I always wanted a group portrait of all my characters, but commissions were either too expensive, or the artist didn't want to draw ALL my characters. So I decided to try my hand at a PS wallpaper / collage:

these are my characters in our guild hall ^^ Limburgse Jagers is the name of my guild. Our cape is yellow/blue with a red lion.

from left to right:
Ingel Oet Mestreech - necro with 15k Luxon body and skirt, 15k Canthan feet and arms. (I believe 1.5k Cantha scar attern, but not sure anymore) holds Ghials Bone staff.
Kitsune Orihime - ritualist with 15k Kurzick armor
Roei Toei - dervish in elonian 1k body and skirt, sunspear 1k arm and feet. I'm going for the primeval endgame armor though. possibly in black.
Huubke Dn Helle - warrior in obsidian armor, holding a totem axe and strongroots shelter. (smallest size warrior possible)
Sonya Fireheart - elem in 1.5k Tyrian armour, silver lining, holding a Rago's flame staff.
Pieke Potloed - my drunken ranger, 1.5k Krytan armour, ironwing flatbow. (tallest size ranger)
Harie Bom Barie - paragon, silver dyed 1k armor, Lulu's Spear (nice n white)
sitting:
Sjeng de Nachraof - assassin in 10k ancient armor, standard grey. He uses Ungues of the Forgotten. (fairly small assassin)
Tietske Tietsma - monk in 1.5k Kurzick body and pants, 15k wanderers arm and leg tattoos (I like how the flower pattern fits with the kurzick armor). Uses Jhaines Staff for the looks. It's a holy branch skin. (smallest size monk)

Let me know what you think of it, and I'd like to see other peoples creations as well.

Well, seeing as noone is really doing this a lot, I'd like to try and get a few commissions making wallpapers for others.

Recently, I've been making some wallpapers of some of my friends' characters, and I've gotten some very positive reactions to them. I even got payed nice amounts of gold ingame for some.

Now I'm no master at photoshop, and I've seen wallpapers that are infinately better than mine, but still I'd like to give people with no photoshop skills the opportunity to have their character(s) made into a nice wallpaper.

Some examples of stuff I made:

Example 1: multiple characters in a collage: 40k

Example 2: character(s) in a single screenshot with background effects: 15k

Example 3: One character cut out and put in a background of choice with effects: 25k

You can include any text you wish, in any font you like, provided I have it (or you can send it to me).

I'll make a quick lay-out first, after which I'll send a low res example of it. Then you can comment on it, or make suggestions, and I will adjust it and complete it. Payment will be half upon commission, and half after having seen the sample and commenting on it. After that I'll finish it off within a week and send it to you by email.

In round 1 I'll be taking on the first 10 comissions posted in this topic! (no pm's or emails. Just post here and first come, first served).
Leave your in game names here, and I'll contact you for the exchange of your screenshots and half of the payment.

And to avoid getting off topic: I'm not looking for comments on my work, I'm looking for commissions I can do. I know there's a lot of excellent PS artists out there, who can do a lot better than I can, and of course TIPS on PS usage are always welcome, but I don't want this thread to turn into a "I'm better than you"-flame fest. (I've had that before, and it can get pretty ugly). So please keep it friendly

OK, that's great. We can always discuss possible ideas you have, and if you'd rather have some sort if combination of styles used in my examples, and then come to an agreement on the price (depending on difficulty and amount of characters).
I'll watch this topic for your screens.

Some tips on making screenshots:
Be sure to make screens into the light, so have your characters look into the sun, their shadows behind them. that's gets the best lighting results.
Choose your favourite backgrounds if you want that to be shown in the wallpaper, and if you prefer cut-outs, try to screen them somewhere with a "clean" background, such as snowy areas (Whitman's Folly is a good example).
Shoot your characters from head to toe. Zoom out enough to get their entire body on the screen if you want that to be shown. Use SHIFT+PRINTSCREEN so the HUD isn't shown.

Okay Ryker, haven't cought you online yet, but here's the general idea:

I'll make em in 3 resolutions, showing the biggest and smallest here. I've cut out the warrior, the rest needs to be cut. If you like it, let's meet online and agree on a price, pay half, then perhaps you want to share some suggestions, and then I'll finish it, and then you can pay me the last half of payment, and I'll mail you the PSD file and the JPG's.

Out of curiosity, if it's okay for you to answer:

Do you get the character against a strong background such as a plain-colored sky and magic wand them in Photoshop, or polygonal-lasso them? Once I cut the Lich out of a screenie, but because it was in RoF, I had to spend an eternity polygonal lassoing him out.

Well, I use different techniques. As you can see in the examples, I've made wallpapers by cutting out a square around a character in a screenshot, with the background/location of choice, or like in the example with the 6 "TV" squares from the login screen, and just put them on top of a nice background on which I could apply some filters.
But I also make walls by cutting out characters with the lasso tool, which does take more time and concentration, but you can do more with the result, like the wallpaper with the grey-white background and character silhouettes.
I really just do what comes to mind, and what the cliënt wants me to make.

For Ryker I'm going to cut out his characters.

Hi there,

I'm posting on behalf of Commander Ryker, she is my real life partner, we live together.

Unfortunately, she has had a family emergency and had to leave. I doubt she will be checking these forums in the next few days. So please, put her commission on hold, because I really have no idea of what she wants.

Now I just noticed that you ask for half the payment after your first draft/idea, and the other half after completion. I realize that it's your call, but most artists get paid after the work is completed. Some place a watermark until they receive payment, and then send a final copy. I'm just mentioning this, because you might get more orders that way. Some people are reluctant to pay up front. Most people that post around here and make requests have made them to several artists, and come through with payment. But then, you have the ones that don't

lol, I don't know, I guess I speak for myself. Scamming somebody would be the last thing I would do

My reputation is way more valuable to me.

Well, since Rykers commission is on hold temporarily, I'm open for new commissions.

I have taken Mess's suggestion into consideration, and I've decided to handle payment as follows:

1: 10% upon commission
2: 30% upon first draft. you can make suggestions here.
3: remaining 60% upon completion. you will be shown a low res version of the completed wallpaper. After full payment I will email the full-size high res image, along with the .PSD file if you would like to have that as well.
