Hi, I would love to comment on every peice. But I think it would show some degree of bias if I mentioned one and another and used different terms.
Trust me, every peice is totally appreciated and every peice makes choosing and ranking harder. Every time I see an update on this thread, it's stop what i'm doing and I look at this in excitement.
Also, give it time. People tend to post on these threads, later on in (my) day.
I am trying to be as fair as I possibly can regarding judging of peices, as thats only right and respectful to the thought and time people have put in.
Thanks again
Shan

It's quite a downer to come here and see a comment like "it's unfair, but I'm not going to complain." Well, you just did.
|
I don't really appreciate you targeting me. I wasn't the only one that said anything. In fact, I think I said the least, but that is my opinon. And I wasn't complaining. I simply stated my opinion, and left it at that. You shouldn't be so touchy about what people say. If you're going to have a piece of work that is obviously going to stand out against the rest of the works being submitted, you should be ready for whatever people are going to say. What I said was my own rightful opinion, and was not meant to offend in any way.
I never said I didn't like what you did. Personally, I think it's amazing that you got them to look so similar to the actual characters.
---
If everyone is done turning everything I say against me, I'll stay. If not, I'm pulling out of the contest, because I can't stand having people give me a hard time for my opinions. How am I supposed to know that the voting will be fair now that everyone is mad at me? There have been other comments that were worse than mine, and no one said anything about them. The one about the two pictures done in Paint? Someone said their eyes were being burned out. Now, tell me that my innocent comment is worse than that. Joke or no, that was by far more insulting than anything I could have said. And I wasn't looking to insult anyone.
So, I'm off to go find something to do now.

Hey flying crab, something I noticed,
The eyes of the right mesmer, are they supposed to look at the other mesmer?
If so, perhaps the eyes should look more downwards than just side/upwards. I know that was your final version, but still..

Just to clarify
The judging will be done by myself and Sanra, no one else gets a vote for the main prizes, and we're certaintly not mad at anyone. We love to see people's feedback on the other artists work, but it's our decision and we're grown up and sensible enough not to let it sway us.
The community vote we mentioned is for an addiitional bonus prize, not for the main ones. So to sum up.All these
Quote:
Prizes for duo drawings:
As per main list etc etc
The special prize for the winner is having Shan and Sanra ingame as his/her slaves for one ingame session. We'll do whatever mission, quest or anything the winner wants to do. The session can last several hours until Real Life (TM) interfers and forces one of us to quit the game. (if the top winner doesn't want this prize (whaaat?) the next in line gets it)
Prizes for single character drawings:
As per main list etc etc
The special prize here is the same as the one for duo prices, the winner of best Sanra/Shan gets only Sanra/Shan as slave for one ingame session. If the winner of one the 2 top prizes happens to be the winner of the duo prize special prize, the next in line gets the prize instead.
There's also an extra prize list for honourable mentions. This is for pictures which are quite not up to the standard (stick drawings, simple photoshop manipulations and similar) of what is seen for the main prize lists. For this list, we'll be throwing in a bunch of minipets.
Prizes for honourable mentions:
As per main list
|
Will be judged by sanra and myself
Will be voted for by the community, as a kinda finale after we've done the main judging.
I hope that helps.

This one has some great detail to it. Notice the background is the skill icon for 'Tease'. I watched her create it (Skye is my fiancee) and it's amazing how much time these things take. She spent well over 35 hours on this thing.

I think the only reason people didn't pay it enough attention was because it was submitted right in the middle of the cg arguement :P i think it looks fantastic, very sexy aswell

It looks great indeed, and if your fiancee doesn't mind working on it a bit longer : add some shading/lighting to the black ^^

Tea And Cashews, err I don't hate you. I'm sorry if it came out that way. Just said how I felt about the whole thing. Something like this would have no effect on my vote anyway because I always want to vote for the one whose work I think deserves it the most. Although we aren't going to be voting anyway since Shan and Sanra will be the judges like they said above.
Anyway [Skye], great entry! Very sexy I love the outfit you created and the butterfly there is a very cute little detail.

Just letting you guys know we've decided to increase the overall prizes for the contest. Here's the improved lists:
Prizes for duo drawings:
1st place: 200k + special prize
2nd: 75k
3rd: 60k
4th: 50k
5th: 40k
6th: 30k
7th: 20k
8th: 15k
9th: 10k
10th: 5k
Prizes for single character drawings:
Best Shan picture: 150k + special prize
Best Sanra picture: 150k + special prize
3rd place: 60k
4th: 55k
5th: 45k
6th: 35k
7th: 25k
8th: 20k
9th: 15k
10th: 10k
Community vote prize: Nightfall pre-order key and a gemstone set
So in total, there's now 1070k put into the prize lists including the gemstone set which should be worth about 70k.
------
And a little reminder that the contest is finished in exactly one week. Deadline for submitting entries expires Saturday GMT 21st of this month. (although, we'll probably start the voting process 1-2 days after the contest is over, so if someone is late with their entry with 1-2 days we can probably still include it for the contest)

My concept sketch for my group image:
Obviously still tons to do, not happy with Sanra's legs at the moment for one. But it gives you an idea of what I'm working on.

Sanra
link to hi-res
EDIT: oh yeah just to throw my two cents in on the whole 3D thing-- 3D takes time and talent to make just as 2D art does. There are different things to take into consideration when comparing a 2D and 3D piece, but it takes talent and hard work as well as knowledge of composition/color/anatomy/etc. to constuct a good picture in either medium .
