Don't worry about the ban thing. Brother got into my account and did some things that broke the rules. Ban will be lifted by next week. So nothing to worry about.

I'd suggest making the deadline a bit sooner, since it would save a lot of bumping of this thread (and thereby being more friendly in the eyes of the admins). That is, if the contest is still on despite the ban?
Also, drawing something doesn't really take over a month to complete - most people just put it off until the last possible date, and then complain that they "didn't have enough time". An easy way to forget a competition is to have the deadline too far away.

I guess it's too late. You can change the deadline once it's decided. You can choose a deadline later, but absolutely not earlier.
Hmm... what I found great was the deadline too far away. I did not start this contest because I got others to do before. And I'm very pleased to see this one not at the same time than the others.

You have a point. There are tons of art contests around Christmas. Now I'm just worried about NinjaKai's ban, I hope it really gets lifted by next week.
I haven't started my drawing yet either, but I know I'd have it ready already if the deadline had been sooner. Later deadline means there's more time to get lazy.....

If it's made any sooner I won't get mine finished in time. The end of the year is a very busy time. And as an artist, I can say that drawings do not always take under a month to do. Not everyone is a procrastinator...

I'm sorry if I sounded too judging. As an illustrator/graphic designer myself, I understand that some works take a long time to do, sometimes even over a month. People are busy especially during the holiday season.
My point was that for a forum-type competition it'd be more participant-friendly to have either a very active competition with weekly contest-based comments (like the Tyrian Model contest over in Screenshots) or a competition with a shorter timeframe so that it doesn't get lost amongst all the other forum topics. Both of those methods would keep people's attention on the contest (and their own entries), rather than burying it under all the other topics around.
Still, I love the idea for this contest, and I now I see that it'd be a disaster to have the deadline sooner. Sorry to have bothered you, and looking forward to seeing more wonderful entries.

A weekly contest would be fun, but I don't think Kai has many prizes to go around. :P
I look forward to seeing your entry. ^_^

@Opal: Thanks Opal for the small favor. Your a star in my books.
@BeXoR: While I would like to offer more. But i'd say the prize itself which is pretty big warrants me not needing to offer more.
@f0x: Your right is was nothing more than a small posting violation.

Oh, I wasn't complaining about the prize, I think it's huge! I was just responding to the suggestion of regularly weekly contests. It would be too much for just one person to do, I would think. I know I wouldn't know what to give out, or even have anything good enough if it were done on a regular basis.

That's the thing with setting the dealing so late, I'm sitting here safe in the knowledge that I can have my image done in a week or two, thus I've been working on other commissions, as I see no point starting work untill closer to the deadline I imagine other people are feeling the same. Rest assured though, I will be putting forward an entry ^^

I plan on submitting this one once I colour it. My own not-quite-as-skeleton-like version of Grenth. X3 I'm excited.
And that fruit-like thing he's holding is supposed to be a heart, but I got lazy and will make it pretty(?) when I colour it.

It reminds me of the concept art from Final Fantasy IX.
