Guild Wars Panoramas
Update 12/31: Happy Wintersday! I'll be posting the Wintersday 2005 panoramas over the next week or so. Enjoy.
----------
Posting these here instead of Screenshot Exposition because, what with the amount of work I'm putting into these, I think it's beginning to feel like art rather than merely capturing screens.
All panoramas will be 6170x950 pixels. That was the size of my first one and the largest I can make them without requiring too much post-processing in GIMP. File sizes will vary, but they should fall in the 1-1.2 MB range. Those with slow connections, consider yourself warned.
Panoramas are listed in the order in which I created them. As the list grows, I'll probably alphabetize them or something.
Panoramas:
01 Ascalon City (Post-Searing) rev1
02 Ascalon City (Pre-Searing) rev0
Wintersday 2005:
01 Ascalon City rev1
02 Lion's Arch
03 Droknar's Forge rev0
04 Tomb of the Primeval Kings
I've learned a few things on my second pano, so I'll be revising the first one before starting another (done). And I have to get back to my RSS project. Also, I may actually want to play Guild Wars one of these days instead of running around in-game on photo shoots. And then there's Real LifeĀ®. What I'm getting at is...I'll try to get a new one up at least every other week (shooting for weekly). Just don't expect updates too often. Enjoy.

Thanks for the kind words, all. That pre-searing one was quite a pain. I've had to start over with a new char since I didn't have any left in pre-sear...I knew I should have left that lvl8 monk there... Anyway, more pre-sear panos will have to wait as I open up all the areas again.
I'm still laughing about that elementalist I caught in post-sear doing his 'little kicks'. Heh heh.
Next time I take screenshots for a pano, I may attempt to ID the characters in the shot. I'll at least note the district and time so maybe some of you can ID yourself. No guarantees, though...you guys move around way too much.

I can see how you did everything else... but the sky moves in the game, how did it stay still for all of your pictures? Unless you took like 50 pictures all at once, before the sky could move.

Nice work. Too bad my crappy monitor is too small to take it all in. Would be nice to get it done at a printer and have your own custom poster.

Simply awesome.
One thing though: why didn't you do the Post-Searing panorama from the same point as the Pre-Searing one? It's easy enough to find and clear, being just outside the gates of "Old" Ascalon.

Great work Eugaet. I always loved Panos
There are a few spots in the game which I think are great for full Panos.
One of which is in ToA... with the Gods (and hopefully their avatars) 'active'.
Keep up to good work.. hope to see more of it here!

I take the pictures with the rotation of the sky (which has been clockwise, so far as I've been paying attention) and do so quickly so as to minimize the effects of its movement. Then I just hope it blends well.

Yeah, I thought about that after doing the pre-sear one (I did the post-sear first). I usually end up spending a fair amount of time trying to find the best spot to do a pano from within a town or area...I'd have to go outside Post-Sear Ascalon to get that same viewpoint, correct? I'll check it out next time I'm in.

Yeah, haven't started that yet, what with other responsibilities, plus the holiday, hitting recently. I may log in for a photo shoot tonight, though.

OK, so I've been busy with other things lately (mainly, I started playing again). But with the recent updates to certain locations in Tyria, I think some Wintersday panoramas are in order. So far, the locations I'm aware of that I need to hit are Ascalon City (post-Searing only, I'm assuming), Lion's Arch, and Droknar's Forge. Any others? Hopefully, I'll have the Ascalon City Wintersday one done within the next few days.
