Try to understand... there wouldn't have been a profit. There wouldn't have been an economy. Even if prices rose at some point, to a degree, organized trade outside that of the trader would have been effeciently over.

Nice screen shots though. :-D

yeah, the market would have been flooded with so many sup abs, that it would have taken a year or two for the price to raise back up

Thats pretty funny, that Guild wars would have went through a depression, where gold is worth more then items, XD 200 gold could buy you the most expensive things.

Wouldn't matter. They reverted the entire game (all accounts) to a point before the traders bugged.

The whole idea and reasoning of a roll back was simple. They didn't want to destroy the economy.

A rollback works approximately as such:
With any server or high end machine that keep what are called back-ups. This is where they keep a copy of everything to date. So say they backed up thier systems now, they would have everything done since day 1 to now. When a problem like this happens they have to take the back-up and restore it to the original server, and thus overwriting everything that happened since that backup was taken(obviously the back up can't know what happened after it was created.

The back up took a LONG time for a very simple reason as well, quanity. They had to restore servers for say 4 continents. Each server has say 5 RAID(Redundant array of inexpensive devices, horrible spelling by me.) HDD so 5*4=20. Each rollback would have taken maybe 45 minutes to do. Im surprised it didn't take them longer. Props to the Anet geeks.

The reasoning for the roll back is simple economics of supply and demand. Everyone has 500 Sup Absorb or Obsidian Shards, no body is there to buy them, they are worthless. The only thing to do with them is to craft your FoW armor. Over time(a long time) the runes and materials would dissipate and prices would increase, probably not to the original cost.

Oh...I wish I could have kept those shards and absorbs though..Oh how I wish...
