Only because they don't realize the potential. I'm guessing that many people have experienced people who don't know how to play as rangers.
I feel that they are a very imporant type to have....ANYWHERE. Traps, distractions, etc.
Great all around. Just people don't see.

just as warriors have the stereotype of being idiots some carry the same bias against rangers as noobs with no coherent or effective skillset who doesnt really do anything to help but be a body out there and then runs from the battle if someone sneezes in their direction
yes ive seen many noob rangers fit this profile but i have also seen some very effective rangers, including my own ranger builds

Its funny how so many people in random arenas complain about not having monks around, and then leave if there aren't any. This is just ironic.

Yes, it is.
But still, as hard as it sometimes is not to do it, only losers quit from a PvP match before it's decided.

It's funny how many times things like this get posted. Most people are idiots and we all know that by now. Thanks.

accually you can tell by the rate of the ressing if you are going to win or not.
i leave sometimes b/c not going to waste another minute knowing i'm not going to be ressed when i can join another party in 30 sec or less.

I hate rangers, but not because I think they suck. It's because they won't let me cast anything.
Rangers are awesome.

Have to agree with you, nothing more annoying then watch a lone person trying to take on 2 or 3 people from the other team, think:
Player 1 (Dead): I have a res signet, res me!
Player 2 (Dead): What are you doing, res me and I'll res another!
Player 4 (Dead): I'm going to quit, stop being a nutter and res someone!
Player 3: I don't have a res signet....
sigh!

Isn't it against forumpolicy to show the names of the players in possible flamethreads like this?

It's not that they hate rangers, it's that they're moron faction farmers and drop out of any team which does not have their ideal build (1 war, 1 ele, 2 monks or something along those lines), because god forbid that they'd spend ten minutes and perhaps not win, and of course only teams consisting entirely of wars, eles, and monks can win. Right?
Well, in the fevered imaginations of these guys anyway.
In short, that asshat would likely have dropped if you were a mesmer or necro too. There's tons of asshats like that in the random arenas now; last I played my Mesmer there it was fricking impossible to get a fight a match with both teams full, all because of these morons.

I actually ran into that exact same moron, and we had a ranger in the party and he just dropped
*sigh*
As far as rank being a way to seperate the chaf from the wheat, even morons can farm enough fame to get rank 3

I like Numa's word for people like this. "Asshat" (My adopted word for the day)
I enjoyed my first character (A ranger). Probably out of the three, he had the benefits of being adaptable to whatever playing style suited the rest of the team, and the type of mobs that we'd be facing. With a few tweaks, he could easily hit for a high rate of damage, with poison, interrupt, poison and blind with ease, had a pet who would be a good distraction as well as compound damage to mobs, and could actively or passively trap .
The only downside to my ranger is that Solo farming was difficult.
My guess is that this "Asshat" probably had a single bad experience with a ranger, and chose not to play in teams with rangers for the rest of the game. It's his loss if that's how he chooses to play, after all, everyone's had a bad experience with a n00b W/Mo, Ele or Monk at one stage, but you don't see this stopping them from teaming up with other W/Mos etc. later on, do you?

It's also possible you're playing the FOTM machine gun ranger build and he doesn't want to play with people like that. I usually try to avoid of groups composed of FOTM builds as well, although I'm usually nicer and leave *after* the round instead of before.

So i was in a random team that was really good.
We did 9 flawless victories in a row, and EVERY TIME a ranger wasted our time by running around in circles or triing to do so.
Rangers are the second stupid class right after Warriors, and now they can not abuse spirits anymore.
