Personal Platemail Bugbear
Ever since a friend pointed this out to me shortly after I got my 15k plate (not very long after the Prophecies release), this has really bugged me:
And it's obviously not exclusive to 15k plate.
Seriously, why cover everything up but leave the neck exposed?
Isn't that contrary to the spirit of the armour's design?

Yep pretty much that is the reason I guess. Besides no amount of armor is going to save you from having your head clean cut off

You've got sodding great ridge-things on your shoulders to stop your neck getting swiped at.
Aaanyways, if there was armor at that spot, the clipping would look really weird at all those times (cutscenes, emotes, etc etc) when your char does move his head...

I"m so saddened because when I originally read the subject I thought it would be about the picture from the D&D monstrous manual of a bugbear which did in fact involve a breastplate and leggings if I recall.
Man if you could find that armor glitch that gets you a furry face and arms then that would be somehting.

you need to be able to move your neck, and you see the high collar? thats really all the protection you'll need, seeing you're an adept warrior based on your armor then you should be pretty good at parrying with a sheild, no need for a protection from the back of your neck, besides if it really matters that much get a ascalon helm :P

I agree, it looks stupid. They should have made the neck covered. Who cares about realism anyway..
Kurzick and Primeval armor don't show the neck either, do they?

^kurzick does shows the neck area even though they are wearing a chain mail turtle-neck. you can see it clearly from the back.

The armor is made to have a higher neck coverage on one side due to the stance of a warrior in battle. As said, the armor is meant to allow for neck movement, but if I were you, I wouldn't take it too seriously. After all, look at that armor, then look at 15k glads. There's a lot more exposed on that set.

Eh.. I think only the mods can have them.. that's why you can see Firebat with one..
I wish there was no neck gap on the 15k Kurz..

Nexus is wearing high-end gear??
On subject: I've never really paid attention to that, nor to anything in that "Armor Malfunctions" thread. It's just an itty-bitty detail, and if it bugs you so much...Oh well.
I can't really talk, however. I have a real annoying pick peeve involving awkard walking/running animations in RPGs.

The 15k kurz helm annoys me, mostly because it doesn't go down very far on the head. You can see the bottom of the ears, and quite a bit of neck. I happened to be standing next to someone whth a primeval set, and I noticed that that set does not have the same problem, as far as I could tell.

That's the point of glads armor, you have to be able to move around (like a gladiator), and notice how compared to other armor glads has less of an armor level, and notice how the arm that holds the weapon has armor plating and the arm holding the shield just has the glove/bandage.
So anyway about the platemail, you think the male warriors have it bad look at the female version of the armor the whole neck is exposed and the top part of the chest and the female version doesn't have the big guards around the neck.

quite fast actually...the outer plate was actually pretty thin and mostly for deflection, a simple dagger could penetrae plate without problem...the underlying chain mail was the true power of full plate. An in shape person could jump/roll/dance in full plate. All the rest is just fiction.
