The best build I have found so far is W/Me, too - but axy!

12 (10+1+1) Axemastery (Booya, 12 ist the way to go!)
12 (10+2)Strength (12% AP, nice Sprint)
9 (8+1)Tactics (107 healed per Signet use)
9 (8+0)Inspiration (62s Resistance)
right, no superior rune needed!

Weapon: Axe, Stance: +15% DMG, any elemental upgrade (i prefer shock), AL vs- physical upgrade
Shield: Def. 16, Stance: +45HP /-2 DMG (green or blue collectors ..)
Armor: Knight's or Ascalon. The Absorb pays of - and it's just 5 AL less than a fullplate armor vs. ettins. (80+10 vs. 85+10) (i have the opinion anyway, that the plate armor is inferior to the other two types. )
Skills:
1. Eviscerate (+34 dmg, 17s deep wound)
2. Executioners Strike (+34 dmg)
3. Cyclone Axe (BPAoE attack, +10 dmg)
4. Disrupting Chop
5. Distracting Blow
6. Sprint (13s +25% movement rate)
7. Healing Signet (+107 Health, -40AL for 2s)
8. Physical Resistance (62s +40 AL vs. physical, -17 AL vs. elemental)

The Healing Sig isn't really needed in fighting, as this build can take up to 5 ettins at once and mows them down. Afterwards, heal up with the Sig, next group. A run from Beetletun to Scoundrels takes ~9 minutes, killing every Ettin on the run. So, it's 6 runs (back & forth) within a hour.

If your servers have favor, remember to drop by the Dwayna monument, /kneel before it and get the 10% morale boost. +2 energy and +HP make it easier. Just keep the stance up and hack away, if they try to heal, interrupt. And do the switchy thing.

Cool

Yea I use a W/Me Sword build as well posted it like 4 or 5 days ago.
Don't really need a running skill...

http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...d.php?t=122867

To be honest most of the time I forget to use FGJ and still kill them very quickly. I don't think it's a very big deal as long as you interrupt they always die quick.

And all the people who keep saying nice job since they're going to nerf it...need to find something better to do. People have been doing it for a very long time. A-Net knows about the drops and the rate. Honestly you don't even make a whole lot of money doing it unless you get *very* lucky. I get golds...but a lot of the time they aren't Sup Vigor(hell a lot of the time they're not even a Sup) and such...the people who get those do this and pretty much nothing else or are incredibly lucky. I myself have done this about 15 times and have not gotten a Sup Vigor or Absorbtion.

It is a very fun farming method. If they nerf it...whatever...but please don't come in here and flame a thread because you're afraid of it getting nerfed. Look at all the Solo/Duo UW threads out there. They still work.

I don't farm out of Beetletun, but out through Kryta into the North Kryta Provence where Ettins usually only run in packs of 2 or 3.

I farm easily with my Mo/E, E/Mo and lastly with W/Mo. The run out of Kryta is only difficult with my Warrior when hitting Level 12 Mergoyles (Deep Freeze) and Level 11 (Soul Barbs/Price of Failure/Life Siphon) or 17 Bogs (PoF/Chilblains/Putrid Explosion) as the mers and any bogs combined can bring a warrior to his knees in seconds.

Head N out of Kryta into Scoundrels Rise, pick off the 4 groups of L12 mers you hit going though the canyon 'cause you can't run through them, once out turn W, take out the 2 L11 bogs one at a time and then the 2 L12 mers. Once the PIA lower level bogs and mergoyles are gone you can basically walk through the lower pass (4 L14 mers & 3 L17 bogs), though the next 2 groups of L14 mers and into N Kryta. With my E/Mo and Mo/E I can easily fight my way through and get okay drops, but with my warrior its horrible with the hexes so I just run through.

In NKP head toward the beach but stay on the bluffs, avoid the L11 bogs if possible and take out any L14 mers on the bluff. 2 or 3 groups of Ettin will usually roam the bluffs (sometimes near bogs, but usually can be drawn away), take them out then turn N toward Ascalon Settlement where you'll usually find 2 or 3 more groups of Ettins. Once you've cleared them, go though AS and W into Nebo Terrace, rezone back to NKP and go back through AS and start all over again.

Some times I get lucky. I've gotten 3 Sup Runes of Divine Favor, 1 Sup Rune of Vigor, Death Magic, other sup runes not worth much, and probably 10 Major Vigors. Lots of other drops too, but nothing worth much gold. Then I've had the run where I've only gotten 8 regular pauldrons and 4 hides.

Here is a really fast kill build:

Sprint
Battle Rage {E}
Galrath
Savage
Final Thrust
Sever Artery
Gash
Mending

I find that i never need to use healing signet as long as i have a vamp 3:1 sword.

Just curious, which axe build is it that you're using, is it the one I posted?

It *definatly* is slower for killing groups of 3 or more. I can kill 3 with my axe build in less time than it takes to kill 2 with the sword build.

Maybe it's just me (i'm not using a firey hilt) but I don't see this being too fast, and with 15 swords, I never hit for over 155 with final thrust, and with Eviscerate (sp) I can spike up to 137ish with 12 axe.

But whatever floats your boat I like sword better for other areas, like FoW, but for ettins, the axe is king.

BTW I did this Battle Rage sword build in TA just for kicks. Replaced sprint with Rez. It was a blast. I was spiking the other team madly with Battle Rage. 3 consecutive wins, and I am a total PvP noob. (hate it for the most part)
Just like my build and this is really old.

Rhuobhe:
Try the build again, or let me say, try sword with Fiery Hilt, you will see the different.
But this Ettins farming is kind of bad these days, bad drops :/

"But this Ettins farming is kind of bad these days, bad drops :/"

might want to go somewhere else and then come back to ettins. I hadn't been ettin farming in probably a week or at least 3 or 4 days. Did 4 runs, got at least 1 gold each time and got a Sup Absorbsion Now I can get armor for all of my chars.

I would testify about the ettin's farm, i have tried several time since 2 weeks, and the results are very differents from one time to another, it happens i get only or almost only white trash!! most of the times i get some blue/purple/one gold of poor quality BUT yesterday it was amazing, look at it:
Rune sup Vigor, rune sup absorption, rune sup smithing, rune sup expertise, rune sup fire, many purple and many blue and all of these in less than 1h30 (clean the both parts of colonie two times!!!) AMAZING, first time i get sup vigor and sup absorption of all the entire game (more than 1200 h of game !!).

Just to keep the up the updates I tested this today with my W/Mo (never died btw, so eat it W/Mo haters!)

Did 5 runs from section 1-2 Beetleton thru ascalon settlement, killing only ettins. Not sure on the time but everyone has different builds for this. Anyway what I got was this in 5 runs:

4 Purple armors
2 Blue
3 Gold

4 blue/2 purple items

I think I got major vigor and sup curses out of these two. But I had at least 1drop per run. Keep in mind I never did the zoning I ran straight there and mapped back to beetletun. And for those who skip the ones outside beetletun, I got my most from there.

dude something that people arn't noticing is that with a w/mo sure u cant die but yet its much slower , mess around with w/r's w/e's w/mes and u might learn something, i did , the build i made has taken down 3 ettins in less than 20 secs and yes i lived , w/mes has a very tasty pshyical resistance , w/r has tigers fury , they all have extra's that are worth more than the monk secondary.

i dont hate w/mo's , a lot of my builds are w/mo , but realy u dont need all that defence for these measly ettins , with these guys its nice to ram up offence and make sure u got enough defence to just stay alive.

There hasn't been an update, there is an anti farming script, your drops will be better the first time. Go farm them, ettin farming is just as drop likely as it used to be.

Edit: I went out to see if I could get a verification here today... This is what happened my first run:

I use a W/R build, works awesome.

Sword and Axe builds:
Attribs:
Str: 7 (6+1)
Axe: 15 (11+4)
Tactics: 10 (9+1)
Beast Mas: 9

The sword attrib's are the same, except for swapping the 15 on Axe to 15 on Sword.

Been doing the ettin run alot and drops do vary alot. First 2 times i tried i died at first mob, but since then its been easy and belive it or not on my first full successful run i got a sup absorbtion, and another time a sup vigor as well was various other sup runes. I just use my normal e/me build for it, as i find it works great here as well as in general pve / pvp.

E/Me

earth magic 16 (12 + 3 + 1)
energy storage 13 (12 + 1)

earth attunement
aura of restoration
armour of earth
ether renewal (Elite)
stone daggers
crystal wave
earthquake
aftershock

you have to fight the first part outside beetletun its tricky taking on the avicara at times but with a little practice its done easily. Once you reach the ettins make sure all 3 main enchantments are on (attunement, aura and armour) and get as many ettins around you as you can, up to 10 even. do crystal wave, earthquake followed by aftershock for high damage. and stone daggers to finish and to kill time while other skills recharge. Aura of restoration and armour of earth keeps you alive as you cast spells, and when you are nearly dead or need energy use ether renewal (make sure all 3 other encahntments are still active) and spam stone daggers as many times as you can until ether renewal wears off. this should almost max out your health and energy. if posssible use aftershock on its own when they use healing signet as it does high damage. this really works and goes to show that not only warriors can farm. i have also seen fire eles farm here with lots of area of effect spells

My best run was 3 Sup monk runes 1 Sup vigor 1 sup absorbtion. In 1 day. You just have to work it but not farm every day. Also Rune prices have dropped alittle because of the griffon nerf.

They have been dropping steadily for a while. I am sure I have single handedly drivin them down a few percent because of my teaching and threads ahah or maybe not who knows. Anyways I am sure they will continue to go down and bottom out sometime soon.

I farm them every day and I've had 2 sup absorbtions and 2 sup vigors (amongst other runes) in the past 5 days.
