Mesmers suck in PvE...
Straight pure damage is better in PvE than the Mesmer's degen. As for the domination skills, well energy denial just isnt that effective in PvE. They can interrupt, but so can Rangers, and rangers can also do more straight damage.
Diversion for example, lenghtnes the recharge of the next skill the enemy uses...well sure thats cool and all but the monster will hopefully die in less than 30 seconds.

the avarage pug is just plain stupid ... thinks he knows better what to do than anyone else, why listen to others then and work as a team ^^ ...
they consider mesmers, one of the elite classes of the game, to be useless 'because everyone does so' ..
if you can, do your stuff with henchs. if you cant do that, do it with friends. if you cant do that, do it with guildies. if you cant do that, disco and wait a bit until friends or guildies are online .... take pugs only as a last resort or if you are the group leader and have kick-power on your side -.-

PuGs aren't that bad, if they are experienced players who know what they are doing.

That's what all those teams fighting Josso Esher and Willa the Unpleasant thought.
You've also missed a large function of mesmers pve skills - domination has several straight damage skills as well that are comparable to fire nukes. Ranger interrupts are also focused - they have nothing that competes with Cry in terms of tearing down a group.

...And that's why I take warrior henchmen, Lukas Vasburg has a smaller ego than PC wars... He can also spell better.
As a final note, using PuG opinion to judge the usefulness of something in PvE is similar to using RA to test the metagame in PvP.

If you have nothing actually constructive to say. YOu shouldn't say anything at all. This seems like a blatent attempt to stir up aggro.

I play a mesmer in PvE also and their build or role is generally very specific. That ofcourse is for the first chapter, but in factions, there is SO many large mobs that the need for surgical single target elimination becomes pointless. Might aswell get a nuker or SS necro, because they all die pretty quick.
Not to say mesmers suck in PvE; no they don't. Just other professions get the job done quicker, more efficiently in many many areas. In terms of damage, a nuker or an SS necro does far more AoE then a mesmer can do. In terms of interruption a simple Barrage ranger carrying Savage and Distracting can be more effective in interruption on a spammable scale while inflicting a decent amount of damage with barrage. Ofcourse, a mesmer with 4 interrupts and Mantra of Recovery can do a hellish amounts of interrupts, but that build becomes built ENTIRELY to do that, limiting it's own versatility to do anything else.
When I play a known pve mission or quest, I ask myself what's going to help the team the most? straight up damage ala FS fire or an interrupt mesmer where we fight a mixed amount of melee/casters?.
Most of the time the answer is the first one where killing the mob as fast as we can.
It's all perspective though, play the game how you like it and get your $50 worth out of it
Edit: Oh, I laughed pretty hard at the picture there.
Pretty much sums up how mesmers feel in the pve realm :P

I have only had factions for a little while now (don't have the first one) and with my 4th character slot made a Mesmer.
I have to say it is my favorite character so far. Made a Rit and a Sin with the first two then decided to make a monk since everyone needs a monk in their party.
I haven't found any problems finding groups with my Mesmer.

you know, when this mesmers isn't the first thing normal pug teams pick up topics like these pop-ups most of the people here tells stuff like: mesmers ftw, people who don't like mesmers isn't good etc
so it seems there is few of them or just that only "good" players like mesmers, i myself loves mesmers cos they got plenty of counters and degen and fast cast and support and and and...

THANK YOU! Even if you know how to play it, no one picks up Sins. Especially at Unwaking Waters (I had to equip a Staff and Conjure Phantasm to fight Kunnavang).

Well I made my mes after my monk, and using henchies is far too much work for me after always being able to get groups..but I actually got through all of factions with the best kind of pugs..random ones. When its 9am, people will take anybody..I always end up in groups with 4 people LFM and we'll end up with 8 and not have any monks or take henchies, and do fine anyway.
Whats funny is that Im not a good mes at all, I just like spamming shatter hex on warriors.

That makes you better than a good deal of mesmers, since shatter is one of the best pve mesmer skills Now you just need some more dom skills, some interrupts, and you're set..

that's cause 90% of the assa's in pve are, sadly enough, utter retards. I remember making a group with my assa, got some guildies to get it started, and i decided to pick that other poor "LFG" spamming assa guy in aswell. After 5 mobs or so he already died 7 times i didn't die once that mission
