why not have a tree there ? vulcanic soil is one of the most fertile you will ever find (know, sounds wierd, but once eroded into smaller parts it's rich on minerals and other nutrients). Apart from maybe a lack of sunlight for photosynthesis, i don't see any problem in trees growing on the RoF island chain :P

Not really... volcanic soil contains a lot of sulfer. Sulfer = bad plant food. Sulfer contains 'nitrites', which is poisonous to plants. However, after a long period of time, bacteria eats away at these nitrites in the soil, and in turn give off waste as 'nitrates', aka plant fooders! (so that diploma is good for something afterall!)
So, well, you are right, just clarifying! *glances around nervously*
That tree is a little out of place... but the designer could come up with some reason as to why it is there. Oh well.
Dev 1 says: "Lets put a tree on a desolate enviornment!"
Dev 2 says: "Good idea, lets also put it in a bed of lava for good measure!"

Oh no a tree, the world is going to end
Congradulations, you have just found the true meaning behind GW... a tree, in the middle of a volcanic island...

I live in Hawai'i and I can tell you that the island is filled with jungles and lots of plant life, and the hawaiian islands still have some active volcanoes that are very mild tempered. The whole island chain is made up of volcanoes, so it's entirely possible.

Many have speculated that if we knew exactly why the tree had thought that, we should know a lot more about the nature of tyria then we do now.

Someone said:
Make something look real... and people will believe it.
The Warriors and Elementalists and Mesmer and stuff like that, in a way they look real. As if they do belong into the world. And they actually do. However said tree doesn't look like he belongs to that place.

It is the bonus island for the mission. It is a long way from any lava, or anything that could kill it. It is entirely feaseable for it to grow on these islands.
