A small screenie of all mesmer sillyness
I'd not played much today, so was getting a little stirr crazy so decided to grab 2 guildies and throw together a build for FoW(prep time was 2 mins).
We decided to try and use as many mesmer skills as we could.
No PvE skills
No consumables
Max of 3 humans.
The only secondary profession skill allowed was hard res
Could only use mesmer self heals. i.e No non attack self heals(so Illu of weakness was out)
So basically the only protection the party had was to deny the effects of the enemy while inflicting enough damage to kill them.
Tbh the weakest part of our "throw it in and see build" were the heroes, bascially we had to play 3 roles at the same time as the heroes decided to take the day off. It was'nt that hard, but just annoying.
Anyway we managed, rastigan all the way to completing the restore quest, which was pretty fun as mesmer condition removal is weak
A more synagised and more people in the build would allow completion pretty easily. As I said, nothing staggeringly hard this time around, and the concept of using kiting, shutdown and pressure mitigation is'nt new. But it did make a really nice change of pace from AoE smash bang of recent times.

I don't get that much impressed into seeing mesmers doing anything; I've always known that they were very good both at pve and pvp :P

If you want to recruit some more live mesmers I am ready and willing. The FOW scroll is on me :P
I haven't used my mesmer in quite some time and would love to try that out.

Just an update..
This week we took a team of 6 people to FoW, using only mesmer skills, no PvE skills, no consumables and the only non mesmer skill we could take was a hard res.
Sometimes the all mesmer runs have been critised for just running FC monks, or ele's. In this team there was none of that, only the native protection the mesmer can bring.
This week, we cleared all quests in FoW using the above rules. It took a while, half of the quests were done with 5 people and 2XGwens (who usually had over 30%DP).
It was fantastic to see just how effective shutdown, interupts and denial is in PvE and how much pressure it can take away from the team. People claim the mesmer is not effective in PvE, I maintain it is effective(it might not be the fastest, easiest to play or 'optimal) and hopefully this goes some of the way to demonstrating that the mesmer still has a place in GW PvE.
Some of the areas were pretty tough, esp with no condition removal, very limited hex removal(the one who disconnected was our main hex remover), and no prot, heal or skills from other professions.
It was a great run, and a huge credit to the team for indulging me and surprising me in getting past areas we really should not have been able to.
However as you see we did, and I know it was the most fun FoW clear i've done in ages.

Amazing work Shan! Mesmers FTW!
You make me want to play on my mesmer (whom hasn't seen much done lately).
It's true, it's amazing how much pressure mesmers can put on the enemy in prevention of actions and attacking - not to mention the AI isn't smart enough to comprehend it!

IDK why people assume mesmers are so bad. I actually have a Mesmer build that inturupts + does more damage than my SF build..

They can... the problem is, virtually anything a primary mesmer can do, there is another profession/profession/title combination that can do it better.
Still... this looks like it would be a lot of fun...

What he means is... what the mesmers ran where just subpar versions of what other professions can do. For example FC nukers are alright, but ele nukers are better. A profession is usually meant to stick to most of it's skills and venture to their secondary profession for use of 2-3 skills. If you're primarily using your secondary skills you're only playing a subpar build. That said, it's possible to clear out FoW/UW etc with an all mesmer team, all ele team, all derv team, all paragon team, etc. You're just losing out on efficiency if you do so.
