WOW Mila! What a creative pose, and its so fitting with your month! And I must say, Beyoncee, your toon is absolutely gorgeous!! Lastly, Szei Ren's graphics card pawns all. Just like Jaden's last cycle!
Nice pictures ladies!! Good luck to everyone for elimination.
P.S For Miss November - Sihaya, Judge 2 said it was the /beckon emote, but I think it is the scratch emote??

I took this shot outside of imperial sanctum because it's lighting is very warm, bringing energy and excitement to the picture. The building in the background looks huge, as if it's full of people, ready to celebrate the New Year. The sky appears as though it's just turning dusk, ready for the parties to begin. The red overtones are also traditionally used in Chinese culture to symbolise luck, which fits perfectly with this Canthan New Year shot.
Judge 1: My biggest problem with this shot is exactly what you said. This is very Chinese new years, which is in February, not January. Other than that, I think this shot is a good shot, but it's more suited for February versus January.
Judge 2: I like the celebration, I like the aura this picture gives off, but again, the Chinese New Years is in February, and your assignment was to do January, I think if you moved to a different location, you would've lost that strong asian appeal that sways your picture more towards the Chinese' lunar calendar new years.
Judge 3: I agree with both judges completely, nice picture, but not January. The spark and fun factor of this picture is completely wasted, I just don't get that January feel in this picture.

Just want to stick up for Arala <3 (Very nice screenie, your monk looks the same as mine ) :
Depending on the Lunar calendar, Lunar New Year can be in either Jan or Feb.

I took my shot in the Iron Mines of Moladune. I picked it because I really liked the ice lake and it fits with the February theme. I wanted to show that even though February has Valentine's Day in it, for ones without love in their life it can be lonely and cold. That's why Beyoncee is standing to the left of the picture bundled in her coat and the only thing on the right is the Ice Lake and a ship.
Judge 1: This picture is so pretty! I just feel that there is so much more potential in this picture that could've been achieved. I know you wanted to convey a "lonely" Valentines, but I just feel that you could've just pushed the envelope and really sell this picture off if you incorporated a male model, and both of you in this picture could've almost create an illusion that you we're ice skating together. I personally done a picture that is similar to that aspect, so I know there could've been a really good picture produced had you done that, all in all, I think this is a good picture.
Judge 2: I think this picture is pretty good! As Judge 1 mentioned, this does somewhat resembles you ice skating, the picture is very glam. The story you we're trying to convey is maybe too unappealing to this type of an assignment. This is a calendar shoot after all, and you want to show and project happiness.
Judge 3: The frame looks way too wide, I think you should've cropped that boat out of the picture. The scene is very pretty and the armor choice is very suiting for winter, just work on cropping.
|
Oh honey, that is *such* an amazing picture! It's just... darling. I love it! I love how you're trying to work up the kind of winter poetry that characterizes Febuary *so well*!
I'm gonna have to go ahead and disagree with judge 2 here about the whole shot being too depressing thing. I think it's absolutely fantastic! The feeling of loneliness really brings out the kind of damsel-in-need atomsphere and makes you just wanna jump in there and rescue her!
That's what valentine's day is all about. It's about saving that special someone you care very much about from loneliness! I think Beyonce's shot is absolutely amazing for the month. I wish you the best of luck darling, *wink*!

Oooh, very nice screens! And most of you, don't worry, this is only the first assignment. There's plenty more chances to impress the judges if you are not eliminated.
I think my favourites were the shots by Lokii Dia, Szei Ren, Arala Starsong and Beyoncee Knowles. You girls really managed to find the spirit of your months, and incorporated it well. I love the vibrant colours in most of your shots, and the poses are refreshingly new.
Beyoncee, I agree with one of the judges that you left your shot a bit too wide. A shot like that works in some circumstances, but generally it's a good idea to be able to "see at a glance" rather than having your eyes rove back and forth between the two sides.
To the rest of you, while your shots were definitely ok, I think you were still trying to find your style. Take careful consideration when choosing a background... some of your backgrounds were rather bland and still. Don't let the background dominate the model. Remember to practice cropping your images. Sometimes it's good to have several different cropped versions of a shot to choose from, so you can see how the mood can change drastically from shot to shot.
Also, try to incorporate a bit more energy into the pictures - in some cases still poses work (like Mango's shot) but always remember that if you're doing a pose that is "safe" and has been used many times before, try to get a new look on it. Change angles, the timing, all kinds of small things.
Good job on the first assignment! And good luck to everyone!

Oh wow, girls o_O! Such great pictures, I find something unique and stunning in all of them.
I love it how Beyoncee's skin tone bring so much more life to her picture (I've taken similar shots with my über-white ele and they looked very bland). I also like the poetic aspects of that pic, I got the impression she's waiting for someone dear to arrive on that ship.
It's also great to see how everyone's armor colour matches so well with their backgrounds! I love it how Arala's white armor looks so pure and pretty against the darkening sky, Bierflesjes's brings more colour variety to her picture, and Geisha's fits that rainy theme just perfectly.
*waiting anxiously for the results*

Everyone's pictures are so great! I love all of those different colors, and I think Lokii Dia's is my favorite of all! (the way her armor blends with the grass and halfway the color of the flowers is just beautiful!)
About my picture, I was actually trying to make her lean on the wall.. I was thinking of putting either that or this one:http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v7...ahEcrop756.jpg Which was probably more obvious.. (still it's got a random npc in it >.<) Oh well, guess I'll see if it was good enough later.. Can't wait for the elimination so we finally have a little rest after all the anxiety ^^!

What Ember and Geishe said made me think a bit, so I went and tested some different graphics settings, and as far as I could tell it's not much of a difference how great the gfx card is.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...comparison.jpg
Done with some old nameless 128MB gfx card on an old, memory-lacking computer, and those 2 shots honestly don't look very different from the assignment pic I submitted before, which was taken with a much fresher system at maxed graphics settings.
I hope I'm not starting to sound pretentious xD, but I believe it's more important to find the right spot for a photoshoot than to worry about graphics.

You're absolutely right! Its more important to find the right location than anything. However, I'm just in awe how clean everything is in your pictures.
From the comparism pictures to your pictures you posted on the first page you can see the details just popping out at you in the latter group of pictures. The most obvious detail is the arm, its SO slender and clean, and smoooth, its just gorgeous! Not so much in your comparism pictures where the arm is pixellated (ever so slightly) and is fuzzy.
I love your pictures, thats all, please post more!

Week 01 MOTW/Elimination Results
Here are the scores that we're given by each judge:
Arala Starsong: 07, 11, 06 = 24
Beyoncee Knowlez: 12, 07, 09 = 28
Bierflesjes Klaus: 04, 06, 02 = 12
Geisha Nugra: 02, 01, 03 = 06
Lokii Dia: 09, 10, 12 = 31
Lunamaria Cruz: 03, 05, 01 = 09
Mila Fox: 11, 12, 11 = 34
Miss Melly: 10, 04, 05 = 19
Mojave Mango Juice: 06, 08, 07 = 21
Sarah Eleanore: 05, 03, 08 = 16
Sihaya Syme: 01, 02, 04 = 07
Szei Ren: 08, 09, 10 = 27
Which means Mila Fox and Lokii Dia are the two highest and are up for Model Of The Week (MOTW), and Geisha Nugra and Sihaya Syme with the lowest scores putting them both up for elimination.
Mila Fox, we thought you're picture was absolutely gorgeous, your pose emphasizes your model's slender body and long limbs, absolute perfection for any model shot. On top of that, the scenery was breathtaking, yet you managed to shine through.
Lokii Dia, we thought your shot had everything to represent the perfect Spring time. The color palate used was perfect.
After much discussion, the first winner of MOTW for week 1 is...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...ess/01MOTW.jpg
Congratulations to our winner! For winning MOTW, you may choose one of two special prizes...
1. An in game prize of 1 Globs Of Ectoplasm.
or
2. Three points added to the score of your next photoshoot assignment.
Please get with me with the choice of your liking as soon as possible through the method you have choosen to keep in contact with the competition!
Now for eliminations...
Geisha Nugra, I truly appreciate that you wanted to go for a rainy month look, we all do. However, we felt that your shot was poorly executed, from bad cropping, to horrible background. We all know that there are other places where you could've executed a rainy shot, and this was just the wrong choice.
Sihaya Syme, this picture is so unoriginal, so uninspiring. There is nothing special about this picture, the pose was boring and safe, the background was very bland.
So who gets eliminated? Someone who had a good idea but failed at showing their month completely, or someone who took a little too safe and got the message through but produced such a generic picture?
The decision was difficult, and I have no doubt that either you can improve, but for one of you, the competition ends now.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...mination-1.jpg
Unfortunately, your time is up. Thank you for participating in the competition and congratulations for making it this far! You should be very proud of yourself!
For the rest of you, your next assignment will be sent shortly!
