Artists! What gets you going?
So recently I've noticed some difference in what I put on as background noise when I'm drawing and the actual output of the picture.
These two I was playing old episodes of the Addam's Family for most of the time I spent working on them.
These I did while playing the entire first and second season of Penn & Teller's BS.
Then on the last one, I decided I didn't feel like having anything on the TV and opted for music instead.
So, artists, what gets you going?
Do you have any shows that you like to listen to while you work?
What's your favorite music to listen to while you work?
Do you have any kind of snack on hand when you're drawing?
Is there any place in particular you like to go to draw?
You know what my shows are. My music playlist is usually Depeche Mode, VNV Nation, The Cynic Project, Wolfsheim, and lots of other electronica and '80s music. I can usually be found drinking Dr. Pepper and eating ramen. And as I've learned yesterday, if I don't sit in my recliner, I get the worst ADHD and want to do every other thing at the same time.
Your turn!

Well, I usually don't know whats playing on the radio while I draw ^^
Often I play guildwars while drawing :P and checking these forums...
Theres often music on, but it doesn't matter that much because I hardly hear it while I'm drawing, I kinda get sucked into my drawing ^^

I love the spirit in that last one. :P He's sexy.
What gets me going? Definitely my music, but not all my music. Some of it can be too 'heavy'. A big one for me is Godsmack. They give me a kind of spiritual vibe that I find can make me to great things with my drawings. Like my Wolverine. :P

Ooh, yes Wolverine is very nice. Lots of texture in the hair and good even shading.
Alot of the time I only hear the rhythm, but last night was epic. My fiance was taking his ele through the final mission in Prophecies. I was almost finished with the picture I was working on. He gets to the cinematic with the Lich Lord and "Schism" by Tool comes on. I was like, "Wow, what a great song to play right now!" Great for obsessively detailing different layers
Oh, but the ending wasn't nearly as cool as Nightfall. When I beat that it was the crack of dawn and the end credits were rolling up with the sun. The only thing that should be playing when you finish that is "Halcyon+on+on" by Orbital.

Oddly enough, music isn't the thing for me. I tend to get distracted and start daydreaming. It might be good to get me hyped up, but then it's better to turn it off. My #1 choice of noise is natural noises - wind, birds, trees creaking, etc...if I could do art in the middle of a forest with no voices, cars, computer fans, etc, that would be ideal. But music is good for blocking out those noises.
Things that get me going...well, red bull and coffee are often good. :P And alcohol has been known to make it quite fun. But I hate to resort to chemicals. So usually just finding some sort of peaceful setting is my "drug of choice".

Lol, yes! I know the pieces fit. Like you put the pieces together in your drawing. Very nice connection. And thank you for the compliment. :P I started making another person though in that style. <3

@Foxeye:
I've had the opportunity to draw own in nature on occasion.. If I'm really into what I'm drawing, but sometimes I end up just watching things around me & listening the birds, leaves & such..
I usually like music. Mostly soundtracks. GW, LOTR, Streets of Rage, Unbreakable, Silent Hill.. you name it..

I'm usually in GW playing, and browsing the net, whilst I draw. I find music distracts me more than anything, so I tend to leave it off whilst I'm working.

The only thing that's worse when I listen to music as opposed to a tv show is that time goes SO FAST! I didn't get started on that one until about 11am (usually I start my work as soon as my guy leaves for work in the morning), but as I was drawing I look up and notice that I wasn't halfway done and he'd be home any minute. Generally I have more to show for my day at home. Then again, I think the detail came out better because I got totally absorbed by the rhythm.
