Firstly, I'd like to thank all of you who participated in this art contest and for making this really fun I'd also like to thank my co-host for the whole art contest idea
Judging was extremely difficult and I can never be too comfortable with my decision on the winners simply cos each entry is unique and stylish in it's own way. The first 5 prizes were especially difficult to decide on cos I liked 5 entries equally. But... here goes:
1st place
(350k + 5 ectos + a rose)
Starr the Insane
Staaaaaarrrrrr !!!! Starr is making a habit of winning contests This is a truly breathtaking piece of art ! This is the kind of art that grows on you and takes you somewhere beautiful. The attention to detail is simply stunning and the whole atmosphere of the vabbi room kinda is mindnumingly beautiful. Excellent facial expressions too ! Although I liked all the first 5 prizewinning entries equally, this kinda has a bit of everything in it - so yeah, first prize !
2nd place
(160k + 4 ectos + a rose)
Lavender62 & Morag. It was very hard to choose between these 2 entries so yeah I decided to spend more money here
Morag's is a very refreshing new style and the ladies look very classy And it has the best use of colors among all the entries imo. Love the cool and casual poses and love the way he has drawn lips and hair. Being a noob artist myself, there's a lot I learnt from this picture. This drawing simply oozes style !
Lavender62. Very beautiful entry. A very "flowy" style that I loved ! Breathtaking detail too Very nice poses, facial expressions and nice story too Simply awesome ! Most handsome men I've seen in a contest too
3rd place
(120k + 3 ectos + a rose)
StormX
My personal favourite. This has to be the most unique entry imo. The style is very unique and does not fit into western comic or realistic or anime but kinda has elements of all. Very, VERY interesting lineart and I'd really like to see more of this style . Especially love the one eyed blonde mesmer I think you'd make a very good comic book/graphic novel/children's book illustrator
4th place
(70k + 2 ectos + a rose)
Widowmaker
The dress design is absolutely fantastic ! Lots of detail here. I love the shading and the necro's shades too A very stylish entry.
5th place
(60k + 1 ecto + a rose)
Rayala
Best story ! Very imaginative scenario Very nice use of colors too. Rayala just has to pay a bit more attention to anatomy and then she can go work for Anet
6th place
(50k + 1 ecto)
Darkchyld
Very good style, very nice poses and good command over anatomy. Only thing I didn't like too much is the colors. Almost perfect.
7th place
(30k + 1 ecto)
Henton delar
Another almost perfect entry. This is the kind of entry that if colored will blow the competition away ! Excellent idea, excellent sketch but the kind of sketch that screams "COLORS!.... please.... COLOR ME !!!" Unlike StormX's lineart which is comfortable uncolored, this one left me aching for more...
That's all the winners and there goes a million gold !
Some other really good entries which just about made it to the winners list are :
Qing
Really nice idea and execution, very cute expressions too. I'd love to see more from Qing
Gervaium
This is the funniest entry imo Very imaginative scenario and the expressions were really funny too
Izarian
Very nice idea and story Loved the stick fight ! Good use of colors too.
Harliquin
For a first time photoshop drawing, this is really, really good. Love the poses and especially love the ele's face and pose
Bestian trueflight
Very clean lineart and nice idea too. Bestian has a lot of potential.
That's it from me I'm sure my co-host would leave her comments too. I'll add all of you guys to friends list and get the money to you whenever you're on. As for a prize distribution event, I'm not too sure about it cos we live in kinda odd timezones (India & Greece) and I work full time in a place with unpredictable shifts... So, although we'd love a prize distribution event, it can be difficult to get together.
Hope you guys had fun, cos we did And I also hope to see you guys continue to improve and to make more beautiful art And once again,

So we're just finished with 3 of 4 bosses in Nahpui Quarter HM...I get a pm from Erotic Nightmare...
"congrats...? are the results in...?" I think to myself and there is a link. Now being one of 2 frontliners in the group, I'm going between my desktop and my laptop to check the forums... and then my buddies on Vent hear me spazzing out.
Luckily we made it, but my hands are still shaking. Everyone did a great job, I was honestly worried that having my entry in so early it had gotten old and tired on our generous hosts. I'm very glad to see there were 2 second places.
Thank you all for a great adventure. I've learned alot watching the new entries come in, as I always do when some brave soul decides to host a contest.
P.S. I love the picture

Oh yeah I totally called top 3! I was sitting here going, hmmm, it's gonna be a run-off amongst Starr, Morag, and Lavender (also called Widowmaker for fourth). So yeah, best artists won, yay! *gazes in admiration* Aaaaand now that the whole anticipation thing is over, I need to get to work on the official Wintersday Art Contest (which, strangely enough, also features mesmers). Congrats to all!

W00t!!
Congrats to Starr, I had an inkling it would be you (again..^^) anyway, I'm very much looking forward to what you're gonna do with the money (read your DA journal, mkay)!
I really enjoyed being in this contest with all the other great entries, and I'm sooo thrilled for making half-second (Highfive, Lavender!), worrying about pretty much the same issue as starr - guess who's now getting destroyer gloves congratulations to everyone who made it onto the prize list but also to all others! Keep going!!
Once again (and yes, I do it with every contest I participate in), I feel the need to thank our generous hosts! It's amazing to see people who value art in all forms so much they're willing to part with such a substantial, albeit virtual, sum! It is you who always attract new talents to the Academy - I recall being attracted myself by good old Sectus' mesmer contest (mesmers seem to like being depicted, methinx xD).
All the best to all of you
cheers!

Well, part I was going to use to finish my skill hunting, but as I had most of that done before this announcement, I've got a nice sum left. I've got a contest in the works. A different format than normal with more chances to shine no matter what you're good at (and I would welcome you to participate).
And thanks, everyone, for the congratulations. I look forward to hearing/seeing from you all when the series (oh I've said too much) is unleashed.

Congratulations to winners! Congratulations to ALL! Art is something worth to succumb to and spend time on. I was so pleased to see so many beautiful entries but mostly when I saw people still use imagination in a cute way. I didn't expect an activity as big as this! Thank you all Yes, I bow before you all... /bow I hope you will enjoy your prizes and surely all of you have improved... As I always say "Practice makes perfect". May Art bug and Lyssa guard you!
P.S Awesome drawing Cozmic. I would also love a distribution event.

Well congratulations to those who participated and won prizes. Everyone's art had a great and unique quality to it, that other contestant's entries did not have.
I however am somewhat dissapointed in my entry just for the simple fact that I know with a little more patience, and a little more time and effort put into it, it could've been so much better. But unfortunately time was not on my side, and even though the deadline was extended several times, I still couldn't make the time to make my entry as great as I really wanted it to be. Basically the time period of the contest and my own schedule conflicted with each other. Seeing as though I just moved to a different city and am now on my own for the first time and in art school, it was pretty easy for time to escape from me. Perhaps next time I can push myself even further and hopefully get a higher rank and prize!
Also, if at all possible, I would like to receive a more in depth critique of my work besides not liking the colors. Was there anything else you didn't like about the work. Anything specific or was it just the colors? I agree somewhat about the colors though, because I believe there may have been too much purple. But a good way to look at it is purple is the signature Mesmer color!

Congrats to all! It was a nice competition, even if it was delayed a lot. The hosts did a great job organizing it and making it so it's comfortable for everyone (there was no pressure, at least for me).
My entry was more about composition than execution, I can't wait to get my 1st tablet for Christmas, so I can do some serious work.
