Having played another popular online game long ago, I expected that ArenaNet would roll everything back. Districts were horribly broken, nobody was buying the crafting materials that I had gone to the Forge to try to sell, people were calling each other "n00blet n00bity n00bcakes" left and right.

Having nothing better to do, I decided to amuse myself.

I think I spent a total of 7.5k on runes. I got bored at that point and went off to watch the tele.

Everything gets taken back.

That's what a rollback is.

that last laugh is on everyone who is going to lose everything they "profited on" during this

I'd be pissed if it was happening to me... but it isn't... actually I'd be pissed if they let everyone get away with it.

they should... its like doing a computer restore from a save made 2 weeks ago... everything is restored exactly how it was 2 weeks ago. Same with the roll back... it will be as though that hour never existed.

Why is it that it seems 99% of people don't have a clue that a rollback is taking place and what it means. There is nothing to have missed.

Well I didnt know there was gonna be a roll back. I thought it was just gonna be like the time the trader reset and ectos were going for like 250g each.
My question about the roll back tho is that what happend if you got an incredibly good drop or you just capped a skill or whatever. Does that get rolled back too?
Exactly how does the roll back work?

Edit: btw im guessing that this day is gonna rank right up there with the AoE nerf as guild wars days of infamy or something to that effect lol

A game that is online constantly saves all existing data. A rollback is where the servers are restarted from a previous save. Basically, the time after the save they restore has not happened. If you threw all your items into the sea after that point, you will have them back, all xp, caps, missions done will revert to their status at the time of the reloaded save.

They're only removing the time after the error took place, so nobody will lose anything extra. However, anything you did after that point will be deleted as well.

I'm with Anet on the rollback choice.

That was an intended reset of priced by Anet to try and repair the economy somewhat. This rolled back because it was unintentional, when the price data failed to shift along with the regular data when Anet was moving server stuff.
