ehh, I think Hurlant is gonna steal it from me, feels like i set myself up as the "bad guy" to beat since i kinda came out with something shiny early on, and what fun is a contest if there isn't an upset?
I appreciate the vote of confidence though, and either way i still got a cool picture out of it

Whether a piece was submitted early has no bairing on my judgement. Mainly because I didn't give any art a second glance till the submission date was past. This was I couldn't form any opinions until all the cards were laid out.
_______________________________________________
I'm sure that yesterday the mention of my final criteria has made people wondered what it could be. I've judged these pieces by their detail, their colour, the effort and how well they have portrayed the god the art is made after. Each piece is equal in its own rights with its own strength and weaknesses.
But my final criteria is the most important. Each piece so far has had its own charm. But to me true art must be able to imbue emotion within the person that looks upon it. The one which has invoked the greatest emotionally will be the winner of this contest.

^^, what nith tried to say was that if he has the leading piece, other people can see how good they have to do to be better. So they know how much time they have to spend on it to be good enough. Well thats what I thought he tried to say..

Let's just say I'll be interested to hear the reasoning behind BeXoR's position at the top. Don't get me wrong, the picture is ok, but it wouldnt have even been in my top 5, let alone taking the prize :S I honestly can't see how that image was even equal to Nith or Hurlant's in terms of "detail, colour, effort and portrayel of the god" (to paraphrase NinjaKai's criteria). As for it invoking "great emotion" (again with the paraphrasing ) I think there were other images that did that better as well. Both Nith, Metal Hurlant did good jobs there, but I thought Raven Song and The Thing both had evocative images too.
Of course, as they always say, the judge's decision is final and all that, and the choice has been made. But in my eyes, the prize went to the wrong person :S

I agree, dont mean to be an asshole.... but wow niths detail and the time it looks like he took to do that... wow
and no offense but the winners was kinda plain... looks like you could have just made it the day b4
I'm sure you have your reasons for choosing them as you do, but as far as originallity is wow for nith but thats just another smurf dwayna.
