The Ship Cromwell - Poetry
Oh, I've been far and wide..
I've sailed the globe over..
I've been thrice shanghaied,
I've been twice the world under
But I miss that face,
I miss that smile
Of the old barmaid,
The young nubile
I've seen lands aplenty,
The oceans too many
I've been through the fire,
of many an empire
But my wish dear,
my wish to you now,
is to take it all back,
to make it right somehow
I've seen the lands aplenty,
The oceans too many
I've been through the fire,
of many an empire
But my wish dear,
my wish to you now
is to love you again,
if only you'd allow
A traveller to sit
and regale you of the stories,
of the things that exist,
From the sea to the boundaries.
The middle of my days pass
The crows nest tolls the bell
Upon a ship that noone can outclass
On the ship called, "The Cromwell"
Oh, I've been far and wide..
I've sailed the globe over..
I've been thrice shanghaied,
I've been twice the world under
But I miss that face,
I miss that smile
Of the old barmaid,
The young nubile
I've seen lands aplenty,
The oceans too many
I've been through the fire,
of many an empire
My tale comes to an end at the last of my days
At last I can rest, I can finally laze
At the toll of the church bell, you'll be able to tell
This was a sailor of the ship, "Cromwell"
