still whether its fake or not is nothing if the guy isnt even going to show it to the person offering 5k just to see it? why? because it is probably a scam/fraud/fake/ or w/e you want to call it.

I've whispered the user on 3 separate occasions. Neither in-game nor in this thread have my offers to affirm the existence to others been acknowledged. So, I'm going to have to regretfully change my opinion on this, and say that it's a fabrication..
A very good one, though.
Plus, I've not seen anyone who has seen it post, regardless of what the user said. I doubt the veracity of the second set of photos, for no other valid reason than the reactions of the others being staged/etc... The video kept me wondering though, but with not even a word of response from the OP, I'm beginning to lose my faith.
Plus the fact that the story isn't consistent. First post says it was obtained from a boss, which was later changed to a 'normal monster'
This is my opinion. Anyone can feel free to prove me wrong. I'd appreciate that, in fact.

This has me intrigued. I really want to see it in person, but until I do I'll have to pass it off as another fake. Add Dan O War to your list of people that you need to show, unless you show someone else from the forums.

Going to have to agree that it's fake. Lasareth, not only does he not acknowlege you in-game, but he doesn't acknowledge you in his own thread, lol! -_-
Just like that very good photoshop of the max sickle. Oh, and the 15>50 req. 8 Dwarven Axe (which I bid over 2 million gold on).
Video or not it's fake unless you show a mod who can take his/her own screenshots - why is that so hard to do, eh? Takes about 3 minutes.
I don't even have to watch the video to assume it's fake solely because of the fact you won't show a mod to confirm it's existence.

I wouldn't expect you to understand the fine art of video & computer animation.
The way the camera view was moving was not HUMANLY possible, and i must conclude that it got COMPUTER EDITED, there is no way a human can move the camera view that perfect and precise.
|
So, lets see. Computer editing of a video like this would require you to make a complete 3d model precisely mimicing GW game mechanics. You'd then rotate it around in the 3d modeling program. Your theory amounts to him making a fake GW "cardboard cutout" and filming that. The rotation of the camera had to be done in game, otherwise there would be no other way to rotate the camera and still accurately dispaly armor, background, etc. Your theory makes no sense at all.
Now, he could have still edited an actual in game movie to create such the sword effect, but he couldn't have spead up or slowed down the camera speed (in order to get the "precise" camera movement). Otherwise, you would notice inconistancies such as the fire dragon sword "burning" too quickly or slowly. It could still be fake, but not because of a rotation of the camera arguement. I also agree that if he didn't move the camera at all, people would be yelling "fake" for that too.

This dude hasn't shown the sword to anyone who posts here.
That alone makes him full of shit. Derek has had almost a week to prove this sword exists by showing it to someone who posts on the forums.
Show the sword to someone who posts here. Preferably, a moderator. Otherwise, go back into your hole.

This reminds me of the time I found a stormbow in there (Well at least I think it was in there, could have been in Iron Mines).
[I also think, IF this thing is edited, it was edited ingame with a data/hex editing program or something, client side]

Even a video can be edited, and especially when it's only 5s long (~125 frames). Until someone serious (not a freshly created account) has been able to see it ingame, I'll believe it's a fake. May be we should spam the OP with ingame private mesages until he either shows the sword or until he admits it's a fake.
Tip if you want to buy a so-called blue FDS: be sure to check it while wielded (not just in an outpost, but in an explorable or in a mission), because the trade window cannot be trusted.

Very nice find. It would not surprise me to hear that Anet has released some skin variances in some of the more poplular items in the game. I would love to see more flavor variances in items, color makes the world beautiful! I can only say that I hope it is not a fraud and thanks Derek, for sharing the pics!

I still think it is a data edit.
I remember my friend making the Ghosts in Halo yellow, before the SDK came out, with HEX values.
