Well i can't do anything about the characters and the game itself, only what i put in it myself =P
And yeah, the tex for the shield blurs really badly at certain angles. I think its something to do with normalmaps being over a certain size and not liking to mipmap properly, or somesuch. I've never read into it but i've seen it mentioned a lot on TES forums. I would have modelled the tears and such but i'm real strict with my polys =)
