I can't say I'm the god of faces, but what I do basically is: Take a look at pictures ^^
For proportions I use myself as reference (usually enlarging the legs a tad bit to make the character more beautiful).
If I place my hand on my face I can feel that it covers about 4/5th of my face if not more. So if you draw a hand on the same distance of the viewer as the face, it should be nearly as large as that face.
I'm really bad at feet... can't help you there.
For hands, just look at your own, or ask someone to hold his/her hand as you want to draw it. Print the image in your head, and draw!
Awesome work eggy, though the skin is a bit too glossy for my liking.

I have been a decent drawer for a few years now, and my best friend is intent on becoming an artist herself (she's much better than I am ). She draws in an anime-influenced style, but my art is more realism-inspired. She has tried to help me with my horrible faces for quite some time, but the styles just don't mesh properly. I was wondering if anyone had any tips on how to get faces right, other than just practicing and do the facial division thing, because neither one of those has seemed to help. I seem to get either overpowering eyes, or an odd spacing between the features... Also, if anyone would like to attempt to explain proportions to me, that would be a great help as well, specifically when it comes to the hand/foot areas. They look like they're supposed to, but they are typically too small and look really strange on the character in question.
I thank you for taking the time to read this, not getting angry for thread-invading and helping all in advance! I know that if you intend on helping, it's hard without an image, but, that's pretty much out of the question at the current time. I'm sorry for the inconvenience.
Love the new stuff eggy!

hmmm i dunno how to describe it but i used to draw circle and a cross in front of it to base off the head. than start to fill it in
the circle was not really the head but the top portion of the head
while middle was like the eyebrow and eye underneath
than i draw bit of curve underneath like triangle to get the basic shape of the head.
after a while i dun have to do that just draw all that. a circle and im able to draw head.
as for proportion that cross on circle was like to show which direction and how the head eyebrow and middle is decided.
but right now i just draw basic shape and just fill it in as i imagine and it seems to work for me for now.
but i still has some prob.
that picture im working on
her left eye was erased and redone couple of times and it still looks a bit crooked.
