Default CONTEST: Tell me about your characters!

Fan Fiction contest

The talent of the creative writers on the Guild Wars forums have gone unappreciated for long enough! This contest will reward the community favorite writers for their hard work with a drawing of their character.

I'm not exactly sure how to make this work, but here are a few things. What you should do is write a little about the legendary and heroic deeds of your character. I'm not asking for a grand work of Tolkien, just a couple of paragraphs on why your character should be one of the ones that gets drawn. Make it interesting! This is how I will pick the winners! The three writings I like best will receive a drawing of their character!

I'm not going to give a definite timeline on this, but it will be in the next day or two.

My main character, Balen Green Guard, comes from a dnd campaign. He's a 7ft tall aasimar paladin with long shining silver hair and green enameled armor. He originally joined an order of paladins called the Green Guard. The GG was charged to protect the city from invasions and what not. Being an aasimar, the offspring of a celestial and a human, he found his calling eliminating demons and the like. He used detect evil as a radar, and in game he signaled this by sniffing and saying, "I smell evil." He then became a member of the Knights of the Chalice (prestige class) and lead campaigns into the Abyss to try and locate Heironeous' (god of chivalry, justice, valor, etc) daughter.

He is known as a Raziel Acher. Lover of nature who is in hunt for evrything that tries to destroy it. He prouldy weilds his bow but his mind is his most powerful weapon. Without a plan he doesn't rush in the fight cause he is aware of the danger he is venturing into.
His bigest goal was to meet druids and to learn from them but now as he became wiser he understands why no one has ever tallked to them before. Fearing that his knowlage will be passed to the evil minds he abandons his bigest dreams.
Now he is in search for peace and place to rest with his trustworthy pet Nora. Great battles and deeds that he did are just a memory now as he seeks no respect nor loot. He only seeks peace and place to rest and enjoy ways of willdernes and he does not ask for more...

Yeah i know that most of you people will write better texts than me, i am new at this, but hey i did it just for fun. Hope you like it!

My Character:




-My Avatar(Character) in a Fiction World named Tyria.
Graceful and Merciful Assassin or Crusader who Mediates both The Luxons and The Kurzicks.
Hired by both sides to take down each other.
He is named "Cobalt Aegis XIII".
"Cobalt" For the Color it represents "Blue" which also represents "Cold(Adv.)".
"Aegis" For the meaning "Protect".
And named "XIII" For his Rank in his Alliance.
He may be called like that but he is really Merciful and kills enemies with Full Rythem and Grace.
He is also known sometimes " The Savior of the Kurzicks/Luxons(Title)".
Unlike any Assassin in Tyria he wields an "Orichalcum Scythe".
In other times he also wields an "Orichalcum Chakram".
Other Assassins call him Foolish(N00b) or Keen(Pro).
Trained by "The Enoch Arts of Kamaitachi(Schyte) and Kitsune(Daggers).
Associated with "The Legions of the Aguila", an Alliance meant or goaled for World-Peace.
"Aguila" means "Eagle" which represents Chivalry and Valor.
The "Legions of the Aguila" is composed with 3 Elite Guilds and 5 Guilds.
The Elite Guilds are the "Legions of the Golden Aguila" where Cobalt resides
"Legion of the White Aguila"
And "Legion of the Midnight Aguila".
And he is ready to join any Crusade to save Tyria.

Marcell, a 6'3 foot tall Ritualist, he's a pretty laid-back kind of guy, who rushes in to help others when needed. He uses a pair of migit daggers, which he enhances with the power of spirits to make like... 10x bigger. When in the enhanced state, his daggers are named "Soul Daggers".

Marcell sat down with his back to the crappy dirt-filled walls in his empty Guild Hall, with the tournament NPC looking at him menacingly, with his paper and pencil trying to find out what heroic deeds he has done in the past month or... ever, he then scratched his head impatiently as he couldn't think of anything. So he started to list of, "Not so heroic deeds". First one,
- Ambushed a group of Charr, and set them free in the forests of the Kurzicks.
This was more of a practical joke than a deed. So he quickly erased it while laughing at the surprised Kurzicks. He remembers back in the days when he was part of the Turtle Clan. Reckless he was. Rushing in ahead of the group daggers crossed, leaving the other Ritualists casting, warriors in the dust, and the monks shouting obcenities as they rushed to heal him. This was pretty much every battle he had. And it always turned out ok. Getting bored with Kurzicks, he turned to Elona. Where he then became a Sunspear General, where-after he was quickly kicked out for his recklessness. Currently noone knows where he resides. Rumors have it he hangs around in the Jade Sea with a group of other people just like him.
Presently, hes been traveling with his friends, Siris (Archer) and Tyler (Warrior). Who back him up in anything he does. No matter how ridiculous. Things such as, streaking through kurzick bases. But, when things get serious, they know how to handle a fight. Recently, during an alliance battle they were the lead attack squad. They stopped at a ressurection shrine to argue why an Ace shouldn't be considered an 11 in blackjack when they quickly noticed they were surrounded by Kurzicks. Cards fly all over the place as our heroes scramble to get ready. Marcell quickly draws his migit daggers, Enchants them and prepares for the fight. Quickly a kurzick falls with an arrow in his stomach and Marcell's daggers at his throat. With Tyler fending off two Kurzicks with his shield and Axe. Marcell quickly rushes in to help him with the daggers 'enhanced" and takes out one of the kurzicks with two stabs to the chest, while Tyler rakes his axe across the kurzicks face, who is quickly silenced by Siris's arrow. The trio continue to fight off the kurzicks when Marcell realizes they are running out of fighting room, and fasst. So he quickly thinks up a plan to elude the Kurzicks. So he points, and shouts at the top of his lungs "LOOK! MONEY!" Every Kurzick at the fight turns around and looks. Marcell and his companions turn around and run like they were getting chased by Michael Jackson. While reinforcements arrive and help the tired fighters. And that is the legend of Marcell. And how he won the greatest Alliance battle of all time, with wit, not brutality.

Marcell finishes up the story, and signs it at the bottom.

I honestly thought this thread died here. Here's what I did on GWOnline. Everybody who entered, gets a drawing! Post a screenie of the character you want drawn, and I'll (eventually) draw it. I say eventually because I hurt my hand at work, and have like 15 pictures in queue from GWO. I promise I will draw your character, though!

I fail to see how highlighting a bunch of pronouns makes a fictitious character gay. If I am not mistaken, I am fairly sure that was meant as an insult, implying that there is something wrong with being gay - uncalled for on both accounts. Either way, my ele has nothing to do with him, except in name alone, and that was the history of the name.

Anyways, here are some more animated pictures, which might be more interesting to draw.

On the contrary, chembaron, I don't think Magna meant it as an insult. I believe he was confused about your using male pronouns when your character is infact female.

However, I do not see that these pictures can depict the same character you gave a description for. First, and most prominently, the character is female. Second, she has black and not silver hair. Third, the character you described you stated was from a DnD campaign, and not Guild Wars, and this is a Guild Wars forum meant for things pertaining to Guild Wars, and not other games.

Goney The Unworthy



“Son…?”

“Son, wake up.”

The boy awoke from his sleep and looked into the eyes of his father. He could see anticipation in those eyes. Anticipation of a new beginning.

“Get dressed lad. Today is the day.”

The boy knew of which his father spoke, and he awaited this day for some time. He and his father, along with farmers, artisans, and merchant folk, were to head East from their home of Kryta, across the Shiverpeaks, and eventually arrive in their new home of Ascalon. This group of Krytans found disappointment and despair in everything they tried in Kryta, therefore one day, the boy’s father suggested they try to start anew in the land of Ascalon. The trek across the Shiverpeaks would be arduous, but everyone eventually agreed on risking the journey.

The boy was eager to start the trip as soon as he heard the news. He felt no love in Kryta. The only person who truly loved him was his father. He had no friends. The other children deemed him an outcast, considering him “unworthy” to even be seen with. This was mostly due to the fact that his mother died while giving birth to him. Other families believed the boy was unlucky or even cursed. He hoped the children of Ascalon would be more friendly and accepting of him.

The trip would begin at noon exact. The hike across the Shiverpeaks would take three days time. Everyone decided to take a northern route as to hopefully not face any adversity in the way of menacing beasts or worse, the Stone Summit. The team made great time on their first day and decided to camp in a small alcove, away from the blistering winds.

Slept came easily for most, but for one the night was restless. The boy lay awake under his blanket pondering what his new life will be like in Ascalon. He envisioned his father as a successful farmer, living a happy life. He then envisioned himself as the happiest child in all of Tyria, running and laughing through endless fields of the greenest grass. The boy smiled and closed his eyes, praying for sleep.

The following day was even better than the first. The father stated that they would see Ascalon grass by noon the following day. The group laughed and cheered at the proclamation. The boy, however, did not cheer. Ever since morning, he could feel this unknown chill in his spine, as well as his mind. Some sort of intuition? thought the boy. He scoffed at the thought and dismissed it immediately. Although he still could not fully relinquish a trace of it in his thoughts. The team found another cave to make camp in and rest for the night. Rest? thought the boy. The idea was downright laughable. He did not sleep for a second that night. The cold chill still remained in his thoughts. He thought that maybe it would go away in the morning.

The boy’s father had predicted right. The group stood with Ascalon grass under their feet, precisely at noon. They stood, each with a magnificent look on their face. The boy, however, had a troubled look on his. The chill did not go away, in fact, it was stronger than ever. He knew something was coming, and he knew it was close. He broke out in a sweat and collapsed to his knees. The group gasped and turn to look at him.

“…Be…be..hinnndd…,” the boy tried to speak, but his voice would not obey his thoughts. By then it was too late. A blade of the finest steel pierced the body of one of the travelers. The group screamed and turned. They faced might beasts, mightier than any have seen or even thought. They faced Charr. There was no hope for the group of travelers. They were no warriors, none had any battle experience of any sort. One by one they were cut down. The Charr killed with no remorse, no regret. They were ruthless, cold-blooded killers whose only purpose in life was to do the bidding of their gods.

During the massacre, the boy sat still on his knees in a trance-like delusion. However, the cry of his father broke this state. The father was the last to fall. The boy looked at his father’s motionless body, not knowing exactly what had happened. The next moment, the heard the Charr coming towards him.

“No! Please!” shouted the boy. He fell backwards and scurried as fast as he could away from the beasts until he ran into a rock. His breath was heavy and the sweat was pouring by the buckets. He stared into the eyes of the beast in front of him and found no emotion. Instead of raising his blade, the Charr bent down towards the boy. The boy shuddered and attempted to shield himself with his arms. He stayed like this for what seemed like an eternity. The next thing the boy heard was the voice of the Charr. The Charr uttered a single but audible word: “unworthy”. The boy opened his eyes wide. He could not believe what he had just heard. The beasts deemed the boy unworthy for death. He sat in disbelief as the Charr strode off towards their destination to the South. He sat like this for an hour or more until a single thought occurred to him: revenge. Revenge for his fallen companions. Revenge for the only person who loved him. Revenge for his father. When he was once more capable of action, he stood up and continued east. The next thing the boy knew, he was serving King Adlebern of Ascalon in his fight against the Charr, and he could not be happier.

This is Amish God. He goes by Amish. Amish is a nudist, a lonely one at that. Amish loves to dance, as well as run around creating snowmen forests. His claim to fame is his lovely drinking title.
While intoxicated, Amish really started thinking and he said to himself "Man, I want a portrait to commemorate this accomplishment."
Since becoming a hopeless drunk, Amish, like his owner cease to play.

Her medium-length, silver/black tresses reach to her shoulders, the slightly- wavy black-inferno ringlets calling you to reach out and touch them, experiencing their silkiness. Tanya is poised and elegant. This adds to her mysteriousness and increases the aura of intelligence which surrounds her; for she knows that it is better to remain silent and be thought wise than to open your mouth and remove all doubt. She is 5'3" and is slender of build-but curvacious. Although a classic beauty, she relies heavily on her intelligence and nature to win hearts. As you look into her eyes, you can not ascertain what encaptures you and causes you to be lost within the lucid orbs. Still you are drawn in and can not resist the desire to unlock whatever secrets lie hidden in the icy depths.

At first sight Tanya seems unapproachable, exotic and slightly intimidating. Her pale ivory skin strikes an extroardinary contrast with her full colored lips, like someone that has spent much time indoors. She wears a pair of soft leather boots that come slightly up her shins and are the color of black resting on her feet. Her main outfit consisting of a soft and hard leather skirt that flairs around some when she walks. The top of it crossing with intricate weavings on it and a belt to keep it closed and in place.

Tanya 's top is very feminine and leaving most of her front showing off her smooth and flat stomach. It has two thin hard straps with metal rings attached over each shoulder of hers. The rest of the top being made of a soft leather and seen almost like a bikini that crosses slightly with intricate sewings on the leather. An earing in one of her ears as well as a leather necklace around her thin neck to top the outfit off. Both the skirt and the top showing off her curves and figure.

Tanya has experienced time as no mortal has, and in the process eliminated all the essential emotions that makes a being, mortal. Although the personality traits that she has now, is the direct result of discovering her mortality again, even though she is a vampire. Always ambitious and extremely cunning, she is adept at strategy and her artistic nature always seeks the thrill of the moment. Her natural curiosity always lands her in extreme situations and if faced with a choice, would see the good and the bad on both sides of the coin. This in turn can lead her to making difficult decisions, which makes her uncomfortable. If faced with her own failure, she would draw within herself and reject all contact with others until she is ready to sweep it aside.

The few emotions she possesses are anger and love. In her eyes they are one and the same, and often find it difficult to trust people.

When she was embraced, she possessed all the qualities that a fledgeling would: Enhanced sight, hearing and touch. She even mastered the ability of Shape-Shifting and can accurately shape-shift into two forms: A wolf, and a hawk. Thus started along the path of occultic lore and chaos magic that involved extreme spells of nature and the universe. In recent, Tanya's necromantic powers have blossomed to horrific new extents, as though some new source of death-energy had arrived in the world. But as with everything she eventually decided to practice these powers with something to safeguard her against these negative energies. And found that love was the ultimate safeguard against being consumed by the darkness that resided within her.

Now, after years of seemingly pointless existence, Tanya finds herself with enough power to challenge the host of new superhumans in the world.

Scimitar style blade-The 38 1/8" long sword boasts a sweeping "fanged" scimitar-style blade inscribed with magic runes that translate, "death before dishonor." With a hardwood handle, solid metal pommel, rattail tang construction. It magnificently displays an obsidian crystal deeply embedded in the center of the handle and almost has a dark fiery glow to the blade itself, that creates the impression that it was no ordinary sword.

In fact the blade itself contains magical properties and is necromantic in nature. It protects Tanya under extreme cases and seeks blood as payment for its undying devotion to her. The sword itself has the ability to use teleportation and uses mild telepathy to communicate with her, often being the eyes and ears when she is sleeping.

We are the many-born. We are the Pure Ones. We have been known by many names throughout the ages, though few have understood the truth of our existence.

Endlessly, we die and are reborn, changed yet unchanging throughout the ages. We move from lifetime to lifetime, taking up bodies as garments.

We are watchers and we are wanderers.

We seek knowledge and understanding above all.

Long ago we strove the sunder the life of our body from our roving minds, for it grounded us. It held us back. It bound us to a single span of days. Through a ritual of death and rebirth, we severed our living ties and gained immortality.

Now we are freed of the life of the body, but we are irrevocably tied to the life we cut away. It sustains us and empowers us.

We thirst for life and we feed upon it.

It is our greatest weakness and our greatest prize.

Eternal, we wander the aeons, moving to the rhythm of our own inner tides.

The dark time of the year is our time, as are the threshold times when we celebrate Samhain and Beltane. These days are our Im Kheperu, the Day of Transformation, and our Im Sekhemu, the Day of Double Power. As beings poised on the threshold of many things, the energies of these holidays affect us profoundly. At these times we enjoy our greatest power, but in balance, we also pay a stronger price. Waves of energy rise and fall within us, and when in their grip, our hunger burns.

Forever, we are active elements moving through passive worlds.

Our rules are our own. We accept no others. We define who we are and what we shall become. There is nothing in our lives which we cannot control if we but choose to.

Our memories are carried like gems within our souls. Over the lifetimes they build and crystallize until we can take them out and gaze upon them as we choose.

Life sustains us, but death defines us. We are the many-born. Our conception was in death, and each death now brings us a new beginning, forever without end.

Everything we touch, we change. We take in energy constantly, and although this is how we feed, this energy is never destroyed. Through us, it is transformed. It changes states. It resonates to a higher level.

Yet every birth is accompanied by struggle and pain. Every rebirth is just as painful. It may seem that we bring destruction, chaos, and turmoil to all those around us. And in a sense we do. But the changes are always for the better, even though the initial change may seem terrible.

Change is terrible. It tears away what we've grown comfortable with. It destroys what we find familiar, stable, and simple, leaving uncertainty in its wake. But to face uncertainty and to thrive is to become stronger. Everything must change or die. We are active participants in this universal mystery.

Every person that we come into contact with, no matter how casually, is altered. Wherever we go, change will follow. Our dynamic spirits stretch out all around us, and the wake we leave in our passing is like ripples on the ocean. Only the ripples we cause can become tidal waves.

As beings on a threshhold state, we are living embodiments of the dynamic complimentarity that keeps the universe in constant motion. This is our burden. Yet this also is our purpose. In the gray area between two polar opposites lies revelation. We feed upon all around us. Yet we can also harness that energy to heal. We tear away and bring destruction, yet we also nurture new growth. This is our nature, the mystery of who we are.

There is no rebirth without destruction. Light only blinds without shadow to throw it into relief. Understanding comes from balancing all these things within the Self. We are that Balance. We affect it, and it affects us. We are facilitators of the universal flow. We must accept this, and never fear to move with that flow.

We are neither wholly born nor wholly made what we are. The choice for us to become was made long ago. From that time onward, we have been reborn again and again, carrying within us in every lifetime the seed of what we are.

Sometimes we forget ourselves, and wander our lives like sleepwalkers, only half-aware of our true natures. Yet sleeping or awakened, we are born with the potential for transformation.

Awakening is a process of expanded awareness. Anyone with gifts and talents of a subtle nature undergoes an awakening in their life. This is when they come into their own, finally accepting what has been latent within them since birth. For us, the process can be traumatic, as the existence we awaken to opens us up to a host of strange thoughts, sensations, and experiences which lie outside the limits accepted even by other Awakened.

Awakening is the alchemical forge in which we are transformed from dross to spiritual gold. It is the recalling of a part of our Selves that has become clouded over time. It is becoming more than the little self of this lifetime, grasping the totality of who we were and who we are to be -- our Essential Self.

Some of us have greater potential than others. Some are born with an instinctive understanding of their potential and they may gradually come to realize that potential on their own. They recall without prompting and their power is great.

The bulk of our number are born ignorant to what they are. As they grow and mature, there are subtle hints of the latent power, but fear and self-doubt generally keep these from being acknowledged and accepted. Such as these must be awakened to their true selves by another of our number already familiar to our ways...the Elders.

It is here that I end my thoughts in hope of seeking those that oppose us.

And eventually destroy them.

Lycanine - While I didn't read all of your post, for it is long and so I imagine very descriptive, I did notice one thing off the bat. I will not try to assume that you know everything about the lore and the backstories of the game, but there are no "vampires" in Guild Wars.

While it is true that Necromancers are somewhat vampiric in nature, they do not posess enough characteristics to be called such. Yes, they occasionally cannabilize and yes, they grow stronger from death, but that in itself does not give them enough. There is no lust for blood, and indefinately not a reasonable way to attain it, nor do they appear in any circumstances nocturnal.

If this seems like character-bashing to you, I assure you that it was not intended that way. This post was meant to be purely informative.

The fact that I have all three games does say I know that vampires do not exist in the game. As a writer you are not limited to what a game is I am sorry to say.

She can be anything I wish her to be and is and always will be a vampire. To confine myself to limitations mean that I can't think out of the box. Rofl..and I hope that never happens.
