Default Life Melds with GW Art contest entries

Here's the complete list of entries for the Life Melds with GW contest (alphabetical).

Cocotroid 1

Cocotroid 2

Crunchy Cheetos

Crysantha

Gervasium 1

Gervasium 2

Kayleen Ajzurion

Killaya

Li Yu

Luna Luna

Minelle Tempest

Mistical Miss

Noa Noa

Perynne

Piglou

Sasarai

Starr The Insane

Tired One

Yannick of Avo

I've also gathered all of these on a single webpage for folks who'd like to see them all at once. click here

For those who had multiple entries, both drawings will be judged and the lower place drawing will then be excluded from placing.

The current plan is to have the results by Sunday the 5th and then have a get together on the following Saturday or Sunday to hand out the prizes. If that changes (i.e. the judging can be done sooner) we might be able to move the get-together up to the 4th or 5th. I'll keep you all updated.

Very interesting to see them all like that on the same page, yessss . Can't wait to get the results (and meet everyone! tho Perynne and I won't probably be able to come online between the 10th and 12th).

Thank you for hosting the competition, you are clearly taking very good care of it ^^.

ED// gervasium; Yes they are indeed, speedpaint ftw/ftl.

I really like that site with all the drawings. Some of them I hadn't seen yet, including Noanoa's, which is now my favourite picture because of the poses, the background trees and the lights. Btw, Noanoa, those things one the ranger's hands, are they a candy and a red iris flower? They sure look like that but I can't be sure.

Oooh, very nice drawings everyone! I like seeing them all on the same site too. And yah, Noanoa and I will be away at a convention for the entire weekend of 10th-12th so we'll have a hard time coming online then.

Looking forward to seeing the results!

Sweet Jesus, that site takes hella long to load. I know it's not very important because it's a temporary site, but If I were you, I would make a slideshow, and just put the code up. It'll Save a lot of time.

Other than that I think you got a ton of great pieces, and good luck to all those who are competing

Yes, Noanoa has a way to make your jaw drop with her art.

Oh, Avenge, if I knew how to do a slide show, I would. Unfortunately that's something I'll have to go and 'learn' which I may not have time for atm (unless it's easy).

But that's not why some of you are reading this thread. You want to know who won.

First, let me say that this was really hard. Harder than I expected. The diversity of the styles and the abilities of the artists made it really difficult to pick a winner. Even my friend who helped me said it was hard to pick out an order for the entries.

But we finally reached a decision using a complex formula (well, not that complex) and here are the results. I want to mention that the voting was really close. There was a lot of 'shuffling' of pieces to try and rank them. Each of you submitted a piece that was unique and I enjoyed each and every one of them. I must confess many of them evoked a tear or two and there were also many laughs as you captured the essence of my "Lancelot".

Since I've made a little extra money since first posting about this, I've decided to award a cash prize for each place. 11th through 17th will also receive 5k. I also mentioned a 'goodie bag' in the original thread and will be handing this out as well. Each 'goodie bag' consists of tonics, candy canes, and other event-type yummies.

For first place, we had a tie. I'd like to propose splitting the amount of 1st and 2nd between you two if that's okay with you.

1st (tie) - NoaNoa
The candy cane, candy cane weapon, and Lance's bandana were cute additions.

1st (tie) - Peryenne
I laughed at the thought of Lance swiping a bone from a skeleton.

3rd - Kayleen Ajzurion
Awww. A classic "Lance" pose, one paw over the other.

4th - Li Yu
So cute. The little heart 'thought' over Lance's head. Sweet.

5th - Starr
Beautiful. You really captured Lance's running gait very well. I don't know how you did that coloring/shadow thing on their bodies but it is cool.

6th - Piglou
Puppy Bandanas Rule (or is it 'puppies in bandanas rule'?)

7th - Gervasium 2
Many times on Saturday mornings Lance and I would sit out back on the steps watching the sunrise. Nothing as serene as this though.

8th - 17th (in alphabetical order, not ranked)
Cocotroid 1 - Must. Scratch. Behind. Ear.
Crunchy Cheetos - This one reminded me of our Saturday morning walks.
Crysantha - Lance full of energy, tongue hanging out. So like him. And I love the heart in the corner.
Killaya - Rub-A-Dub-Dub, two boys in a tub. Whee!
Luna Luna - You chose some of my favorite pictures of Lance. A unique tribute.
Minelle Tempest - I like how you captured Lance's 'grin' which he did often.
Mistical Miss - A great start. Would love to have seen it finished.
Sasarai - I love the 'Pet Center' with the free arrows. And I so want to scratch the ear in the pic on the left.
Tired One - Another great start. Also would have loved to have seen this one finished.
Yannick of Avo - A boy and his dog just chillin'. And we chilled a lot at our age.

I just want to thank each artist. You have touched my heart so much.

Soooo...when to get together to hand out the goodies and what-not. Does this Saturday, the 11th, work for everyone? (NoaNoa and Perynne won't be available IIRC ) Say at 9:00 AM EDT?

Oh, and I need each artist to PM me their in-game name so I know who to give the gold and goodies to. That way an impersonator can't get your stuff. I'll try to keep the inbox not to full.

Whoa, douze points pour Finlande! I certainly won't mind sharing . My in-game name is there underneath my avatar, feel free to contact anytime. (and yeah, we'll be attending a local convention next weekend so we probably won't be online much)

This was a great and inspiring contest, thank you thank you .

Okay, trying to clear up the time thing (boy, is this confusing. lol)

9:00 AM EDT (Indiana, U.S.) is...

6:00 AM PDT (Seattle, WA was the location I used for converting)
1:00 PM GMT
2:00 PM BST (London)
3:00 PM CEST (Madrid)
9:00 PM in Taiwan
11:00 PM EST (Sydney)

Hmm...9:00 AM my time (here in Indiana, U.S.) might not work for folks on the West Coast. Anyone from Australia? If not, we could maybe move it back a few hours. What do you folks think?

Hey there awesome entries all

I'm back from vacation in america which totally rocked, anyways, I'm now without drawing tablet ... I'll try to find a way to finish it though (perhaps print and draw it manually till finish..)

I think I might just perhaps make it on saturday not 100% sure yet... much to do still ^^.

Shame my art thread got lost while I was away... oh well I'll have to start a new one soon I recon ^^.

Awesome list you have there garreth, not much different from where I would have put them ^^ we kinda have the same taste I recon .

Congratulations to all the people on the list ^^ (especially to the winners ofcourse)

Welcome back Mistical!

A couple folks over at GWO mentioned that I forgot to say where we were meeting. Ooopsie.

I'm not sure if everyone has Prophecies but if they do, Lion's Arch would probably work. The International Disctricts aren't too crowded IIRC. Say ID1? If we have people without Prophecies, we'll need to go to the Battle Isles. Maybe the Zaishen Challenge area?

Thoughts on that?

Um... oh... wow. I don't mind sharing at all! Noanoa and I were actually cheering each other on the day before the deadline, so it's really nice that we both did so well. Congratulations to everyone else too! And thank you Garreth for hosting such a wonderful contest!

My ign is Perynne Walker. And yeah, I probably won't be able to hijack a computer at that time on Saturday, but I'll be available online before and after the weekend.
