MY favorite ranger look, would be my own of course . Here's Wind Singer Dierdra, my R/Me, made after watching Illicit Awakening [iA] one too many times in Halls lol *yes I'm a fan of iA lol XD*. The dye combo is Blue+green+green+green, 4 dyes, just to get my favorite color green for 15k druid's. BAH, textures can be a nuisance sometimes lol. I just LOVE using my ranger in PvP lol. Love having the stormbow even more...not so much because stormbows look so darned cool, but because it matches well, "I think" with the outfit. I'd LIKE to get Druid's FoW armor for her but..that's just WAY out of my price range, and I gotta save up for factions now >_>;; lol poor me, and lucky yous who have it =*( *Doesn't mean I won't love looking at and admiring those who DO have it though =)*

No offense, but that pic reminds me of how absolutely ridiculously the characters in gw shoot their bows. I guess none of the developers have ever actually shot a bow and hit what they meant to hit. I've done archery using the "intuitive" shooting form (bow straight up and down or close to it, arrow rests on flap on the correct side of the bow so you can aim down arrow for close targets or use gauge for longer targets) and have done pretty well, and if you've ever messed around and tried shooting with the bow tipped to 90 degrees, you know how ridiculously innacurate that is.

Since when did anything in this game was close to reality? We have people like Elementalists who can summon elements from outta no where. Monks who can randomly heal someone of their ailments and painz, a Warrior who can take massives amounts of dmg and not die, a Mesmer who randomly casts hexes and stuff, and even necromancers who sacrifice themselves for others or summon random minions from corpses that have no similarity. Yeah, so Rangers shooting in weird/awesome poses is not out of the ordinary in GW.

I believe the horizontal firing position was done to prevent premature bow-bottom-burial by shorter toons every time they fired an arrow...

Yeah, but unlike magic, people can use bows and arrows in the real world. Having the rangers shoot with the bow sideways is like if they had the warriors wield their heavy weapons backhanded.

Yea, but although it might be just as unweildy for both of those things.... somehow I think a warrior weilding their weapon behind their back would just look idiotic. I can just imagine a warrior using cyclone axe and just flailing around and falling over, and then me falling off my chair cuz I'm laughing too hard. Although it may not be the best or most accurate position to fire the bow from, who cares? It looks crazy cool.

Wielding something backhanded means holding it so that the business end is on the pinky side of you balled fist as opposed to normal, on the index finger side. The only common weapons that can be efficiently used when held backhanded are daggers.

You do know that there are Avicara who are just human like birds wield swords backhanded. :L Besides, who cares if they made this game realistic by means of Ranger's shooting. :/ Looking Cool > Reality shooting.
