Personally I feel that Arala's has the best composition this week, yes the wings are unnecessary and subsequently distracting, but the setting, pose and cropping really works for me in establishing a mood of heroism while modelling her sunspear armour.

Closely followed by Lokii... as the judges cited the cropping it too wide and Koss' wings look too little for him, otherwise the shot has very nice composition although her pose and shield hides her armour a bit. Better cropping/location would have really made this shot a winner imo.

Judge 1 seems to have the right of things, judge 2 and judge 3 seem like they are on Miss Melly's pay roll.... honestly if she wins simply because she used Dunkoro... than this contest is a joke as that pose screams heroic about as much as a dead fish.

WOW Arala! That picture looks so awesome and heroic! What i am amazed the most about is your background choice its really beautiful and fitting.
You are getting so good at this really

GO GO GO!

Mmm and Szei .. yours is kinda interesting too it looks like the both of you are striking a very cliché like hero pose, wich is quite fitting ^_^

Arla's was great. I'm afraid I found Melly's a bit boring and generic.

I'm not sure I agree about all those comments about the wings not being heroic, since the ACTUAL paragon's seem to do fine with them. Just my opinion though.

Arala, wow, your image is amazing! Definitely heroes in action! The wings give a kind of ethereal feel to your character and brings her out more, otherwise Koss would be in danger of stealing the show. Your shot is my favourite this round.

Szei, yours is another solid submission I think. I like the lighthearted feeling of this image - after all, heroes need to relax sometimes too. They don't look any less heroic dancing than they do going off to save the world.

Lokii, just wow. Your shot is another great one. I have to agree that the cropping is a bit off (too wide - a closer crop would have worked better) but still, this really works to show off heroes.

Miss Melly, for some reason your image didn't really work for me. The posing is kind of bland, and there isn't a lot of energy in it despite the roaring emote. Sure, it was great of you to use Dunkoro, but somehow this picture just looks like it was done on a hurry. A rather safe image - nothing spectacular, but nothing to make it bad either.

Bierflesjes, the blue sparklies are distracting. I look at the picture behind them and see something that would actually look very nice and show off your hero skills, but the blue things just... overshadow everything. You have a wonderful picture behind them, too bad that the effects took away a lot from it.

Aah, can't wait for the final results! I think I can already see who are going to make it into top three. Good luck everyone!

Couldn't have said it better myself! I really don't understand what the judges don't like about those wings, they only add to it!

Szei, I like your shot best, it reminds me a LOT of how my friends and me play our heroes in Dungeons and Dragons!

To me it doesn't look like Szei and Koss are dancing but more like striking a pose.
If i didn't know what the emotes were and the game I would have never said it was /dance

Also on Arala's shot the wings might have not been necessary but i think they added that etheral feel just like Perynne pointed out wich looks kinda beautiful.. kinda liked it

also on Bierfs shot ... I really think the poses were actually good but the blue bubbles... there are a lil bit too many for me :/ still that still might have been ok .. the thing that bugs me the most is .. there are allot of blue sparkles near you and then none near Koss... it creates some kind of disharmony. But thats just my opinion ^^;;

Judge 03: It's the details that really throw me off, both of your swords are positioned in such a way like you're about to decapitate each other.

They are both in a narrow corridor, aralas in front and her sword is positioned in a way as if guarding the group, and Koss is behind and his sword position makes him look rdy for action. Im just curious as to where you think their swords should have been? Ignorance in these judges seems to be growing every week.

imo the sword positioning is perfect!!

Xo Xo
I couldn't agree more. I love this competition, it is so much fun to "watch". Yet, is there a different scale for everyone? I mean seriously, no offense to anyone, there is such a difference in comments.
Lokii, I love your shot, I think the wings only add, making it look more heroic
Arala, I feel the same about yours, i agree with the judges in that its very Indiana Jones
Szei, i loved you shot, i thought it was great, but looking at the judges comments, and considering you were up for elimination last week, uhoh
Bierflesjes, the poses were great but the blue sparkles were very distracting
Melly, I like how you used dunkoro, and how the paleness of your skin really made you stand out, but i thought it was very, very safe. Your both using identical poses, and theres not even an interesting camera angle. Your concept was great, but I dont know if the picture was...

I wanted to stick up for Szei's shot real quick. In my opinion, her shot looks like it could have been stamp on the cover of a comicbook about some new edgey superduo. Heroic is a little open-ended I suppose, but superheros fit the bill for me!
Arala's is a wonderful image as well. I don't think the wings detract so much, but I wonder if they weren't there would the image be any less for it? I don't think so. I really like the pose, Arala(and keep in mind, this is someone who uses his wings whenever possible so I simpathize with the addiction!).
Lokii's also struck me with the interaction between the two characters. For me, this read "teamwork in action" the most. I have the same question with Lokii's shot as I do with Arala's, but again, who am I to question paragon wings? Nice shots ladies.

I too will throw in a word for Szei's shot. Just because you know what emote she's using shouldn't count against her. Sure they are dancing, but at the point in which the picture was taken, it looks like Szei is getting ready to crouch and maybe lay a trap in anticipation of an enemy. And Koss looks like he's keeping an eye out on the horizon to make sure they aren't ambushed. I do think it is heroic indeed

Exclamation Week 03 MOTW/Elimination Results

Here are how the scores we're distributed this week:

Arala Starsong - 05, 04, 03 = 12
Bierflesjes Klauw - 02, 01, 01 = 04
Lokii Dia - 04, 03, 05 = 12
Miss Melly - 03, 05, 04 = 12
Szei Ren - 01, 02, 02 = 05

Which means Arala Starsong, Lokii Dia, and Miss Melly are all tied and are up for MOTW, and Bierflesjes Klauw and Szei Ren in bottom two.

Arala Starsong - You showed us heroes exploring ancient ruins, the picture was very climactic.

Lokii Dia - Your picture gave two heroes battling it out in a pinch, it was very thrilling.

Miss Melly - Though your picture wasn't as suspenseful as the other two, you we're right on with your direction of your shot.

It was a tough call, but we felt that the person who had the strongest showing is...

http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z...ive/08MOTW.jpg

Congratulations for winning MOTW, for winning, you may choose one of two special prizes...

1. An in game prize of 08 globs of ectoplasm

or

2. A contest prize of three additional points added to your score for the next assignment.

Please send to me your choice before June 20, 2007 or you forfeit your prize!

As for eliminations...

Bierflesjes Klauw - The animations we're too much, so much that they nearly take up as much space as your character. Your picture completely lost focus on the poor choice of details.

Szei Ren - We felt that you didn't give the same level of seriousness as the other contestants gave. Even reading your write up did not give us that insight we we're looking for in this assignment.

The person that will be leaving the competition today is...

http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z...limination.jpg

Congratulations to everyone passing to the next round and congratulations to our eliminee for making it this far into the competition!

whats funny is the second I read the assignment I knew I was going to be eliminated this week. GG. ohwell I never have to force myself to log onto my necro again

grats lokii, I'll be watching this until you're eliminated

Edit: oh yea I've been holding this in since the comments..
when you're commenting on someones picture you should tell them what you think of the whole picture yes I know Nilene cuts stuff out but don't cut it to the same exact comment from all 3 judges because that makes the point of having 3 judges is stupid.. and I don't think Melly should of gotten such a great score (no offense to you melly) because her picture was still it was good yeah but it was just still and boring like she/he put not much time into the picture at all, when I took a picture that was still and boring the judges all mentioned it and complained about it..so it seems just because she used Dunkoro instead she gets praised for it it makes me wonder if I put in Dunkoro and just stood there if I'd get motw, iunno but thats really annoying I just don't think someone should get a good score for a boring picture just because they put Dunkoro instead of Koss in it
As for Szei I thought her picture was good just like other people and I'm sure she wasn't thinking of a peace sign when she sent it in she was most likely thinking it was looking out for something it seems the judges don't have any imagination and automatically think its one thing and move on
And to Nilene for the next cycle I REALLY REALLY REAAAALLLYYY think you should give the contestants a chance to see the FULL comments- even send them to the contestants in a pm since you don't want to post the full thing here because if the full comments not saying anymore than what you post then I don't see how they are doing their job.

Exclamation Photoshoot Assignment 09: Sunspears Spokesmodel

The life of a Covergirl...
Can feel like a race.
Make up meltdowns?
Not on this face.
Only from Covergirl...
New Outlast make up.
Two steps now...
To all day wow.
One, the prep step smooths the pores...
Shine is gone.
Two, the make up stays fresh,
Stays flawless, stays on.
So while the rest of your day may go wrong...
Check out the new step, two step Outlast Make up
It's the first word in make up.
Only from...
Easy, Breezy, Beautiful
Covergirl

Alright final four, its time to get your creative juices flowing! For this week of competition, you will be asked to do an ad campaign for the Sunspears. Each of you must give a campaign slogan, like the one from the covergirl commercial seen above, and construct a picture to go with it! The idea of this assignment is to promote the sunspears in a recruitment type ad. So make a catchy jingle to go along with your picture; which should signify the Sunspears in some form (make it obvious, not interpretive).

This assignment is due on June 21, 2007 - a day earlier than the regular schedule.

There are no questions for this assignment, but if you have some, feel free to direct them to me!

Good luck guys, and have fun.
