Griel jumped from a sudden voice coming from the ranger nearby. He wasn’t used to being talked to, especially from strangers. “Excuse me I couldn’t hear over the crowd. What did the guard say?” Griel stuttered for a moment, then blurted out a response.
“He j-just said some nonsense about rounding up some kind of fugitive. You know that King…erm…Adelbern. Right, Adelbern. Always attempting to catch the lawless. Good. Yes, g-good for him.” Another disaster of a reply like that would have the entire place suspicious of him. He needed an alibi. Also, this ranger could make a valuable companion. Griel never saw his traveling companions as friends, only as allies. In his line of work, you never know who’s truly on your side.
“I’m sorry, sir. I’m just shaken up because…because I think I may have seen this man before.” Now, it was time to cover his tracks.
“About a day ago, in Grendich Courthouse, a suspicious-looking man bumped into me. I kept my eye on him, and in the next few minutes, he had stabbed one of the travelers, stole his gold, and ran off! Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to get a good look at him. The guards were everywhere, but they weren’t able to catch him either. If I’m right, this is the same killer.”
The story was complete Yak droppings. There was no suspicious-looking man, and he would never stoop to the level of murdering innocents. All of his assignments had always done something big to upset his contractor, giving him a valid excuse to take their life. Now that his tracks were covered, it was time to ask this man for a favor…
“If you don’t mind me asking, sir, I was wondering if you could assist me with something.” The assassin walked over into the shade of one of the tents. “If I’ve heard correctly, there’s rumor of some sort of treasure buried deep down in the Catacombs. Problem is, this entrance is blocked up.” Griel took an apple from one of the stalls and took a large bite.
“I know, however, of another route into the Catacombs. Now, I’m just an average archaeologist, and I was wondering something. There’s all sorts of monstrosities down there…could I possibly put your services to use? I’m not in this for the money, just the thrill of the adventure! So, what do you say?” The assassin waited calmly for the man’s reply.

Three major factors threw Leon off. One was the hasty response and the fact that Leon had seen him talking to the guard. Then the fact that the man was a canthan, alot of things didn't add up. The ranger wasn't use to prying his nose in things such as this, he liked to give people the benfit of the doubt. But this he found hard to belive, though the chance of adventure seemed promising. "Is he trying to take me on a while Moa chance?' He thought. "I'll go along for now.'
"I'll be honored to help you sir. The name is Leon Ux-ixen. I just need to fix up my armor it's a bit loose." His armor had loosen from the journey, a curse that Luxon armor gave with some many straps and belts. He carryed a second set of armor that was more fit for colder weather and was easier to matained.

Hgtrak stood aside while people crowded before the now closed gate. The guards had trouble controlling the situation, as people went berserk. A few peasants sank down, blood seeping through the hands on their belly. These people here are hysterical, they should learn to contain their minds. Curse Itaki for sending me here, what was she thinking?
From the corner of his eyes, he noticed the shadowy person, involved in the quarrel outside Sardelac, in heavy conversation with the ranger that brutely passed him by at that same time.
Moving closer, Hgtrak observed the two. To the untrained eyes it wouldn't be noticable, but he saw daggers underneath the cloths of one them. This must be it, the one Itaki spoke about. Still heavy in conversation, the two didn't notice Hgtrak moving within earshot.
"...could assist me with-" A roar from the crowd aroused, a farmer went down, hands on his legs. "...for the money, just the thrill of the adventure! So, What do you-" The crowd exploded again, muffling the conversation. Hgtrak focused. "..Ux-ixen. I just need to fix up my armor it's a bit loose."
Hgtrak needed no more, and moved towards them. Eyes were on him, when he stamped his staff into the ground. "Excuse me, gentlemen", he said. "We have to meet. My name is Hgrtrak Bo Azumi, and... we were to meet."

The assassin looked the ritualist up and down slowly. He seemed as powerful as he seemed wise. Could this man be yet another valuable addition to his merry band of adventurers? He then realized that the ritualist had spoken. “My name is Hgrtrak Bo Azumi, and…we were to meet.”
“My apologies, sir, but I don’t believe much in fate. I choose to weave my own destiny, thank you.” Griel took another bite of the apple he was holding. “Nice meeting you, however. I don’t think I’ve introduced myself. The name’s Jin: Canthan explorer.” Griel had taken the name from his first target, and he liked the ring it had to it. Besides, if the local authorities knew his name, giving it out to random strangers was the worst thing he could possibly do.
“But before I go any further, what is it that you wished to say?”

Mahrek heard the commotion as it built, but wasn't suprised. However, he noticed the group of three just as the ritualist stepped up to the shady-looking man and the ranger. Something didn't seem quite right to him, and he had a small feeling that he wasn't the only one after the artifact.
However, approaching the Sanitarium from the south, came a woman, dressed in a flamboyant scarlet outfit, with auburn hair. He stood up, and leant on the Sanitarium's fence as she came, waiting to politely introduce himself.

Another figure rose from the wood works. A spellcaster and a canthan. Things now more then ever didn't make sence. Two Canthans in Tyria in the very same spot was curious. "Something isn't right." Thought the ranger, he rubbed his face which was rugged due to the lack of a good shave as he pondered the situation that stood beofre him. The man's eyes glinted with curiousity of thier. own and power, bold and stern. "I am Leon Ux-ixen" He gave his name willenly with a fath smile. He after that stay silent knowing there was nothing more for him to say.

As Juniper walked up the slope to the Sardelac gates for a better look, she felt concealed glances her way; and noticed the hooded man reclining against the iron fence. He held an orange colored ornate scythe. Quite an unusual weapon, and she had never thought a farming tool might look so gracefully forged.
She past in front of the man and stopped right next to him to take a look into the Sanitarium where individual groups of people were discussing the new situation. She then spoke, "Human intentions are quite easy to read." She turned to face the man who was obviously an outlander. "So let me be the first to welcome you to the gloriously charred kingdom of Ascalon, traveler." she gave him a slight bow, and went on, "As luck would have it, we seem to be stuck on the same side of these bars..." she ran a finger along the black and cold surface. "I am June Milstead." she lied seamlessly, extending a slender hand to the man.

A rough draft
name-Victor Trivendal
Sex-male
proffesion-champion (war)
age-28
Hair- dark brown
eyes-brown-green
The muggy air of the Maguuma jungle was starting to aggrivate Victor's throat. Sweat beads falling endlessly down his forehead. Hoistering the abnormally large hammer to his left shoulder he picked up his pace. Getting to the Elona was the one and only thing he could think of. Having not stopped to eat or drink for many days now Victor's strenght could not be ill wasted. Pray Balthazar I'm not too late
The light ahead was an indication that he was nearing the end. Breaking through the heavy foliage he saw, down the hill, he saw a bustling port. Busy vendors and many boats. Steadily heading down the hill he entered the market place. People crowded his left and right as he squeezed between them. heading towards the boats he last saw he began to converse with the dock master. Purchasing the ticket to the desert Victor made no hesitation to board the boat. Pulling the cloak above his head he found a remote and secluded corner of the boat to spend his free time in.
Hey wake the hell up were here!yelled a crew member of the ship. Hastily grabbing the few items he had he quickly made his way off the boat. This port was the same as the last despite the fact Victor was now in an entirely different continent. Stay alive...stay alive marching across the endless desert dunes Victor proceded to the only place he could think of where they could have taken her...into the vortex

(OOC: Although i'm going to put quotation marks around the name June Milstead, it doesn't mean my character knows that she was lying about her name, it's just to help stop confusion)
Mahrek took 'June's' hand and formally kissed it, as befitted a lady of her beauty and obvious stature ().
"I thanks you for your greeting," he replied and continued;"and I would welcome you to my homeland of Istan at any time you wished, 'Lady Milstead'. My name is Mahrek of the Sunspears in Elona, and I have come seeking an artifact that scriptures, recently found, point to the Catacombs under what used to be Ashford Abbey. Unfortunately, just as I arrived, they closed the gates to find a fugitive that is supposedly hiding inside."

Juniper smiled brightly as she watched her little ploy unfold to perfection. She raised a finger to her mouth in contemplative pondering, "An artifact around these parts, you say?", she thought aloud, "And revealed by scriptures from your faraway land? Why, that's..." One could read across her face quick calculations crossing her mind. "...Fascinating!" She granted Mahrek a sunny grin as she crossed her arms across her chest.
"Let that fugitive where he is, and have no regrets; the entrance from Sardelac has caved in years ago." She extended a hand to lightly pat the man's cheek. "But wipe that frown off your face, dear." She slinked around Mahrek like a purring cat. "Your's Truly knows a way around, and would love to offer you aid in finding this ancient trinket."
"What say you, my good Mahrek of the Sunspears?"

Mahrek felt a moment of discomfort as she acted too close, too personal. But he quickly put it aside, realizing he was not at home, and definately not familiar with the customs there.
Although he had been disappointed when she had told him that the entrance in Sardelac had long ago caved in, his hopes brightened when she told him of what he assumed would be a back entrance so he could find the artifact.
However, something about the way she had thought about helping him get into the Sardelac Catecombs made him slightly suspicious...
"I would be forever in your debt, "Lady Milstead". Surely one of your stature should not be showing a foreigner around, especially when there may be dangerous beasts wandering around? Although I may be a warrior, there is no guarantee that I can always protect you," he replied, carefully wording his sentences.

(OOC: Sorry Bo Azumi, but I'm cutting the conversation short for a second. I think we need to interact with the others a bit. Besides, the Sanitarium was getting noisy, anyway. )
“Actually, hold that thought, Hig…Herg…Hrug…uh, sir. Quite an interesting name you have there.” The assassin was slowly losing himself in the vast roar of the crowd. The crowd went into a slight uproar, and the guards reached for their weapons yet again. Griel winced, putting his hands over his ears to deafen out the noise. With the crowd getting more agitated by the minute, foreigners would be the first ones they would lash out at. The assassin needed a way out of the Sanitarium, or he feared that he would join the ranks of its inhabitants. It needed to be stealthy, but be able to get Leon and himself out. ‘And the ritualist as well,’ Griel thought. ‘He might be a bit more…mystic than I like, but I’m sure he would make a welcome addition.’
The constant hammering noise was not helping him think. Griel had grown so tired of the noise that he shouted out and threw his hands into the air, inadvertently smacking the face of a large, brutish warrior. Judging from the sour look on his face, he was not at all pleased.
“‘Ey! Wot ‘choo think you’re doin’? You can’t hit the ‘Whammo’ wiffout the ‘Whammo’ hittin’ you back!” The ‘Whammo,’ as he called himself, swung his fist down. Being trained in dexterity, Griel easily dodged the slow, heavy punch. The warrior’s fist slammed straight into the back of a nearby elementalist, who snarled as she began to conjure up a fireball to retaliate. Fortunately, the elementalist’s aim was off. The fireball flew up into the air, singing the armor of one of the guards, not to mention the hair on sever other people in the crowd. They began to draw their weapons in a fury. The guards left their post, rushing over to the small brawl that had now began.
“I think we’ve presented ourselves with an opportunity to leave. Let’s talk about this outside, shall we?” Griel slowly made his way to the door, hoping the others had followed him.

(OOC: I'm so sorry i haven't been posting guys. A lot came up. But now i'm free since its Winter Break.)
Immediately disturbed and awoken from his meditative state, Hyper stood up to see the ensuing chaos that had now just begun in the Sanitarium
Hyper watched everyone in the Sanitarium lose their minds and attack each other with ferocity in their hearts. "What has this world come to?" Hyper thought, "where people can't walk around for five minutes without running into trouble. It is beyond me."
He glanced over to see an assassin and ranger pointing and observing where the guards were and what they were doing.
"A perfect opportunity to get out of this place," Hyper whispered to himself. Slowly he walked over to the two and said, "Hey fellas. I overheard you talking about leaving this wretched place to find this treasure.... The name is Hyper... I'm in." And so he joined their march to the gate.

Juniper realized she'd been a little too pressing in her advances, but before she could respond to Mahrek, an uproar went ablaze in the Sanitarium proper. "Hold that thought, dear. We might want to move a sliver." She tugged on the man's sleeve to back away from the fence, as guards outside drew their weapons at the ready and other onlookers backed off as well.
She then resumed her conversation with Mahrek, "In this day and age, even the noble-borne must rely upon themselves to get about. However, the current obliterated state of affairs does not dull the artistic senses. Nor the navigational ones." She twirled about with a shrug to start walking the other way. "Your choice."

Mahrek had a dilemma.
He felt that "Lady Milstead" was telling the truth about the back door, but something just wasn't quite right about her. The fact that she had backed off so suddenly raised his suspicions slightly, but he realised he had no choice.
"I'm coming," he replied uncertainly, as he stepped quickly after her.
