Nian's picture dump
Here's a fresh digital painting I just did with Painter. I quickly needed something different than my norm to put in my portfolio so I did this. It's not exactly GW art but it's based on the Paragon female model. This hair set reminds me of a greek goddess too.
I guess I'll make this thread my GW related picture dump. I usually draw more cartoony/mangaish stuff. :s
edit: Something way different. Sketched my ele(who really doesn't have vabbian) and played around with it in Photoshop. A bit sloppy yes but it was fun. XD
Commission?
I decided about the commissions. I'm gonna ask for 30k or so minimum for one proper picture and I'm only going to commission one person at a time so I don't swarm myself because time is pricy this time of the year... >.< I can make a waiting list of people if need be but only promising the first ont he list to actually do it. Several characters on 1 commish are a-ok.
Work in progress
1. EtherealByte
Waiting list
2. ZenRgy
3. AW Lore
4. Lilith St Cyr
5. Boone
Status
Commissions closed for now. Hiatus is due to me moving to a new place. :s
Now I think I also have enough people on my list too so I won't be taking any new ones until I'm done with these. Thanks.

I think the shoulder aren't broad enough.. eyes look magical (intended?)
Right side of her chin is not symmetric to her left side (though it doesn't really harm the picture)
Add some more shading, this picture could use darker tones in both clothing and hair (like u did with the thing on her head)
Very good picture all in all, but u asked for criticism
Keep it up!

Wow! Thank you that was very constructive in it's simplicity I appreciate it. To be honest I rarely see people who know how to critique or rather what they're talking about. The lack of contrast maybe bothers me the most but I think I'm not going to bother to redo this because I don't like it enough, just have to improve on the next one. Thanks.

Thanks for the comment. I might take commissions later. Right now my time is very limited for drawing so it's a bit of a problem. >.<
Also I guess I should post something of my usual style here first so as not to give people the wrong impression of how I usually draw.

First off, very very nice.
If you were to add more contrast, as Mistical suggested, you might want to keep in mind the lighting sources and the mood. Is the primary light source behind her? Is that meant for an angelic effect? How much ambient light is there effecting her from all directions? If you wanted a more sinister appearance, you could darken her front drastically, but I would suggest having a glow to her eyes in that instance.
*eagerly awaiting your “usual” style*

Thanks for the comments.
My drawing style is usually more like this though the coloring is not always cel shaded and this weird/psychedelic(lol).
I really should be doing something else rght not but I drew a small quick picture of my roommates adorable monk.<3
And a random Canthan Necromancer with random clothes.

If you are by chance North American then I guess I'm 10 hours ahead with the timezones so it might be a bit hard to meet ingame but I'll make do if I get on early morning or late at night and also it would have to be in an International District hope that's ok?^^;

Thank you for the compliment for my mesmer
for meeting in game, we could see at a weekend, i would wake early to try and catch you, and of course, international districts are fine, also i could send you a guest invite to come to our guild hall, i think that should also work regardless of server location, right?
cant wait to see it done, take your time

Yup, guest invites work regardless of server location. And international districts are fun.
Lovely drawings Nian! I really love your style, your crazy colouring always cheers me up. <3 I wish I could get you to draw one of my characters, but I really don't have that much gold....
And geez, am I the only one from our circle of artists-who-play-GW who hasn't managed to finish one GW fanart. You and Noanoa have both already done tons of awesome fanart. :3

I always thought that Priestess drawing you did last year was heavily influenced by Ritualists o_O. But yeah, we definitely need to make you draw GW fanart \o/.
Well I've already crawled thru all your threads, Nian, but <3 that pic of my monk <3<3.

Perynne: Thank you. You need to start drawing too girrl, it would be nice to see some of your GW fanart too! I thought later I could go hamster other peoples artworks by offering them art trades or something nice. >
Nkah Sennyt: Thank you for the commish. I love your monk. I've been waiting to get a chance to draw a monk ancient so we'll see what I come up with. :}
ravensong: Thank you. :3 /bow
Lord-UWR: Yes I have one but I'm not sure what's up with it nowdays. I've been leaving it unattended for so long so I try not to much advertise it haha... <.< But here there be dragons: http://neesa.deviantart.com/ arr!
EtherealByte: Thank you, yep I'm adding you to the list there.^^

Lovely stuff! The shading on the canthan necromancer...the way you went from purple in her hair to pink down to gold...inspired. And yet I'm surprised I've never seen it before in portraits because it makes so much *sense*.
Really fresh, unique, lively art. I can tell you like playing around with what colors can do and I <3 it. I'm camping your thread.

Just a question about your commission style, will it be in the "greek goddess" style or the more sketchy Vabbian ele? *Hopes for the latter*
