The Tale of the Reaver
Well, I promised everyone I'd make a story about the Reaver, so here it is! Please read the "Hidden Faces and Barren Places" Roleplay first before reading this, or else you may become confused. No, this isn't open for expansion. Yes, comments are appreciated. Just don't do massive flaming. There's always a respectful way to do things, I learned that in my first month in this forum. So, let the story begin!
First of all, here's the character profile:
Name: Shadow Faelrhine
Nickname: Shadow
Profession: W/N
Age: 36
Birthdate: May 5
Height: 5'7"
Weight: 106 lbs.
Eye Color: Black
Skin Color: Light Brown
Weapons: Greatsword and Greataxe, dual-wielded
Armor: Ascalon Armor
Traits: Light-hearted, brave, strong, and social
Background: Has been an Ascalonian captain since before the Searing. Being one of the only ones to survive a hit by a crystal bomb when the Searing occurred, he is a legend in all of Tyria.
-----
Shadow awoke in his camp near the Dark Forest. He was assigned to find and eliminate a great evil coming from that very forest. He readied his old yet still powerful axe and sword. He then began his fateful venture into the forest. In the forest he occasionally ran into the undead creature or the embodiment of darkness, but he killed them all. But the true story began many years ago, when he was first tainted with darkness...
-----
Shadow was only 29 at the time. His latest mission was to kill a necromancer causing great destruction to Kryta and the Shiverpeak Mountains. The necromancer's location was found to be around the Maguuma Jungle. Shadow had just entered the jungle when he felt a slight chill.
"Hmm...This necromancer is powerful. It's been a long time since I've faced something this powerful."
Shadow walked deeper into the forest. Upon his arrival into a swamp, he saw many undead creatures gathered around a stone monument. Some of the undead noticed him, and soon all of them were charging towards Shadow. He drew his sword and axe and charged at the opposing force, preparing to fight a long battle. When the two sides met, three undead were sliced apart by Shadow's spinning charge, and a few others lost a bony limb or two. He quickly chopped those apart, then continued on with the rest of the undead. He dodged each of their attacks by a hair, and countered successfully. Soon only a few undead remained: two executioners and an undead necromancer. Shadow moved swiftly, nimbly dodging one of the executioner's swipes and crumbling the other. He then whirled around the back of the first executioner until he was right in front of it's chest, and thrust in his sword. He then dodge-rolled to the side as the undead necromancer sent a burst of dark energy at him. Shadow threw his axe and prayed to Balthazar that it would hit. It did, cleanly slicing off the necromancer's head. Retrieving his axe, Shadow continued through the forest in search of the necromancer that had summoned these creatures, for the undead necromancer he had just faced must have come from somewhere.
Shadow fought stray bands of undead as he wandered through the jungle. Eventually, he made it to the Bloodstone Fen, and saw a man cloacked in black standing with his back turned. The man spoke, "Hello, my guest. Welcome to my home. I am Halidor, Necromancer of the Hellfury."
"Halidor, are you the one creating these undead?" Shadow asked.
Halidor: "Of course."
Shadow: "Then you are the one I must slaughter."
Halidor: "Get through my hellhound and maybe I'll let you fight me..." Upon these words he summoned a fiery hellhound from a dark portal behind him. "I must be going now, but here is a small gift for you." A small, black dart hit Shadow in the heart. He quickly pulled it out and saw that the would caused by it quickly healed. But he then began to feel a great pain and buckled over, trying to control it. The hellhound took this weakness to it's advantage and leaped towards Shadow, hoping to eat it in one bite. But Shadow regained control of himself, and sliced it open with his axe. It suddenly disappeared as the axe went through it, but Shadow knew it was only being called back to it's master. But he couldn't try to chase Halidor now, for he passed out from pain right there.
-----
Shadow knew what the great darkness coming from the Dark Forest was. He recognized the chill that Halidor gives off, and his heart felt slightly more painful with every step he took. He knew he was afflicted by pure darkness, but he would have to use it to defeat Halidor. Shadow walked on, and soon came near the very center of the forest.
He only had to take a path for another day to reach the center of the forest. Having been in there for almost a week, Shadow was slightly relieved that he would soon be out. But he would never leave that forest. When he was an hour's walk from the center of the forest, he came across a hellhound. The same hellhound he had fought seven years ago. He was stronger now, however, and immediately charged towards the hellhound. The hellhound simply sent out a great blast of fire, but Shadow barely dodged it and killed the hellhound. As it's flames died away, Shadow thought, 'Too easy...He's letting me win. He wants to fight.' Soon he would realize that he was right.
-----
Shadow reached the center of the forest, and he saw a figure cloaked in red standing before him.
Shadow: "Halidor."
Halidor: "I know you know that I let you come here. I no longer wish for my army to conquer the world...No, I have a better plan. But let us fight, and we shall see the outcome."
Halidor raised his hands high up into the air, and suddenly the sky grew dark. A bolt of lightning then hit Halidor's hands and made them dark and burnt. Shadow sensed that this was part of something big, and so he drew his sword and axe and began to bring out the darkness within him. But too late did he learn that this was what Halidor was planning.
Halidor send a bolt of dark energy at Shadow. Shadow dodged, and began his charge towards Halidor. Halidor continued sending wave after wave of pure evil energy at Shadow, but he pressed on, using his inner darkness to power him on. Soon he reached Halidor and slashed both of his weapons at him. But they just passed through his body, and Halidor quickly thrust his hands onto Shadow's chest. Shadow felt a great burning in his body, and felt the darkness within him building, engulfing his heart. He fell back, and as he stood up, Halidor sent a great bolt of dark energy at him, infusing him with boundless energy.
Halidor: "HAHAHAHA! I have the power of Grenth in my blood! I am the student of one of his mortal descendants! I shall control you, make you a monster of terrifying power, and plunge the world into darkness!"
Shadow: "I have a shield against you! My own inner darkness!" But this only gave more pain to Shadow.
Halidor laughed. "That inner darkness of yours came from me. I planned to exploit it and use it for my own! HAHAHAHAHA!!!"
Halidor laughed as Shadow was continuously shocked by dark energies. Shadow's whole figure began to change. His body was soon made of nothing but darkness, he had grown significantly larger, his weapons were infused with darkness and made larger, and he grew two piercing tentacles on his side. Soon all that was left was his heart and his sanity. But this was soon tainted by darkness as well, and after that nothing was left of Shadow.
Halidor named this demon "The Reaver". He used this monster to haunt the Dark Forest and kill everyone who tried to enter it. It has not been defeated since.

No, this is not supposed to be a good story. I can only do that when there are other influences to the story, like in an open roleplay. This is just for those participating in or reading the "Hidden Faces and Barren Places" Roleplay to understand the history of the Reaver. To put it in one sentence, the Reaver was the demon created by the result of the pure evil necromancer Halidor infusing a legendary warrior named Shadow Faelrhine with infinite dark energy. There you go, the whole story without the crappy parts.
P.S. The Searing occurred when Shadow was 32.
