Hector is a Reef Lurker!
As I was running around with the hench doing some mind numbing mapping for my cartographer title, I noticed we had a pet listed as one of our allies...
Remember that scene from True Romance, where Michael Rapaport is doing that screen test for TJ Hooker? That's similar to how my response was to Ol' Hector: "WTF is that reef lurker doing in my party?!"
The funny thing was that Aurora kept going on and on about Hector not liking me. After a bit, I realized that "Hector" actually belonged to the Luxon Ranger who was just milling about.
I guess it's a bug that that reef lurker showed up in my party. Still, it was pretty amusing.
Oh, btw, as far as that guild chat goes, my old lady, Peri, just got her cartographer title when I met Hector. Thanks goes out to Livingston and all the other guys/gals posting assistance for these pita cartographer titles.

More like a feature I suppose. All allied pets show in the window. Like in AB you can see pets from other parties.
I'm not convinced that the crab is Hector.

Well, considering "I" don't have charm animal on my skillbar, and according to Guildwiki, Aurora or Daeman do not have charm animal on their skillbars... again:
"WTF is that reef lurker doing in my party?!"

one of the luxon rangers has it as a pet. no clue WHY it shows in YOUR party window, but as Rathcail mentioned already, its just the case, just like in AB with other ally's pets..
and "Hector" is either an old/imaginary "friend" of Aurora, or the spirit of Favourable Winds =P
oh, btw, good luck with your 100% - know how frustrating it is, got canthan (without livingstons guide but with wonderful map analyzing ^_^) and got quite...not getting off topic :P *smacks self*

I used to get the same thing while doing the luxon arena quest, a reef lurker just joined the team though there was no ranger at all. It happened pretty often^^

What happens is this:
At the start of the Arena quest, the criminal force are non-hostile NPC units, and can be labeled as allies. However, since they are regular non-hostile NPC units, they don't show in your party list as allies.
If there is a Reef Lurker, a Ranger criminal will charm it. Since it was once non-hostile, then became hostile, and was then again non-hostile because of the Charm, it gets slapped into your party list as an ally, just as it would if a Ranger in your own party had tamed it.
When the criminals go hostile, the Reef Lurker does not, as it's AI is not programmed for that action. So you have, essentially, a free chunk of cannon fodder on your team to help you complete the quest.
My explanation is a bit choppy, but that's the reason you had a Reef Lurker on your team.
