Photoshoot Assignment 09: Sunspears Spokesmodel - Evaluations
In alphabetical order:
Arala Starsong
The people's army, the triumphant force
The sunspears marching on
Through long brave battles, heroes are forged
The legends marching on
Their stories sung proudly, their names exalted
The eternals marching on
Come join the Sunspears, and fight for freedom
Your name will linger on
Judge 01: It's very catchy! I also like your picture, its very beautiful, it has that statue that's makes your picture very patriotic.
Judge 02: It's a little cheesy to me, but that doesn't necessarily mean its bad. Lot's of commercials out there today are cheesy, so I think it works.
Judge 03: I do like the use of the statue, some symbolism there, I'm just not sure if that has to do anything with the sunspears. I read on guildwiki that those statues are of the Primeval Kings, but then again, there is that level of patriotism there. It might not be directly sunspears, but it is istan, and istan is what the sunspears protect.
Lokii Dia
We see your strength
Strength to command
Strength to lead
Strength in numbers
Against enemies
Against the elements
Against the odds
Through out history we have risen to the challenges that confronted us.
Under the Golden Sun we will rise again.
Order of the Sunspears
When darkness falls, where will you stand?
Judge 01: I think it was very smart that you took in some of the US Army's material, and kinda redo it into Guild Wars manner. I think your first picture was better, but of course, it was off the mark.
Judge 02: Firstly, I have to address your original submission, we want to make sure that we note it was not special treatment for us to let you redo the assignment. It was specifically our fault for being a little ambiguous when we said you could do "anything" for your picture portion, we assumed you understand anything within Istan with Istani armor, after all, we are in fashion destination mode just like last cycle when everything was luxon for three weeks. This cycle will only be two weeks istan since Miss Melly dropped, but you get the idea. Onto your picture, its great, I find it very dramatic, you did bring in a lot of inpiration from the US Army recruitment material, its very clever to make a play on that.
Judge 03: I think it's plagiarism to do that, you only switched around a few words and added in some things, if you did that in an english paper in college, they will consider that plagiarism. For this little competition, not so much, but please be wary of that just for future reference for real life stuff. Picture is dark, I know you we're trying to recapture that same mood in your original submission, but the lighting in this area isn't as good as it would be in the other one.

Wow, here I was looking forward to a few more weeks of this, but now all of a sudden it's the last round. A very disappointing assignment to end on.

To anyone who will read
To answer one of the judges, and probably some confused guru watchers. I didn't intend that it was favoritism brought upon me by giving a second chance. Yes, I was confused by the fact we still needed to be shooting in Istani. I do thank you for allowing me to know the true intentions of the assignment. I guess it was a little oopsie on both of our sides. I felt bad and stupid about the fact that I messed up, but I still intended on trying to get it on time, even though I was allowed another day. I didnt want to inconvience anyone by taking that whole day so we could start things on Friday. Which I guess I still caused a day delay. :/
As for the plagerism thing, I didn't intend on being an exact copy of an Army ad. Yes, I heard the "Army Strong" one once before, but never intended on copying it word for word. As you can see I used the Paragon attributes, command, leadership. Also play on words from the elemental aspect of GW, as well. I tried thinking of the Sunspear Lore more so in a military tone. I'm sorry if it looked like a complete copy of the advertisement, I didn't realize I did this :/
I know I'm not a fan favorite of this competition.I do get these suttle hints here and there, that I shouldn't be this far in the competition. I'm sure alot of people are possibly confused and upset that I might of taken their favorite's spot. Even some guild members admited that they was suprised I got this far.
I'm sorry to disappoint you guys. =P
I am here, but as cocky as that sounds, I believe I'm this far for a reason. I've worked as hard as the other ladies, and I fought to stay as much as the rest have. I believe I deserve a spot beside these two talented people. (Although I'm really confused about Noa's absense...something must of went wrong.) Do I deserve the top spot?
Well, we shall see. >D
Good luck ladies as we wait for the final scores. This so far has been a fun contest to participate in, but honestly it was it seemed alot more fun and carefree when I only read this thread for the assignments and critiques and disregarded all the comments. I do look forward to any more of these in the future, especially seeing the new crew of ladies that will appear in Cycle 3.
And...if it does come down to a monk battle.
Arala, I challenge you to a 1 v 1 monk smite battle!
Equip your smitting tools and your favorite battle armor and meet me in the hall. It is on!

EDIT. Sent, I hope it's accepted ;_;.
Lokii, yes we're having a super party at SoS hall, everyone's welcome \o/ (2pm GMT, ask Tidus, me or Nian for invites)

Feeling a bit disappointed at this too. Please don't get your panties in a knot just because you didn't yet know what happened tho. Would you really think Noa would just bail out of this? I can ofcourse vouch for Noa(being her roommie) that she did indeed take a lot of shots and was ready and prepared before the deadline. It's really kind of annoying that the forum decided to eat her PM. Shouldn't you at this point with only three contesants be sending some kind of confirmations that the submission was received to the contestants?
This time I really thought the shot Noa took was really strong and fit the assignment perfectly with it's dynamic pose and posterlike composition.
P.S. And while trying to get this message trough the forum decided to go 1v1 on me again. How convinient. Database error ftl, what's going on with the forum code? I don't think this is normal. -_-

Yup, I've been having forum errors a lot too. Guru is rather notorious for having problems, but for some reason it's been even worse than normal for me ever since Thursday. I hope Noa will get a fair chance to have her picture judged, since I'm sure she sent in the shot.
Great shots from the other two too. This round will be a difficult one to judge, I'm sure!

Noa sent in a shot for TMW, so there is no reason she didnt send in one for TNTM, apart from the problematic forum.
PLEASE PLEASE give her the chance.

I think this should have been a policy right from the beginning, since it's happened before. There's no need to confirm if it's been received, but knowing that the Forum is having issues I think if something isn't received there should definitely be a friendly reminder, or a question asked.

Alright guys, there should be no surprise that there will definitely be some delays! Hopefully results will be out later tonight, possibly tomorrow.
I edited the original evaluation post to add in Szei's material, but of course there's no comments since we haven't sat together on it yet.
So since we have the time...I think it would be a good time for you guys to evaluate your fellow contestants and see where you think they measure up, I will be sending Arala, Lokii, and Szei instructions on how that will be done in a bit, so hopefully this will kill some time while we wait.

Oh dear, is this really the last assignment? I'm glad that Szei's picture did get submitted, I think it's my favorite this round. However they're all great.... gaah, I still don't have a favorite.
Good luck to you all, I'll be waiting anxiously for results.
I'm sad that this round is over. But also sort of happy because I hope to find myself in the contestant's shoes next time.

Okay, my curiosity is just killing me now! I found that evaluation really hard, and I probably screwed it up, but at least it's done now
(I'm so glad your shot got figured out Noa, what a horrible thing to happen at this point of the competition ><)
