Could GW Concept Art get any more stunning?
http://www.conceptart.org/forums/sho...ght=guild+wars
I haven't seen many of these images before. I remember there was a thread for Factions and Nightfall, but didn't know there was one for GW:EN...

Too bad the concept art isn't really what anything looks like when it's done. Abaddon's concept art was EPIC, and then he was a floating face. Fail.

The concept art there is nice, yes. The art ingame and ideas taken from the concept art, not so much.

concept art is pretty much only good for selling CE's, not something that reflects in game

Something to keep in mind, if you look at games in the past, it just isn't possible to get what see you see in concept art. We're finally getting to where the game looks almost like the art. Ive looked through most of the GW concepts, and I was AMAZED at how many made it in the game.
A lot of stuff they couldn't fit into Prophecies/Factions made it into NF, and then EoTN.
I can't wait to see what they come up with for GW2. Poke around the concepts, and you'll see Chrono-type armor/weapons. Fashioned like clocks/clockwork. Clockwork Scythe anyone?

It usually doesn't bother me, but the more concept art I see of Utopia the more potential I see it having. Damn.
Oh, and I am now rolling an Asuran warrior for GW2. Pure badassery.

Yeah Bryant I agree, Utopia looked to be gorgeous. Very sad it'll never be realized outside of the touches in Asura lands.
Have to say, GW is the only game I've ever played that made me say "Oh...wow look at that!" and take so many screenies. I find some of it quite breathtaking.

Agreed on the visuals. For many years I was just playing text based games and several of my friends started playing this and several others so I got into more graphical games, recently several went over to wow, they tried to convince me to go there, I tried to do it, but visually I couldnt, it was just a HUGE step in the wrong direction. I love the visuals in this game, they are really some of the best I have seen in a game like this

one of the armors i saw in there, for the warriors... is omg it looks fantastic.. why did they add that into EOTN!? WHY!?!!? i think the one iw as looking at was the male one with the snakes and the other male who was holding a spear standing beside some giant charr like creature or something... but anyways the armor that i was looking at was pretty neat looking.. wish they added that into EOTN.. haha oh well...

I really loved the concept of, and the artwork for the abandoned Chronomancer profession the more I look at this artwork the more I think it was a shame Anet canned Utopia(which some of this concept art is).
Some of the mesmer concept armor is fantastic also http://www.conceptart.org/forums/sho...&postcount=139 shame we only got reskins

I have all the artbooks that came with the collectors editions and have trawled the conceptart.org postings regularly - there's definitely plenty of concept art that gets into the actual game! I was positively delighted to find the flamingo-house-boat-things in Elona after I'd seen them in the concept art! Seriously, exactly the same.
A lot of the time the armour doesn't translate that well, though... I think that's more a technical limitation or to save on the effort of making multiple armour models (just reskinning)... That's particularly true for the male mesmer. Sorry, guys, your armour is 90% kind of ugly and the same. D: But the male mesmer armour concept art looks so good. T_T
