My Drawing of a Chinese Dragon.
Hey Peoples
well, im always looking through all your drawings and such here and i do be in awe and wish i could draw like ya'll, well i was sat down today with nothing to do, so i watched Dragon Wars (D-wars) and loved the look of the Celestial Dragon at the end of it and pondered to myself, [Hmm, i wonder could i draw that?] well i went onto Google looking up pictures of dragons and such and found one i quiet liked, so i put it up on my screen and used it as a guide i guess. i in no way traced etc. but after a few hours of doodling 3 cups of tea and a few cigarettes i finished.. kind off, and felt quiet a warm feeling of pride inside <(^_^)> looks like i found myself something new to keep me occupied in my spare time. I still have to color it to make it stand out as it looks like a load of scribble's, hope you can make it out. :P ill post up the pictures sorry about the quality =/ i had to use my Digital Camera as i don't have a scanner,
Don't be afraid to say what you think and if you have any pointers for me or anything they'd be highly appreciated
Thanks for your time hope you enjoy
P.s - Thanks people your my inspiration =D

dude that's pretty good! i think it would be cool if you colored only parts of it, like along it's spine or something. but seriously, good job.
there's a pretty good business for drawing people's GW characters and such for commissions - you should check it out.

Thank you =)
ya thinking about doing the bits of spiky hair yellow and then the ribbon around the legs in a red maybe and the underbelly a dark yellow or maybe an orange still pondering : )
ahh maybe in the future, might try it out on a few of my own characters first and see how i get on, i tend to have problems drawing faces on people lol
Thanks for the Comment =D

Ouu <3 Thats good o: ! I've never been able to draw dragons , lol ;x Good job. C:
Only thing I can really spot with it is those giant whisker thingies on its face, maybe try to make them the same size? One looks a tiny bit bigger than the other

It's not bad but I don't like it. It's out of proportion in a lot of spots. Like said before the whiskers are off, and the body of the dragon seems VERY! skinny to hold that head up, I could understand if you were modeling this off of Lindsey(Lohan) or Ashley(Olson), and the legs are humongus for the body......
All in all it's a 5-6 out of 10.......

Good work there m8^^
Some advice. Study how shading works, find a good techniqe.
Shading works wonders^^
Also, Make some lines thicker at some places (this helps the image pop out)
deviantart.com is a good place for all kinds of artists to share knowledge and improve, there are also a lot of good tutorials around^^
Hope that helps - www.mathiastemplar.deviantart.com

nice work, especially considering it's original, and you're a newbie!
Keep drawing!

I think it depends on what you're trying to do. Chinese dragons are meant to be more serpent-like than lizard-like. Besides, in traditional Chinese art overall composition matters more than specific details. Some stylized anatomical inaccuracies are intentional.

I would say that is what a lóng (龙 or 龍) intended to look like.
One tiny detail, if i may, the top right paw/hand/claw of the dragon, the one behind, seem to not be attached to the body that well. Otherwise, looks all good to me, throw in a firey ball and some clouds or not and your good to go!
some 龍圖騰 (Totem of Long, of Long Tu Teng) for references.

you could scan it into a digital format and start matte painting it in gimp or photoshop. Proportions look good, just a matter of adding value and/or color .
