Assuming that ANet didn't rename characters just to pull this off. And before someone says that ANet can't rename characters, I think that if your IGN is deemed offensive then ANet will make you change it. So all they needed to do is flag Gaile Gray's character as having an offensive name, make the new character with that name, then reflag the first character to change the name back when finished with the PvP character (if a record is kept of names deemed offensive ANet would simply have to delete that entry from the records).

As for the ANet Office servers, they would have to be testing patches before releasing them. So all they needed to do there is bring it to the current version of guild wars, then connect those test servers up to the main ones.

So it seems possible that its genuine, but I think that its either an edited screenshot (take screenshot with no text, then place text in a matching font onto it) or a guild announcement trick.

Either way its a picture and it was supposed to be somewhat funny that something like that would possibly happen.

I'm shutting this down and I wont bother to reopen it unless ANet comes to me to confirm/deny this event over what Gaile said earlier in the thread.
