WEll 1st of all, you don't really need our permission if you feel you want/can do commissions. It's your choice and you have a right to open a commission thread if you want. Usually, the fan art community here is very open to every kind of art and I've yet to see one commission thread go unanswered or without interest .

Now for your sketch, 1st thign I notice is the lack of eyes. To me, eyes are an important feature of the face so perhaps working to get some good ones with details would really liven up your sketches ^_^.

Oh and if you plan on sticking with pencil, might I suggest adding some pencil shading to your work, it gives pieces a lengthier and wholesome feel to them.

Except for that, it's really nice . Details and proportions are well done and pose is good(but since you plan on doing portraits I guess poses aren't that important except the angle of the face). Your stuff seems quite commission-worthy if you really want my opinion.

Note that I'm not really an artist, nor a good art critic so maybe other people have opinions.

Good job! ^_^

Kay

the reason i didnt finish is because, frankly

bodies + proportion = harakiri. lol if i did any sort of comission it would have to be portraits and maybe other things. who knows.

Honestly, the shape/proportions on that weren't bad, but I could barely see the pic at all. You don't have to do bodies if you don't want to (but alot of people are vain about the armor they shelled out the plat for). The only thing I can suggest short of getting a photoshop program (so you can up the contrast) is to adjust the settings on your scanner. I don't know if you have a program for that, but you don't even have to go for PhotoShop...in fact the promo software that comes free with printers can do that.

Alternatively, you could do the sketching for someone who isn't good at getting the shape right, and have them colorize it (sorta tag team it like comic book artists) and give them the responsibility of taking the raw image and making it work for a computer screen. Downside is you have to split the earnings.

But, lord knows we all got our start somewhere. Keep it up. If you think you need work on bodies, pick up an anatomy book and learn the internal structure that you have to build a skin over (that will help with muscles, joints, the length of arms and legs). Tracing isn't a bad thing either. If you find a picture with a pose you'd like to use, trace it to get a feel for where everything needs to be (sorta like training wheels on a bike, because soon you'll find one that you can't really see through the paper, or that isn't a complete picture and you'll just fudge it...and say "oh, wow, that actually looks right!).

Okay, I'll stop there so your head doesn't explode. I didn't mean to write a book, but I see alot of potential and want you to keep going!

Well, this one is a bit too unfinished for me to give critique, so far its ok, the lack of eyes hurts but its not deadly. Try working on shadows a bit. Bodies and proportions you can learn through practise, if the legs turn out too short, we say so, and you will make longer legs on the next picture. Same for other body parts. Eventually you'll get there I recon.

This is good enough for 5k commissions I recon, if you add eyes . Theres quiet a few art lovers here, and as all the artists are well.. having a 'list' there is a good chance the art lovers will want your work aswell.

So StarrTheInsane, i will continue drawing, and maybe post more stuff, more viewable stuff, and Mistical Miss i will practice more. Once i have the time. Teachers just love cramming all the projects into the last 3 weeks. /sigh
