The blue is too bright, it takes away the focus from the necro

Its a nice first try, but try softening the edges on the necro layer.

Slightly OT, but 'photoshopping' these days doesn't necessarily mean that the image is made with Photoshop. People can make image manipulations with Paint Shop Pro or GIMP, and still call it 'photoshopped'.

But true, prolly in this case, they used Photoshop

Google The GIMP, and it'll come up with it first result. Its a free image editing program, which is quite good for a free program or so I've heard.

I use Paintshop Pro, for the record.

Well, first your necro seems pale with a bit of high contrast. Second, the background is too bright and the color distracts from the subject. What you should do is the opposite; make your necro clear with good color and brightness and use a softer, less colorful background.

Show us your next try.

GIMP -> Gnu Image Manipulation Program

Basically, photoshop for linux (and windows) but free.

Gimp can do a few things that photoshop can't (such as a built-in scripting language that allows you to make your own plugins) and photoshop can do a few things Gimp can't (specific effects for a text layer)
