He's using preperations...
Similar to how my warrior will do /no if she uses a preparation.
(I can't think of how to spell prep, so I used it twice in this post so that I could write it both ways...that way hopefully one will be right...)

I had the same thing happen to me with one of the Bone Dragons that surround Rotscale (sp?) the lvl 30 bone dragon. I went there for fun and I killed all of them solo with my warrior, and then, when the last of the 4 bone dragons was dead, it stayed on the screen, falling and getting back up. Weird glitch.. thought for a sec that it had resurrected somehow.

One of the missions had a bonedragon, Rotscale I think. Anyway my group killed him but he kept standing up and laying down even after he was dead. Couldnt decide if he was actually dead or not.

When monsters use Preparations or lay traps, they use knocked down animation. I think it is a bug or a lazy compromise to show players that they are using that kind of skills.

The weirdest is the boss Whuup Buumuul outside Droknar. When he uses Frozen Soil, he freezes with his arms out (the nothing at all animation). It's very annoying.
The fall animation is used by devourers alot, since they love traps.

I think the Knock down animation sorta make sense because if your laying down traps you won't just be standing up still you would be more like kneeling. And if this is true Anet did a poor job on the animation.
