Tyria's Most Wanted Male! Application Forum!
Think the females are having all the fun? Want to show that males can show off to? Do you think you have what it takes to be Tyria's Most Wanted?
With Tyria's Next Top Model underway and going strong, I thought I would give the male characters of Guild Wars a chance to pose for the camera and show the real meaning of being fierce.
Yes, this is the brother contest of TNTM and under the special permission from Lady Nilene. Some friends and guildies of mine and I have banded together to take on that challenge to find Tyria's Most Wanted. This contest has the same mechanics and rules as the female version, because we decided we should keep this as fair as TNTM rather than throwing everyone for a loop with new rules.
For this contest we will only be accepting 10 contestants. Not that 12 isn't a good number, we just feel this should just run through the summer.
Please note:
1. The character your applying must be male, for this is the male version. Sorry girls, but there is already a contest for you. Give the guys a chance.
2. English is the language that is used for this contest.
3. The Pacific Time Zone is used for all our times and dates.
4. You understand the rules used for the photos turned.(Read below)
5. Critiques will be given. No matter how harsh
6. This contest will span into Mid-August. Please make sure you are free until this time.
7. The TMW has the right to change rules(with notice) at anytime, and have the power to eliminate/disqualify if misconduct to the contest and or forums rules are broken.
8. That you understand the screenshot forum rules. If you are banned from the forums, you are immediately disqualified from this contest.
Rules for Screenshots:
1. Absolutely no screenshots of cut scenes. I know they are pretty, but you, the contestant, aren't actually in control of the character.
2. Absolutely no photo manipulation! No photoshop, opencanvas or any outside program's effects or anything is allowed to be added to your screenshots! There is a thread for that
3. No head gear, unless noted.
4. When turning in your photos you must send in a cropped and uncropped version.
5. Please, when including other characters you must give their name. Of course, ask their permission!
6. Please, read the screenshot forum rules! If you are banned from the forums, you are immediately disqualified from this contest.
Applying:
Send your applications of your mainly man and the following questionnaire below to the following e-mail: [email protected]
Due to the many junk mail that I found, please have the subject line read " TMW/ "Character Name"/Profession
1. Name of your applying Guild Wars guy
2. Profession the applying Guild Wars guy is.
3. Campaign the applying Guild Wars guy is from.
4. Campaigns the applying Guild Wars guy has.
5. Armor sets the applying Guild Wars guy has.
6. Country you live in.
7. Time zone.
8. How would you liked to be contacted by? (e-mail or pm?)
9. Are you familiar with ANTM/Modeling/TNTM/or any other modeling shows?
10. Have you ever applied/been accepted into TNTM?
11. If you have been accepted, under which name where you applied as? If no, just leave this blank
12. What is your favorite profession combo on you applying character and why?
13. Why is your guy unique amongst the other applicants?
14. Why do you want to participate in TMW?
Along with the questionnaire we would like to see your character strut his stuff. We would like three different pictures.
15. Two pictures must be taken in the explorable area, Isle of the Nameless. This area is right outside Temple of Balthazar to give your guy more freedom. Watch out for the skill/spell effects!
16. One picture should be a nude and be taken in an outpost/Guild Hall. The Guild Hall must be your own guild's/alliance's/Guest invitation. Don't use the Guild Hall Ambassador in Temple of Balthazar. No clothes guys, just your boxers/briefs.
Applications will be due on May 25th, 2007.
The top 10 will be announced May 26th or May 27th
First assignment will be on May 28th
Prize Package is up to 100k and growing!
There is also something new we are going to add to this contest. For each assignment week there will a Special Guest Judge invited on the judging panel to give their own critiques and scores of the contestants!
There will be weekly prizes from week to week for "Weekly Stud." Although some weekly prizes will not have options to choose from.
I can not stress enough, please read, understand and abide by the Screenshot Forum Rules! Please do not spam in this thread. If you have any question or comments please contact me by [email protected], or in-game. Please no PMs my box is full at the moment until further notice.

THE SCREENSHOT RULES AS REQUESTED
Screenshot Expo Forums Rules - PLEASE READ before POSTING!
User notes will be added against you if you don't follow these rules! No exceptions!
The 3 Strikes System:
When any of the below rules are broken, you will receive a strike against your username. The system works like this:- 1st Strike - People will be warned via a PM + thread warning + (if necessary, close or soft-delete of their post or thread)
- 2nd Strike - Addition Warning via PM + (if thread close + soft-delete)
- 3rd Strike - 1-3 Day Ban without warning
All incidents are documented!
General Guidelines:- No character names can be displayed in images, unless premission is given, or its your own character
- All posts are subject to the rules of the Guild Wars Guru forum guidlines.
- Swearing in images are not allowed, make sure to censor them. The whole word must be censored, not just part of it.
Image Posting:- Images must be no larger then 800 x 600. If they are then please do the following:
- Please convert images to .jpeg if possible. Images that are over 600KB in size will be converted to URL links or deleted.
- Thumbnails, such as the ones provided by ImageShack are recommended for all images.
General Chatting within Threads - NOT ALLOWED!:
- This thread is not a chat room! Don't use it as such. This also falls under spamming! (See below)
- Please don't use the thread as a kind of chat-room. If you wish to discuss random stuff then please use forum PMs, e-mail or chat in-game if you like. Not in the thread.
- Chat room talk / spam will be deleted.
Replying to Posts + Spamming:
The GWG forum rules on spamming are very clear:
Quote:
5. No Spamming Post count - no matter how impressive a high number might look - is irrelevant here. Therefore, please do not spam these forums, or such posts will be deleted. To determine whether or not your post can be considered as spam, ask, "does this add to or advance the thread in a constructive way." If you answer, "yes," then chances are, you're good to go. Examples of spam posts include: “Yeah me too," "lol”, “that’s what I wanted to say…,” “what the guy above said…”, etc.
|
- Please keep all replies tasteful. Swearing, flaming, crude comments, pointless comments will not be tolerated!
- +1 post count spam is not encouraged! Mods actively found themselves deleting this kind of spam from a number of the Screenshot threads. The "Post your Character" threads in particular. The following clearly explains the differences between a comment/chat and a spam/+1 post:
Quote:
Posts that are impolite, crude, offensive, or otherwise failing to reflect on the thread or forum in a positive manner will be deleted as spam.
Furthermore posts that fail to contribute to discussion in a meaningful way or are intended to draw attention away from the original subject will also be deleted as spam!
|
- Don't post just for the sake of adding +1 to your post count. Post counts aren't important on this forum.
- KEEP ON TOPIC! If its a weapon thread, don't discuss armour. If it's a armor thread don't discuss farming, titles, chest running or weapons!
- We don't encourage people to pointless go about posting meaningless psychobabble for sake of just increasing their post count. Your spam will be deleted and noted, so don't do it!
Quote:
We reserve the right to edit posts for format, content, or clarity, without notice. However, we will not intentionally change the substance of what anyone says, and will inform you if we make any substantial changes. Posting meaningless deranged psychobabble with no substantial merit or posts that do not contribute to the thread discussion will more than likely be deleted without notice.
Any post which violates civilized standards of decency or good conduct will be deleted immediately and without any further notice. Repeat offenders will be temporarily or permanently banned.
|
Screenshot Requests within Threads:- Please don't request screenshots. We have a whole sub-forum for that here:
http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/f...play.php?f=245
- Please discuss the thread topic, but requests for screenshot should be made in the forum above.
Reporting Spam and other Rule Breaking:
If you see a rule-breaker, don't hesitate to use the report feature located at the bottom left of each post.
Closing Large Threads:
Like what is done in Off-topic, we plan to close one by one the large Post Your ____ threads and recreate them from scratch after 1k posts.
Older threads will be added to a archive list on the forum sticky of course and the new threads would replace them in the main list of threads.

As like with the Female Version of the TNTM contest the spamming rules will be slightly lax in this thread. Please do not make any of the screenshot mods have to clean up anything too messy. Once all applications are in and the Contestants are announced I will create a feedback request thread in the Request sub forum of the screenshot area as I have done with the Female Version...

Dakota wishes he could enter, but he seems to be hindered by the fact that he's only level 8, and only has Ascalon, LA, Droks, and Kaineng Also, his friend Mango seems to be getting all the attention lately...>_<...grr!
Oh well, at least he got to model for the banner
Good luck to all the applicants
ALSO: If anyone needs a guest invite to Nomad's or Warrior's Isle, I'm an officer in two guilds, so I can help you out. Just ask me on the thread or PM me ingame

FAQs
(More will be added later on in the forum if more questions seem to persist)
Does Lady Nilene know about this?
Yes, she does. In fact she was the first one I asked before I even started planning for it.
So, is Lady Nilene in charge of this? The format is the same.
No, Lady Nilene is not in charge of TMW. She has TNTM and wouldn't have time to do this. This is why I offered to organize it myself. Please do not start PMing her about this contest!! About the format, yes its the same because essentially its the same exact contest based off the same show. Why confuse people with new rules? Plus, I asked Nilene herself if I could borrow the format.
Who are the judges?
No, I'm not going to tell who the judges are. And your wrong if you think one is me. I'm only the host that had organized this contest together. My three judges will be hidden throughout the contest and through time. Some people cant take harsh criticism, no matter what they say and I don't want my judges being harassed for this.
Wait your in TNTM...
Yes, I'm in TNTM but I don't think I should recieve any more attention than I deserve. I'm doing this for the sole fact that I read many posts from Cycle 1 and 2 that people wanted a male version. This not gain me any points for TNTM or any favor from the judges. TNTM and TMW are two seperate contests, so lets keep it that way.
In the Isle of Nameless pictures, should we avoid or utlize the skill/spell effects?
Try to stay away from them if you can. Sometimes they are an added effect but in this case for the application its a distraction.

Oh yeah! Finally time to give the male characters a chance too! Looking very much forward to seeing male entries. Sadly, my own paragon is nowhere near accomplished enough to enter this contest...
A question: Will there be a screenshot feedback thread, like the one for TNTM? Or should those two be combined?
I think that if this thread is going to become as popular as TNTM, a separate thread for screenshot requests would be a great idea. Still, I guess that can be thought over until we know who the 10 finalists are going to be. Even if a thread like that would be interesting to follow already at this point...
Edit: Ah, ok. My question was answered already.

Finally! I've so been looking forward to this <3.
About the headgear rule, how absolute is it? I mean I understand that most mesmer, assa and ranger masks cover the face, but I personally think the headgears of every class are part of the character (I don't go anywhere without my Rt hat on).
Now, if I only got my Necro out of Ascalon...

I'm so entering my necromancer to that. Just have a question though: I'll be in Japan from next Monday to mid-July, I might not be available all the time, and my only computer will be a crappy laptop with no anti-aliasing (I can always arrange to take pics in high quality, but I really can't do anything about the anti-aliasing). Will I be penalized because of the latter? >_<;;

I have to say, I am a little sad that the name was Tyria's Next Top Male Model, but welcome to the top model family nontheless! lol
I wish you guys luck and success for your first cycle! Good luck to you guys, and to the future contestants, I'll definitely be watching as well! And maybe, just maybe, I would love to try out with my male mes or monk, but I don't know, I've been on a stretch on time, especially now that I work full time since I'm done with this semester of school. boo, work sucks lol

The no headgear rule isn't really absolute at this point and time. Although there will be an assignment or two that will let you have that option to use it or not. For the application, I require it to be off, because I want to actually see your character's face. With the headgear on, that character could be any random Rit or whoever anyone chooses.

I know I loved TNTMM, but I guess RTS got to answer before I did. He is right though, because everytime I talked to the judges and mention TNTMM, they would think that I was talking about TNTM. So, yeah I had problems with it already(and the abbreviation is hard to say at times lol), so we decided on TMW. It is still part of the family!

Glad that you are entering your necro.Hmm...I don't believe you will have a problem at all. It is a minor flaw amongst the screenshot, but I understand not everyone will have the best graphics in the world, including having the option of anti-aliasing or not.
