The Cheap Black Experiment
Okay, so thanks to the dye preview, I stumbled across a way of making a nice, cheap black dye.
It's not as black as the new black, but it's comparable to old black:
This result was gotten by mixing green and purple, a trivial cost of something like 220 gold at most.
So how about everybody gives it a go and posts their results?
I can say right off the bat that warrior Istani looks particularly good with this combo

Looks like Grey, or dull grey/black to me. I'm going to stick with White me thinks

My friend tried that on his armor and it came out as a blue-ish color.. the color of like a dolphin or a shark. Pretty cool.

Ah, but it's cheap enough to just try innit?
GWAN, I *KNOW* you've prolly got a spare set of armour lying around somewhere that you barely use

Green+purple is a really good color combination because it has various results on different armor. My ranger's 15k luxon armor looks kind of magenta, whereas my ele armor came out similar to the color on the dervish armor. I think it depends on the class to be honest.

Well, that was true under the old dye system- there G+P would give you anything from bright blue to maroon to just purple.
The new system is supposedly more consistent, though judging by iam's pic there's still some discrepancies.

All armors still have their own base color modifier.

nah uh, the base color is grey now, so technically the dyes should still be uniform across all classes right? well we also have to factor in the different materials each armor is made of.. dervish=cloth assassin=spandex (actually leather) so any discrepencies(sp) should be based on the fact its different materials not different base colors
but then again i COULD be wrong as hell

thanks for sharring! Tried it on my 15k cathan sin and 15k cathan warrior and they both looks great. Slightler lighter than the old black but only the fraction of the cost.
On the monk it turend out like a bluish green. so i guess it kinda does depend on the type of material of armor like ulivious said?
I'll see if I can post a screenshot tonight.

It's a nice cheap way of making "black" for a few armors, but not all of them. I discovered it a while back while testing out different and unusual color combinations in dying. I use it on two of my armors, and you can clearly see they aren't the same. And I tried it on another, even more different.

You're wrong. Take my Dervish for example:
While it may look like the armor is one uniform color, or very close to it, the dye equations for the pieces are different. This is a mix-match of 4 different armor types, yet they all require the same materials of tanned hides and steel (except the hood). So yes, lyra is right, all (or most) armors have their own modifiers.
