Yup, it happens if you try to cap ferocious strike off the boss in Frozen Forest. He's got to have a pet to use that skill right?

Yeah, the skill is a pet attack. He doesn't have to have a pet to cap it, though... just kill him. Also, there are usually 2 other elder wolves in the area. With some luck, you can charm them. Nice headstart instead of a level 5, like all the other pets (other than UW spider).

You stumbled on the "lair" of the fero. strike boss. That place is packed with Stone Summit Rangers, that can charm pets. (funny thing is, the boss rarely ever has a pet, becuase his lackeys take them all so fast)
