Because lens flare is one of the simplest effects, and is therefor very popular amongst Photoshop newbies... Which is fine.

But it's so ugly by itself. Atleast mix in some other effects if you must, just so it has a nice flow.

Green actually doesn't look too bad by itself. I was going to dye mine Silver but then again, that's all over the place so I dyed mine red.
