That's enough.
Gaile has always kept a cool, collected persona here at Guru, and I must say, this is by far her best showing.

How you do it day after day Gaile is beyond me. But thank you for doing so.

Hey now, no adding the italics, that's sneaky.

I probably should say "I feel that this is enough," or "Upon review and based on feedback from players, we feel that the rewards are sufficient." I guess I'm just thinking in shorthand today. I changed it to show it's opinion, and not an exasperated statement of surety.

That seems enough to me.

I don't really believe any of us think it isn't enough. We all entered this to have our stuff realized in a game, I was just trying to think of a way to tie the winners to the in game world.
Don't you think it would be cool the meet the person who make the Exalted Aegis in game and just say, "Hey, the Aegis is my favorite shield, I love it!" Most of what we say here is pie in the sky anyways. I was fine with a piece of paper and a t-shirt, as I said, I don't want to seem ungrateful.

I'd like a clarification on that, specifically how it relates to US servicemembers stationed overseas. It's very vague, as most things are when it comes to this issue.

What is vague? "US Exceptions: the State of Rhode Island, Guam, Puerto Rico, U.S. territories, military installations and commonwealths." I'd say that's clear as a bell. Unfortunately, and for reasons beyond our control, we cannot accept entries from any of the "exceptions" mentioned in the rules.

I'd rather be rewarded for being an artist than drinking a thousand dwarven ales (how is THAT playing the game, really?).

Edit to avoid double posting: I missed out on the last competition by a few days! So I may give this one a go. My only sore point is the postage it'll cost me to send anything overseas. So I will likely make the most of it and put multiple entries in one envelope.

Which brings up a question I couldn't see an answer for on the website: Gaile, I understand there's only one prize per person, but is there a limit on entries or can I draw as many items as I wish?

I disagree that it's clear. The wording of this could be construed to mean that if you live on base in the states, you're barred from entering. And what about Alaska and Hawaii? Those are states, yet for the military's purpose, they are overseas.

I'm not trying to be combative, simply asking for clarification, as I'm sure GW has at least some people in these circumstances. And speaking as someone who has been overseas, many times these exceptions aren't as clear as people would like them to be. Life with the military is confusing enough without having to puzzle out if you're qualified to participate in a contest.

Ermmm, entries from countries that are not forementioned such as Singapore are not eligible, am I correct? If so, that would probably be very disappointing.

I already got an idea for a weapon (Scythe) but have a few questions.
Are you allowed to submit more than one design for the contest?
Why can't you e-mail your art (I prefer drawing on the computer...but don't have a printer...)?
If you draw your design on, let's say an A-4, how are you going to send it without having to fold it?

No e-mailing?

Maybe its to prevent people claiming credit for the artwork of others. If its drawn on paper and not printed out then chances are that its not plagiarism or somesuch...

Of course... for those of us talented with graphics programs but absolutely useless with pencil and paper, it kinda sucks.

Do folks who designed a weapon that got used in game get at least one free copy of the weapon for their account?

If not, why not?

If I'd designed something for Guild Wars, I'd want a copy of it.... and be very put out if it were put somewhere like the DoA where I couldn't get it.

No, we did not. At first I was disappointed, but then I felt that it gave me something to work for, another goal. It was cool to finally get my Hammer at the end of Factions. (although I ended up trading it for a shield since I don't like vampirics )

Burn...

So is there another Design a Weapon contest taking place? If so, might you be able to direct me to it?
And do they ever do "Design Armour" contests?
I reckon I could do fairly well in either... assuming they don't mind if I avoid pencil + paper and stick to graphical art as I know well enough.

What would be a nice prize, as a thought Gaile, would be for the winning designers to get one of the weapons they designed in game as a present. Shouldn't hurt the game/economy/whatever at all, and let's them show off thier new toy.

You know what stinks... having great ideas in head but lousy drawing skills. Sigh...

You can print off your design and mail that, no?
