Saraphim's Commission Thread...
Ok, so I'm opening up commissions as there seems to be some interest.
This thread is pretty much a go from Monday 19th May, as I'll playing Age of Conan this weekend...
Also, please note that I will be away from 22nd June to 7th July as I'll be on my honeymoon, however I will have my laptop with me so can check the thread as I'll no doubt be looking at GWG at some point..
Eh... I'll just plow straight in:
Commission Rates
All commissions are digital only. However I will obviously render them at a decent DPI, so you will be able to print them if required. generally I work at about 200 dpi for this sort of thing, as 300 gets a bit unweildy.
I will supply the commissioner with a full resolution psd (photoshop) file, regardless of the program used to create, as the chances are whatever I use I will use PS to finish it off. I use CS3, but will try to refrain from using any layer settings that are not backwards compatible. I will also supply, in case of limited access to graphics programs, the image in the following formats: Jpeg and PNG. The latter is lossless, so will give you the same quality as the original image.
To start with I'd prefer to have two active commissions, and as soon as they are done if there's a waiting list I'll move on to the next two. As I'm a freelancer, it may be that I have to drop everything for a job at short notice. This does not mean that I will cease to do the commissions I have active, but they will have to take a back seat to real world work.
Please post in the thread if you want to be added to the list, and limit yourself to one commission at a time, this can of course be more than one character in an image, but bear in mind the more you want the longer it will take. I would prefer people not to request multiple commissions in one post, so that it doesn't get backed up on one forum member. Hope that's ok, I'm just trying to be fair. Hell there might not be many requests anyway.. When posting your desired character commission, please provide me with adequate screenshots for me to get the likeness down as well as I can. If you want a particular armour, that will be useful too although I can always use the wiki to ref ones that I don't have on my own characters.
Examples: click for embiggenment where applicable:
Feel free to have a look around my website at my other work as well.
Rates:
Avatars:
B&W / Monochrome. Head and shoulders only : 5K
Full colour: 7K
Painted at 200 dpi, delivered artwork will consist of a full size image and reduced size avatar in the format of your choice - jpg/gif/png.
Examples:
There is quite a leap between avatar and full body, this is mainly down to the amount of time it will take. I can knock head and shoulder portraits out relatively quickly.
B&W Full Body Portrait, no background: 45K
Can be static or dynamic, your choice. In either case please specify if there is a particular pose / skill execution / attitude / weapon set you want to see.
Painted at 200 dpi, delivered artwork will consist of a full size image in the format of your choice - jpg/gif/png as well as a psd.
Colour Full Body Portrait, no background: 65K
Can be static or dynamic, your choice. In either case please specify if there is a particular pose / skill execution / attitude / weapon set you want to see.
Painted at 200 dpi, delivered artwork will consist of a full size image in the format of your choice - jpg/gif/png as well as a psd.
B&W Full Body, with background: 80K
Can be static or dynamic, your choice. In either case please specify if there is a particular pose / skill execution / attitude / weapon set you want to see.
This will be negotiable, depending on the complexity of the background. I am prepared to be flexible on it, as an abstract background may not take too long to do. Specific location work with complex buildings however may take some time. So please bear this in mind.
Colour Full Body, with background: 100K
Can be static or dynamic, your choice. In either case please specify if there is a particular pose / skill execution / attitude / weapon set you want to see.
This will be negotiable, depending on the complexity of the background. I am prepared to be flexible on it, as an abstract background may not take too long to do. Specific location work with complex buildings however may take some time. So please bear this in mind.
At this time, I'm not too sure that multiple characters in one image will be doable. My main concern is getting it done in a timely fashion, but if people are patient and really want it I'll certainly consider it.
I'm new at this, and hope that the above seem fair, if anyone thinks otherwise please feel free to shout out. I'm not thin-skinned, it doesn't pay to be sensitive in my line of work.
Styles: As you can probably tell I tend to have my own style, if it's not to your taste then I'm probably not the person you want to be asking. I'm getting a bit too old to change my ways now, so please don't ask for chibi or anime/manga styles. It's not that I don't like it, but it's not me.
I think that covers it.. I'll ask a mod to rename the thread.

Upated list 20/10/08
I'm going to have to close to any more commissions for now, as this list has gotten a bit scary large. That's not to say I won't re-open for more later but I'm concerned about keeping people waiting for months and months, given the amount of spare time I've had lately.

I've seen that sexy Fellblade Necromancer before!
I like your style, I have no money, but I do think that if you did do comissions, I'd want one.

Thanks guys, I'm hoping someone will give me advice about rates so I'd rather not make any concrete posts about it just yet. I don't want to overcharge.

Awesome work
And prices depend highly on the amount of time spend on them I recon, if you can do a drawing with just a flick of hand you might charge low, but I recon these would take quite a bit of time so I figure you could go somewhere between 50-100k. Even over 100k if you want to do big projects . And its quite possible to find buyers for those prices ^^ it will prevent you from being totally swarmed hopefully though.
I love the expressions on the faces in all of your works, they kind of communicate with me ^^. awesome

All your stuff is pretty great. And I'm sure at whatever price you'll get people lined up, even though the recent Z-Key title is draining a lot of pockets.
So if you do start up, good luck and hope for great fortune. lol
I know I'd be in line if I had the money. =)

Oops, wonder why...
Thanks for the replies. I'll give it some thought and get a list up in the next couple of days. It'll probably be the end of this week coming before I can start on anything though.
/goes to kick website.
[edit] Hmm.. Guru is listed as an exception. I've turned it off now.

Glad it worked, without clearing my cache it's hard to tell. I tend to leave hotlink protect on as I had a lot of problems with MySpace and LiveJournal users who don't understand the concept of bandwidth leeching.

There is allot of demand for this stuff so you can probably charge a bit.
Personally I would pay in the 90 - 140k area for the digital drawings, done in Photoshop.
Hmm 50 - 100k for the Digital Paint / Drawings, Done in Alias Sketchbook Pro depending on how much was shown.
Err I would not pay anything for the last category...just not to my taste, but I'd peg it around the same 50 -100k.
thats just me personally though.
Edit:
It's customary to add extra for.
Life action/fluid motion,
additional chars/object,
colour sometimes,
detailed Background/scenery

From what I've seen most seem to charge around 15-25k for a black and white sketch and move up from there.
As yours are quite obviously pro quality your work is easily worth the 50-100k people are talking about as that seems to be about the average.
Always loved your avatar as well.

Thanks for the advice! I'm going to try and update this thread later tonight / in the morning. I'll reduce those images to thumbnail links as well...
Meant to do it at the beginning of the week and got swamped with work.

Well Then I'll take a commission for my necromancer and I'll post pictures later.
Colour Full Body, with background please, I would like anything other then the last style you showed when thinking about doing this.
Location does not matter, or even pose really, I'll just leave the artistic details up to you.
If you need more/other pictures I'll provide them.
