I ettin farm quite often, and I have found this build to be pretty efficent for killing. It is a bit relient on adrenaline, and I haven't gotten to ember light camp to get Phys resistance yet otherwise this would be in the build.

But as of right now I'm a W/Me...but it doesn't matter, because this build is all W skills

4 Ah...Shields up I want to say? adds +20 armor...adrenaline based. i forget
5 gash
6 sever artery
7 galrath slash
8 healing signet

This has some flaws mind you, mainly because I haven't been able to cap hundred blades and haven't gotten phys resistance yet. Once i get htat glads D would have to get out, because hundred blades is an elite skill.

Shields Up doesn't work with ettins, I just wonder why people still use it against meelee mobs

For 8...18 seconds, you and all allies in the area gain 50 armor against piercing damage and 50% chance to block incoming projectile attacks.

Yes, 50 armor against piercing damage, that is what only bows make, except for Piercing axes. And sProjectile atacks, they are wands, bows, staffs, fireballs etc etc.

my build is more for taking them all donw and the same time. u dont need sever and deadly riposte all u need to do is check who took the blow from deadly and gash them. final thrust isnt really needed i dont think i just put it in there for wen ive already maxed out the adren and just kill them instant. You have to spam heal sig alot in here aswell as the riposte which only use with doylak or ur get knocked down with irrisitable blow.

i've been doing this farm for over 2 months and i have found awesome runes like Superior Vigor and Asorption. Problem is im using a Victo's Blade for this farm and when i get to the tengu my mending always gets canceled. Anyone have an alternate sword i could use for this farm?

Although I used to get decent runes, lately my drops on this have just stunk. Someone mentioned that I need to "go do something else," to reset the anti-farming code, but I can't figure out what. I went to Cantha and farmed Naga Fangs but that didn't seem to help. So I ran some people around some, but that didn't seem to help either. Do I have to re-do a missions or something?

It's just like people have said...you have to go do "other stuff". And do that "other stuff" for a while. You can't just go do a mission or farm somewhere else for a few minutes, then come back and expect to get great drops again. It'll take a little while. As to what you should do...whatever you want. Go do some mission bonuses you need. Do runs in different areas. Get through some of the Cantha storyline. Just remember that it'll take a little while to "reset".

Anyway, I just returned to Ettin farming yesterday, because I needed some gold after spending all of mine on new Cantha goodies. For the longest time I thought this run was totally useless, because 80% (and I'm not exaggerating) of ALL the runes I EVER got on the Ettin run have been Mesmer runes. But last night I got my first Sup Absorb, restoring my faith.

just go to Ice caves of sorrow and cap cleave

my build:
Cyclone Axe
Cleave {E}
Executioners strike
Disrupting Chop
Vigorous Spirit
Mending

Healing Breeze
Balthzars Spirit

put all you attributes into axe then put around 10 into strenght the rest into healing and smiting.

all you do is cast mending on your self and balthzars spirit wen you exit the town after that to gain energy just get hit by those mergoyles and run past them to the Ettins.

before you start killing ettins cast vigorous spirit then go and cyclone axe like 3-4 at a time and when they cast heal siggie just do the disrupting chop then hit them constantly with cleave and executioners strike.

lol, every time somebody has a few unlucky runs, they ask if it's nerfed.

I can assure you it isn't nerfed. I got a bunch of Superiors (including Absorb) in the course of an hour last night.

They aren't nerfed, and for the last time, too, Gladiators defense and any other blocking stance or riposte is bad for you, since the ettins use irresistible blow

As w/mes I use:

Physical resistance
Epidemic
Dolyak
desperation blow
sever artery
gash
"Victory is mine"
Sprint

That's all. No interrupt and no heal sig needed

However, I prefer to use a w/fire ele because it is more efficient

Well, after buying the new 15k cantha end of game armor and not having a use for it because i have fow i thought to myself that im not wasting 90k on armor for nothing so i must find a use for it, so i stuck some runes on it and went ettin farming, 19 minutes later i had this. (dont laugh at the build its a work in progress:P but it kills very fast and im happy with it just need a bit more heal)

I use a build very similar to this. I use sprint to get there faster and to make it quicker to reset the zone. Here's a couple tips you might want to try. Instead of using mergoyles to charge up your energy, just go take a swipe at one of the many lynx that are running around so they attack you. I apologize to all you animal lovers

. They can't hurt you, so this tactic is a little safer. Also, I think you will find that with cyclone, live vicariously> mending. With mending you are limited to 4-6 ettins and 6 would be for when you are feeling brave. If you use live vicariously you can take as many as you can aggro without much trouble. Between healing breeze, vigorous spirit and live vicariously you should never really be in any danger. I usually do this with about 380 hp because of superior runes and have no trouble. Cleave is a good skill, but I prefer to use eviscerate for the deep wound. By subbing in sprint for cleave and live vicariously for mending, this yields a build that meets the requirements of a build with no elite. If you have eviscerate of cleave sub that in for executioners. Another point to note is that eviscerate will almost always draw the healing sig. This helps to time disrupting chop. Works well. Try it if you like and let me know what you think.

Wait wait wait wait wait wait....LAUGHING?! Holy bejesus dude you have more golds than ive ever gotten from farmin ettins which is about 15 runs and 3 golds

Im not complaining so shut up
