Default How's this pic I drew?

Yes... this is the first "real" picture I have ever drawn. I drew it with a mechaniclal pencil and colored it with Paint... It's supposed to be a pic of my Paragon.

So... what do you people think? Is it too dark? Anything wrong with it? suggestions and comments welcome

Yeah, I know the paper is a little too gray, but that's because my graphite-covered hand was going all over the paper.

Great, another artist

Ok, some comments :

I take it that you haven't drawn many characters yet, so its ok to start with just a straightforward "pose" like this one. Just as you get better, try to find a somewhat more exciting pose

At the moment she appears pretty flat. You can solve this by adding shades.

Shes not really symmetrical and her arms and legs look a bit skinny.

As far as I can tell you are just starting out with drawing people, which is a great thing keep posting your stuff here, eventually perhaps with some help from fellow artists you will develop your own magnificent style .

Oh and could you add a skin colour? I think it would add well to this picture.

Keep it up! , I'm eager to see more

I don't know how to add shades... how do you do it?

I based the picture off a screenshot of my paragon. It was all clippy and glitchy.

I'm not good at adding skin colors... I spent a few minutes in Paint, and couldn't create one. Which is why I was trying to go for a black and white drawing.

You could try shading it with drawing lines on the darker parts, or if you're going to colour it MS Paint, fill it with a darker shade of the colour.

And some skin colours you could use:

Thank you for the suggestions people... I remember I did try to shade her hair, but I don't think I made it dark enough...

Does anyone know why the paper turned gray? It looks white the last time I checked my art book.

Well i don't think i have the right to say something here because my drawing is terrible, but never mind...

I think you shouldn't paint it with painter... If you will find something other that will be great. she also, as some people said here appears to be very flat... I also suggest you to first try to draw without the face, and when you'll do it good start drawing face... but that's of course just my opinion.

ohhhh, I'd recommend actually getting a scanner and scan the picture... and adding color over a camera picture is a big NO..
from the picture it self the head look ohright to me and the chest looks okay...
the size of the hips should be the same length as the shoulders...
dont worry, practice makes perfect.. keep posting!

Yeah... I was thinking of coloring it with crayon/marker but I have never been able to stay within the lines... so I'd end up ruining the whole thing.

There is a scanner in the house (It's a couple feet away from me actually) but... 1) I don't know how to use it 2) I don't think I'm allowed to use it and 3) I'm drawing stuff in a notebook, I don't think that would turn out too well.

Would drawing with pencil only be better?

Well if you would otherwise only colour parts of it, I would say in most cases: yes!

You can shade by adding strokes like millenin pointed out.

I was advised to post more art here, so here we go

http://img150.imageshack.us/img150/3451/img2377ct1.jpg

I made a thread about it, but people seem to be ignoring it on purpose, guess they hate me or something. Ah well, screw em. This one's supposed to be a Margonite. How is it?

She looks rather stiff, both due to pose and 2d-being. Try and add some shade and perhaps some more detail.

The more you draw the better you will become.
