Resemblance, anyone? Somebody in the production team has been watching to much Naruto

I can't believe no one has even commented on this! It was the first thing that went through my head when I saw the hero's name AND appearance

Fine if they wanted him to simply resemble sasuke, but the name-thing is going a bit too far in my opinion. They could've named him whatever else and the link wouldn't have been as obvious, but no they stuck with Sousuke; a grain-of-sand's length away from Sasuke. I wouldn't be surprised at all if I heard an in-game conversation with acolyte Sousuke saying: "oh, my family name is Uchiha; you wanna see my groovy eyes? .. what?? .. No, I'm not on crack"

I think it does.
Not as much as one might think, but from a gameplay-experience perspective, do I really want to play GW with a guy who looks like, sounds like and probably smells like Uchiha Sasuke? Major crossover warning.. don't get me wrong, I am a fan of Naruto, but characters in one universe belongs there and nowhere else. .. I mean, what next? .. You play EotN with an eskimo-clothed Kiba in the northern Shiverpeaks handing out exploding tags, Shino is living it large as king of the bugs in the scarab-infested Crystal Desert.. hell, why not just throw in the hidden Sand Village somewhere close to Augury Rock.

I don't mean to sound so outraged, 'cause a matter of fact, it's not that big a deal, it doesn't even matter that much to me, but you asked my opinion.

I hate crossovers.. at least bad ones, and that Sasuke-copy just seems a little unnecessary to me.

Yes, I did notice this crossover right away when I got him in the game. I thought it was funny... and then ended up picking Jin because I'm not too big on whiny elementalist ninjas (damn, it sounds so much cooler written down here...

).
Guild Wars has a LOT of popular culture references, Acolyte Sousuke being the least of them. I don't mind that at all.

hey, i don't mind it that much either, but let's not overdo it, ey?

The Sasuke-copy is almost TOO obvious ^^ .. but anyway, i never intended to crank down on either sasuke or sousuke.. my only true intention was to point out the resemblance ^^ .. even though i still feel he is like a walking commercial for Dattebayo, i think the whole thing is harmless. But, asking my opinion tends to get me rather embellishing on the subject, know what i mean?

I see the resemblance now that you point it out but I'm not convinced it's deliberate. "Sousuke" isn't that uncommon a name and a headband (and that's all that Sousuke's thing is - headband. No metal bits or anything) is a super common accessory. That hair style is way common as well. It could so easily all be coincidence. *shrugs* If they'd really wanted to make a Naruto reference, it'd make more sense to do it with an assassin henchman.

It does make sense that they created Sousuke as an Elementalist. Sasuke uses mainly Fire Style jutsu, eh..? Phoenix Flower? Fireball?

When I saw the name Sousuke for the first time in NF the first assosiation that crossed my mind was Sagara Sousuke

...

hmm... actually wouldnt be too bad if they had copied that kind of personality to Sousuke
