days, everything is about looks. That's where the majority of the price comes from.
By the way, going to mineral springs is a waste. The dessicated hydra claw collector outside of destiny's gorge has the exact same. And those hydras are easier to kill than avicaras.

Zealous bow string is great for regaining energy. -1 energy degen is worth +1 energy on hit. why? Barrage. and with 13 in expertise it's golden.

Found it myself lol. Except I don't use marks so that mod is useless right now lol.
I am not really a fan of Zealous, unless it's max. Also that -5 energy..
