Vanatiel awoke to darkness.

His first thoughts were that he was trapped....

Alone...

In an endless void of darkness...

Then, he heard the voice....

A beautiful, clear, silky voice...singing...singing....

Without a sound, Vanatiel pushed himself off of his cot, and stood up.

Shirtless, Vanatiel silently reached for his tormentors armour, which was currently dyed black....

Black...what a beautiful color of darkness...He though to himself.

After he had fit himself into his tormentors armour, Vanatiel followed the singing voice outside of the ONYX house.

There sat the ONYX sister, Daishi...

With her back turned to him, she continued to sing, not noticing him.

She sat, with legs outstretched, on the grass, next to an apple tree. Vanatiel was looking a Daishi so intently that he didn't notice what she was saying, until she turned her head and looked at him.

She was certainly a pretty necromancer.

Vanatiel noticed that pretty easily.

She stared at him, but continued to sing.

"And far away...
Shall you fly...
Over mountains...
Following the endless blue sky...

My heart you shall forever have...
As you leave me...
Forever leave me...
Never to come home..."

Vanatiel returned the stare, until she turned her head back to it's original position.

Grinning, Vanatiel walked to Daishi's left, and sat down.

It was only then that Vanatiel noticed the beautiful white moon, shining in the star-filled sky. It was so beautiful...

Vanatiel let himself fall backwards into the back, and move into a comfortable position.

Staring at the sky...Vanatiel continued to listen to Daishi's song

"Though many moons will seperate us...
Though many miles will forever haunt us...
Though you may never return to me...
I will forever wait...Forever wait...

My heart you shall forever have...
As you leave me...
Forever leave me...
Never to come home..."

Vanatiel joined in, whispering....

"Hold your peace...
If you die without me...
I'll be by your side...
I will always be..."

Never to come home..."

Daishi, surprised that the complete stranger, who no one except Alicia knew much about, could sing the song of sorrow.

It was a rare knowledge, to possess the song.

She paused for a second when Vanatiel started to whisper with her singing, but she continued, surprised and awed at the mysterious stranger.

"And will you come home?...
Will you come back to me?
Or shall we never see each other again...
And live in our misery?

But...maybe, I will see you again...
And my sorrow shall leave me...
I will wait for you....Under the shining white moon...
Tomorrow...and forever..."

Vanatiel grinned...and continued to stare at the shining white moon in the heavens....

It was just so beautiful....

So beautiful....

"My heart you shall forever have...

Silence...

Vanatiel and Daishi lay in the grass, speechlessly staring up at the moon. The green grass, swayed in the midnight wind, and tickled their faces. The apple tree, danced in the wind, playfully swinging from side to side, whispering words that only rangers could understand...

Vanatiel turned his gaze away from the moon, and looked at Daishi, who lay beside him.

Her face shined pale with the moons light, playing upon it.

She had a fine face, looking more like a noble than a necromancer.

Vanatiel absentmindedly stared at her.

"The moon is beautiful tonight, is it not?" she whispered.

Vanatiel broke from his trance, and was slammed back into the cold floor of reality.

Looking back at the moon, he said "Sure is..."

She suddenly pushed herself up, and rolled over, so that her stomach was now touching the ground.

She looked at him, and diagonally moved her head to the side.

"Your a curious necromancer...you know."

Vanatiel grinned.

"Yeah, I've been told that before."

"Well...you are. First, you come here showing up with Alicia, then the next thing I know, your all over her neck."

Vanatiel jerked in surprise.

"You...You know about that?"

"Sure I do....I saw you guys. But I mean...you guys were out in the open...get a room!"

Vanatiel sighed in relief, but couldn't help but laugh at Daishi's thoughts.

He was happy she didn't know that what really happened was that he had bitten Alicia on her neck, because of his overwhelming lust.

*BLOODlust that is, people!*

When Vanatiel didn't reply, Daishi continued.

"So...do you like our sister?"

"Huh?"

"Do you like our sister, Alicia?" she repeated.

Vanatiel didn't know how to reply.

"I don't know..."

Daishi wasn't satisfied. "I need an answer."

"Well...She means a lot to me... She's my friend and companion...among other things." he said.

"What are those things?"

God this woman is pushy, Vanatiel thought to himself.

"Emotionally and spiritually linked, I guess."

Daishi smiled, and lay down again.

"You better go see to her...the bite mark you gave to her is still recovering...she's suffering from shock and her emotions."

Vanatiel wasn't surprised.

"Heh...you knew all along didn't you?"

Vanatiel stood up, and walked up to the door.

"Your not the only one Vanatiel...your not the only one..." came the voice, as he walked into the dark house, and layed down on the cold floor, next to Alicia.

Well, I'll try to put Plat back into the story for a while, just to help promote progress in the storyline. If you want me to stop, just say so. Well, here goes.

"Agggh." The sound rang throughout the cavern. "That hurt. Where am I?" A heavily mauled person stood up in the middle of a circular region of the cavern. The person's name was Plat. "The Ice Caves of Sorrow...I'm getting out of here. But first, how long have I been like this?" "About a month," said a voice. Plat stiffened. "A-a month? Hell...so, who are you?" asked Plat. "My name is Balthazar, I expected that you would forget my voice after being unconscious for a while," said the voice. Plat saw that he was standing right next to a statue of Balthazar. Since when has this been here, thought Plat. "So...can I leave here now?" asked Plat. Balthazar replied, "I don't know, its your choice. I would appreciate the company though..." "No way!" shouted Plat as he ran for the exit.

10 days later...

"Ahh, Lion's Arch. Good thing I found my map so I could warp back here...how do those maps work anyways?" Plat walked through the market area. He looked much better than he had in the cavern. His attire was his usual leisure/battle look: Plain travelers clothes, a Long Sword slung over his back, a bag of gold at his side, and a large sack hanging from his back. "Selling black dye for 10k!" "Warrior looking for a group to fight monsters!" Plat heard many things being shouted out in the town. But he focused on his one destination: The ONYX Sisterhood House. Plat began to see it as he approached. "Should I...?" Plat was thinking hard if it was worth going there. Yes, he thought, I must speak with Daishi. I must learn more about Grenth before I head out into his sacred lands...

Plat knocked on the door of the ONYX Sisterhood House. The door slowly creaked open...then Plat saw Daishi peering out the door. "By Grenth's name, you're alive!" she exclaimed. "Its been a long time, Dai," Plat said. "Listen, I need to ask you a question...but first, do you think I could stay here for a while?" Daishi replied, "Sure...listen, we have found another Sister! Her name is Alicia Stormcrow, and her friend is named Vanatiel!" Plat thought to himself, 'Licia? And Vantie? They're here? Hmm...I can sense their energy...I knew I shouldn't have ventured into the Underworld before talking to Daishi...Plat said, "I know Alicia and Vantie. May I come in?" Daishi replied, "Yes, yes, I presume that you're weary from your travels..."

10 minutes later...

"Ahh, so that's what's happened...I see that young Mali is here as well...I guess I'm glad to know that you two are safe...Now, I must ask Daishi something, so if you'll excuse me..." Plat got up from the floor and walked torwards where Daishi was sitting. "Daishi." "Yes, Plat?" "I would like to ask you something," Plat said. Daishi replied, "Alright, go for it." Plat said, "Very well then...this may be a simple question to answer. I must learn of Grenth's sacred territory, the Underworld. The last time I was there I acquired the power of a Necromancer to add to my Warrior/Monk build....Can you tell me about the secrets of that place? I don't want to risk being affected in some negative way...The powers of a Necromancer, though, are quite intruiging...Anyways, can you answer?" Silence followed. After about fifteen minutes, Daishi spoke. "Come with me to meet Grenth, and you will learn of the many secrets hidden in his land." Daishi took Plat to a magic circle...except it wasn't a circle. It was in the shape of a pentagon. Daishi told Plat to stand in the center of it and began chanting magical verses. Then she grasped Plat's hand, and shortly thereafter he began to feel a darkness, a powerful one...he felt a sense of nothingness, the only things present being he and Daishi. Then, a faint grey light began to appear, and Plat could feel his necrotic senses tingling...he knew that Grenth was appearing to him...

Although she may have attractive sisters, Alicia is Vanatiel's only *shining object*

I guess you can call Vanatiel somewhat of a Raccoon...who's always attracted to shiny things in his dark world...and when he does find those shiny things, he likes to keep them close for as long as he can.
