A boy, barley meeting the army's age requirment, which had dropped lower after the Searing was walking around Ascalon. he looked poor, hungery, and most of all, desperate. He was about willing to do anything for a couple coins, except enlist. He was a farmboy, carrying a bow and straggling behind was his dog Fluffy. Being alone on the streets on post-Searing Ascalon was a tough job, especially for one young as this.
He walked over to a merchant, obviously doing well, and examined the bows.
There were bows from all over Tyria from Kryta to Deldrimmor. More importantly he need arrows. he looked at the different kinds. Tommorow is garbage day he thought, probly will be selling them for a lot less tommorow. Might be able to buy half a quiver of the worst arrows.
But alas the smell of the cook overtook him as he gawed at the meats smoking in the store. He stood outside the shop for hours til the cook came out and said:
"Off with ye maggot! Take this and run along." The cook tossed him a hunk of meat and satisfied the boy ran along, eating and looking for any sort of work.

(OOC im using one of my charachters from another thread, be nice to explore his history)
Captain Brelade was annoyed, he'd just lost 500 gold on a bet in the arena and when Captain Brelade is annoyed its best to stay out of his way. He was an experienced warrior and coupled with his knowledge of the wild made him a ferocious fighter. Therefore being stuck in command of guarding royalty was not to his liking. They annoyed him and that woman was getting on his nerves, do this do that, im a soldier not a servant.
Walking through the streets of Ascalon he saw a soldier up ahead with a dog, just as he was about to give him a good beating for not being at his post, he noticed he wasn't a man but a boy. The need for fresh men had obviously reached a new low. He was amused to see the boy attempt a salute, 'Come with me soldier, its getting dark and it would be wise to find shelter. There are some unpleasant people in this city, thieves and murderers, lets go get something to eat and drink. I know a nice inn up ahead.'
As they walked towards the inn, the sun was setting and the light began to diminish, the old streets were dark and mostly unoccupied apart from a few stragglers and merchants making their way home. The inn gave a welcoming light out into the street. Hmmm tommorow i'll find that damn thief Carth, he's been giving the merchants hassle and my brother had just had some items stolen which means i will have to track him down and get those items back but for now its time to have an ale or three and get some sleep.

Fendrel((OOC my characters name)) followed the strange man. Obviously he had thought he was in the army. What if he forces me in the army? He thought about this and decided it was benificial to his survival he would enlist.
He was an archer anyways, were they not just supposed to sit behind walls and fire arrows deep into Charr ranks? He thought of the benifits:
-food
-shelter(most of the time anyways)
-nice equipment
-respect from others
He also thought of the bad things that could go south for him
-death
-imprisonment
He thought about this and decided to if asked, join the army under the condition he not be put on the front lines.
Tired and weary he beckoned his dog to follow the man he was walking behind.
